  • @rjp9871 Try it out, it may change your opinion!

    Coach Kozak

  • @rjp9871 - I was wondering what it was for too. Yet, shortly after this I saw another track training video with a very similar move. Think its worth a try. Looks like Kozak knows something. Ima put my athletes on it.

  • nice video, these are all tough moves!

  • @LifestylesofLaJolla Thanks so much!

  • I am going to refer to an ACE University of Wisconsin study on posterior activation during lunges, "Best Exercise for Gluteus medius

The quadruped hip extensions, stepups and lunges generated significantly more muscle activation than squats. Best Exercise for Hamstrings

Quadruped hip extensions, step-ups, lunges and four-way hip extensions showed significantly more EMG activity than squats."

  • @yman891 A long lunge is posterior dominant, not quad. Strong, flexible hamstrings help to increase stride length. It does not increase stride length because it simulates proper running form, but rather comes from an increase in posterior strength and power.

  • @KozakSportsPerform As an elite sprinter I can tell you that this workout is hopeless. These Lunges are VERY quad dominant, when pressure is applied through the front foot the hips move backwards, if an exercise is for hamstring/glute the hips will move forwards. Yes it is good to stretch out the hips but this exercise will not help an elite sprinter, try stepping backwards with the lunge to make it relevant to sprinting.

  • @KozakSportsPerform Also... Should point out that with these exercises the focus is the most important part!!! for example with the Lunge/Arm drive jumps you should mention that the pressure should be focused through the heel. And your overhead pushups are not very explosive, another pointless exercises for sprinting. Try studying actual sprint programs, and maybe some biomechanics. Another Crap personal trainer who thinks he knows everything about sprinting.

  • @KozakSportsPerform Would glute ham raises also be effective at targeting glute medius and minimus??

  • @civ34 Yes! I love GHR's! If you don't have access to a GHR Machine, you can also have someone hold your feet and do them manually. They are really tough, but well worth it.

  • @KozakSportsPerform Cheers mate! im pretty sure i have weak abuductors and just started them as a bit of assitance for deadlifts

  • another person that thinks that a long lunge increases stride length, it doesn't increase stride length. Stride length comes from pushing harder with the back leg not by getting the front leg to land further in front. Landing the front leg in front of the hips when running is incorrect and should not be incouraged in any form. Also that lunge starting at 4:00 uses heaps of quad, not something a sprinter should be aiming for

  • @TheEmkaable A traditional lunge only goes to a 90 degree angle at both knee joints. In this workout, I am doing an overhead lunge with a longer stride. The bigger steps allow more hamstring and glute activation in the movement. It can also help to lengthen stride length.

  • @TheCombativeMarine. This is an explosive workout for elite sprinters.

  • a little bit wrong on the 4:00 You have to do it Higher, you are doing it really low
