Watching this again I think this is one of the best performances of Debi's career! She attacked the ice: difficult, but perfect jump combination, gorgeous extension on her double axel and her footwork was right on the beat and flashy!The audience loved her best and always rooting foor her!

I love them both and let's be honest: They were the "GREATS" of their era and made skating very exciting---something it hasn't been for a long time!

They both deserve respect. Witt won more championships and deserves them. But, Thomas is as great to her fans.

Debi was so dynamic in this program! I'm surprised the judges scored her higher over Witt as they always showed partiality towards Witt!

For me, when Thomas was on, she was the more exciting and superior skater--better line, better jumps and better Figures. True, she wasn't as beautiful as Witt, but who is?

Witt never realized her goal of being a famous actress after her sports because Amercians, by and large, didn't find her so exciting and the US is where it counts.

You say that with sarcasm but the reality is if even Trenary, who couldnt hold Witt's jockstrap if she tried, was able to win a World title over Ito with the figures still being around, then it was certainly possible for Witt to have. Actually Witt probably would have won the 89 Worlds in fact. She always beat Leistner and Trenary in figures so 1st in figures. With Ito being now 7th in figures Witt only needs 2nd in the SP and LP over Trenary and Leistner. Easy for her.

Interestingly...I think if Debi and Kat had skated clean shorts more often during their competitive history (this and Calgary were the only times), we would have seen Debi come out on top much more often. I think she was superior to Witt on every element (jumps, spins, definitely. I would say footwork was a draw).
