I watched this documentary with my brother, and we thought it was brilliant. We've been lifelong fans of the Sherman Brothers' music, so we were thrilled when we had a chance to watch this film. Although it is amazing, it does have a sad, somber feeling to it. When we finished watching the movie, I told my brother that I love him.
Walt's favorite sherman brothers song was feed the birds. He used to have them play him the song on fridays in his office and he used to stare out the window while the song was playing. They still play the song on fridays in walts memory.
Yeah, seriously. A lot of us grew up to these movies and these songs and it's amazing that these two guys did all of those songs. There are songs I can never forget... whether I want to remember them or not haha.
I've heard this documentary will likely be coming out on DVD in March 2010. It will be sold online (not in stores) so check your online purchase sites in March. Hope you enjoy it!
Their body of work is truy incredible! I HAVE to see this movie when it is released on DVD! I love what John Lassiter says, so true. I am still singing these songs 20+ years later.
Its amazing that 2 people influenced so many people, just with songs. I bet so many people don't even know who these men are, I can't wait to see this movie.
Respect to Sherman, but that's the first Disney generation...if you're looking to really grip at least MY generation of Disney watcher (post old and pre crappy Hannah Montana/Jonas Brothers), you have to look to Alan Menken and films starting from The Little Mermaid going all the way up to The Hunchback of Notre Dame (Tarzan had a pretty good soundtrack too...).
wow. you really do learn something new everyday! i cant believe these two men are responsible for that insanely happy feeling you get every time you listen to a classic Disney movie song!
they wrote all those amazing, memorable songs from every movie every child in the world for more than 5 decades or something like that, saw??? that is truelly outstandlingly extrodinary. how can two people make songs so incredible and good for sooo long and each time they do its beterr than before! every song they made was a hit and i'm pretty sure most people remaber them all.
i didn't know anyone can achieve that, the artists today have maybe seven hits in their whole career
i'm excited to see this. i miss disney's original movies, like the little mermaid, peter pan and especially alice in wonderland. the prinecess and the frog also looks good, because it has a hint of the classic disney.
I believe that the first part from 1:00 to 1:14 is from the Jungle Book and the 1:14 to 1:35 is Feed the Birds from Mary Poppins that I know for sure.
As some one who isn't much of a fan of Disney movies even as a child this was a great story told.
