um hey, if you're only uploading this for other people to enjoy, why are you trying to make money off it by allowing youtube to make me watch ads before the damn song plays?
@QualityOfTheBeard well not ripping but tributing lol except boston's more than a feeling beginning he stole the chorus riff for the beginning riff of teen spirit
@bringbackthe1960sppl teen spirit and more than a feeling do not sound the same at all. if anything the only riff he stole was eighties for come as you are.
@SludgePunkGrunge its the same chords man just not the same timing and its the chorus not the beginning that he took. he even said so. lots of artist do it its totally fine thats the way music progresses on
@bringbackthe1960spp the beggining is the same as the chorus and it is not even the same chords. i know tons of artists wind up having the chords in riffs, but that is not the same riff even with the timing.
@SludgePunkGrunge i know lol im just saying kurt said he got the idea from the song. of course he could have just sadi that later on too sound punk rock. its funny how tobi said he smelt like teen spirit and he thought she made it up and made a huge trendy song without knowing the deoderant lol i mean trendy in a good way not bad
@StephaneVorstellung I don't understand what you're saying... Your favorite version of THIS song is a completely different song? I suppose it has slightly similar lyrical themes, but that's about it. What do you mean?
@mugwye1 Hey mug, I'm just using hyperbola here...figurative language maybe? Despite the obvious differences, a pretty cool continuity of spirit exists between this song and Melanie's. Maybe not as explicit Buddy Diddley's not fade away, but still. These connections, themes and variations make a small world awesome. R. Meltzer says that every song on Bringing it All Back Home are "Memphis, TN." So, depending on how u look @ it. Melanie's isn't "completely" different: they're peas in a pod.
@StephaneVorstellung Still, the phrasing "version of this song" is very misleading. Similar themes don't make them different versions of the same song. There is a chance that they had never heard "Momma Momma" when they wrote this.
@fledis This was actually written BEFORE Negative Creep, the Nirvana guys were good friends with Mudhoney so decided to rip 'em off a little as a joke.
@xXmeeka27Xx thanks so much. that must be it. im shure i saw it in 2001 but it says the video wasnt done till 2005, but anyway........im pretty shure its it.....although my memory of it was different....
thanks so much for that ive been wondering what that song was for like 10 years lol weird....
Greatest cover ever! (Melvins song). I fucking love Mudhoney, had the pleasure of seeing them live during the every good boy deserves fudge period, best live band i ever saw! Amazing tune and Mark is one of the most underated singers ever.
@xXmeeka27Xx I love this song too, I went to a free mudhoney concert here in Seattle back a few months ago, it was for the release of The New Belgium Beer "Ranger" IPA,
if you bought a single beer you'd get into the concert for free, I've never moshed so hard in my life. My ears were still ringing days after. great show.
@xXmeeka27Xx because of the mainstream media, society, religion, the digital age, instant gratification, texting(see digital age), and the government has pretty much destroyed the virtues, freedom, and music of rock n roll in the whole world but there are still some of us left
@xXmeeka27Xx because everyone's too concerned with making safe, danceable, synthpop influenced cutesy shit. i can't be the only one who's tired of this current trend.
@theredkatana i think there's a lot of people really tired of it. dance music now is like diosco was in the seventies - totally overproduced and soulless. punk happened as a backlash to disco, and i think we're long overdue for another revolution :)
somethings happening, though. things are changing and people are getting tired of the norm. we're on the cusp of something big.
@xXmeeka27Xx Hey meeka, you know i'm 63 so i might be slightly biased but i totally agree! I grew up listening to the stooges, MC5 etc.. then moved with the times and experienced the alternative/grunge era of the late 80's and early 90's and still love it all.. i found one new band i like named 'dirtee doggz' on myspace- i think thats how they spell it and i think they have that alternative feel but with a fresh kinda sound making it there own. Maybe we can all start a NewAlternativeRevolution!
wow, youre lucky to have been alive for all that. i wish i was. i was born in the nineties, so alternative music is kinda in my blood. i think what's happening is a sort of rebellion against formulaic music - so people are blending the energy of old punk and grunge with other styles. in toronto, where i live, there's this insanely cool underground ska-core scene. all the's scruffy kids playing hardcore punk but with a ska beat. the spirit is still there.
@xXmeeka27Xx yeah i guess i have been lucky compared to you youngsters. But you gotta get behind bands and support them, pull your friends into it too, thats what we used to do! Dont let anybody try to tell you what to do,music has more power than most people think and if an alternative scene was created again i believe the entertainment world would change for the better. This is that band i was talkin about myspace com/dirteedoggz there loud! what are the names of the bands your talking about?
@xXmeeka27Xx Hey meeka, you know i'm 63 so i might be slightly biased but i totally agree! b/c bands are hooked on money and not quality. I miss real "guts" music, not "whats' hip". Bands nowdays are so polished and pretty, even rock is'nt rock anymore. If you dont look good and wear brand name clothing youre not worthy of attention. Hate it. Miss ballsy bands like this, and real punk rock and grunge.
Sad that justin beiber who can bawl and whine in songs about infant issues is mainstream for preteens, and we got something with real emotion & passion
@wino001 yeah, it's so true man. ebverything is so geared to visuals... stuff like music videos and posters. people forget that music is supposed to be about sound. i miss the bands that were'nt afraid to be ugly or weird.
aaarrgghhhh, justin bieber is so freakishly popular here in canada. i'm so sick of hearing crappy autotuned committee-written fluff passed off as good music. hip hop is so ridiculously dead, which sucks, cause there's tons of great innovative rappers who don't get noticed.
@righteousrat But there's always a cure...whether it comes in the form of new bands or old bands, as long as its authentic and sounds good, there will always be hope. Down with modern effortless "music!"
