  • Is there any way you can show the world big mon!!!!!!!!!!!!! Great song I love chris johns version

  • Ben, how about working out the song " follow the leader." It is an old reno and smiley tune. I think you will like it! Thanks for the great music.

  • One of my favorite tunes ever, thanks for this! Beautiful guitar too!

  • i dont know what year it was,but gibson made what they called the bone crusher,it was bearclaw spruce on walnut,a full blown dreadnaught called a j 65 ,gibson only made a hand full of these things, and they were trying to out do the martin d 28. i think that walnut tone woods might be a happy medium between rose wood and mahogany. has any one ever seen an arched back slope shoulder made out of ceder on walnut, with a v profiled neck? i mean is it possible to make a guitar like that ?,

  • ben.... why are you so good?

  • man you are good

  • Hey can you send me his e-mail so I can get one of these guitars!

  • geez thats smooth,,,

  • Hi Ben great vid as always...on the guitar front I've got a friend looking for a new guitar...so would appreciate an email or link to his site...cheers

  • kašpárku

  • Thanks a bunch Ben!, Big Help!

  • Your videos are very helpful thanks a lot. What strength pick do you use for fast picking? Any exercises you would recommend to improve scales and speed?

  • @alphapup100 I use a really thick pick...at least a 1mm, thought the tortoise shell pick I use is more like a 1.2 . Hope that helps! I should be putting a vid out shortly about exercises. Stay tuned!

  • Thanks for your help, Ben. What strength of pick do you like for fast picking? Any exercises to build speed you would recommend? Thanks again.

  • man, ive always learned it better to just listen to it fast, then figure it out. ive always played everything by ear, and the whole slowing down thing really messes with me. well, at least when its slowed that much. plus, i cant read sheet music or tabs either one. but, awesome lesson overall man. ive also taken up mandolin recently, and its not taking off like i thought it would. could you maybe make a few vids for your mando guys out here? thanks alot buddy. keep them coming.

  • Hey Ben, I am sure you tabbed it....I really like it cause it's a mix of Bryan Sutton style, Tony Rice (how could we miss him) but also you added crosspicking and down-ups...very very cool....so, the tab I saw in your website is the one you're playing here or is an easier version? Regarding guitars I would really love to show you an Italian very young guitar maker who builts at collings standards level...his name is Mario Pistella...a genius!!! He's on facebook..

  • The tab is EXACTLY as you see here...that's why it took me so long. All the songs are exact transcriptions with pick direction, chords, and backup tracks included. Enjoy!

  • I've never seen this guitar model, what make is it?

  • This is a Henson guitar made by Steve Taylor! It's awesome!

  • Thanks Ben

  • Hey Ben is this tabbed out anywhere that you know of?. I am a bit slow and even at your slow speed I just can't keep up. Just wondering?? Hope all is well and that you had a great Thanksgiving and hope you have a wonderful Christmas...

    Thanks Bud

  • Hey buddy!

I've got the tab sitting RIGHT here and I'm almost finished with my website dude and should have 'em posted before too long! Thanks for being patient, and have a Merry Christmas!

  • Did that fill in guitar have maple back and sides. That sounds really sweet. If it didn't sound good, you would make it sound good any way.

  • It was walnut, I believe. Thanks!

  • Black Walnut Backs and Sides, Spruce top, Birdseye Maple binding. Ebony Fret Board, Elixir Strings, Stainless steel Frets

One extremely good guitar player having fun picking away on it!! Thanks Ben

  • don't usually do this but had to say Thank You Ben, If not for you I truly would not be where I am today, you save me so much time and help with creativity, you also polished my foggy mountain breakdown, now who else would do that :) your the best!!! what are your sisters and you gonna call yourselves? anything on the horizon with that?

  • Is that an a&m ring on your finger, ben?

  • Class of '01!!!!

  • hey, is your website up and running yet?

  • Great stuff as usual man, I've been working on this tune for 3 days and nights now, hopefully will get it uppped soon.

  • do you use a 3 sided pick or one of those egg shaped,im finally up to a medium on picks,or does the shape very on the person,

  • I use a big tortoise shell 3 sided pick. I didn't always use that, though. I think it just depends on the person. It took me a while to get used to a pick that big, but now it's tough to play with a normal guitar pick.

  • good day sir on your answer to the pick you use is it a mock or Red Bear type or is it real tortoise shell and if so where do you buy them?

    thanks

  • agree 100% other peopel hate my pic, i cant use anything else, when i loose it im lost till i find a replacement

  • That is just a beutiful guitar. The back is awesome and it sounds like a high priced custom martin. Is that an adirondack top?

  • That it is!

  • Hey BanjoBen! I tabbed out your stuff and have been working on getting it up to speed. It's so fun but man I can only play it cleanly at 111 pbm. Any faster and i start making mistakes. I was curious to know about how long it took for you to write, memorize, and play this at the speed you are playing. You are a sick player and love your lessons... peace out!

    suhnami

  • awesome! it's like a combination of Tony Rice & Conan O'Brien! great pickin' and funny guy

  • That, my friend, is a true compliment :) Thanks for watching!

  • hmm..apparently, I'm a whiner...cuz nobody else is bothered by the lag...or maybe they don't have it..!!...anyhoo...rock on ben

  • luckily my ear is good enough to fill in the blanks somewhat....but...anybody else have this problem?...

  • p.s. I'm sure it's not on your end...I've run into this before...dammit....haven't figgered out how to save the vids...I think that would solve the problem...

  • love ya ben!!...I'm just bummed cuz there's a lag ..video is just behind audio...kind of a bummer when trying to learn...but not bad enough for me to stop trying..!!..just a bump in the road...

  • cheers Ben good stuff as always.

    EJS

  • I like your focus on down/up picking technique. Keep up the great work.

  • thanks for what you're doing, ben. you're unlocking this all for me. and I am becoming able to do it. you can't put a price on that.

you should do a video of like half a dozen of your most trusted fallback licks. your go-to fillers. that'd be awesome. thanks again, man.
