@phishman706 I was talking mainly Pop music , those bands you mentioned were not mainstream in the 80's. They were either alternative , indie or underground whereas The Specials were a successful Pop band that had substantial mainstream chart success. As a matter of fact it was rumoured that Mick Jagger was going to sign them up to his own label as he thought ska was going to be the "NEXT BIG THING!!!". Unfortunately it was not to be and eventually the Hair & Spandex bands took over.
