  • Nice, you guys sound like you'd be exceptional in a personal setting where listeners can hear all the sounds and musicians can just play. Like you dont need to practice and can innovate on the fly. You know this obviously.

  • if there was ever an album made around a guitar, it would be a gibson les paul like that one

  • @lowedt That is what this album was about... making the album around Mike Campbell's playing style and his 200,000 dollar vintage Les Paul guitar.

  • 6:49 - watch this for a while, it has VERY much the flavor of LZ 'Since I Been Lovin' You' and yet I really like what he's doing that's different - I'd like to cop some of these licks and runs just to learn a bit from him.

1959 Les Paul, worth nearly what my house is (up here in Canada!)

Vote up for vintage LPs being used to create and play music!

  • best music since whipping post times i just love the guitaring on this album

  • What is the song they start to play at 8:34 ? I just can't figure it. i know i've heard it somehwere at some point and it's been hounting me ever since. Great track.

  • @DeivasLT Help Me by Sonny Boy Williamson.

  • @Hefelump1 Thank You very much!

  • @DeivasLT Not a problem!

  • @Hefelump1 thanks too!! sonny boy williamson - help me

  • @DeivasLT I would like to find out too. I have the CD but its not on it. I like that song.

  • @DeivasLT I got it, I knew I hear it before. 08:34 That is "Dr Feelgood - You Gotta Help Me "

It would have been cool if they would release it.

  • @Rotorzilla @Rotorzilla Yeah, agree with You on that. Gotta love how Petty & the Heartbreakers perfom that song.

  • 13 mins is NOT enuf! I was just settled in for an hour and a half or TWO! MORE MORE MORE. We want more. I can recall when we were hearing all over the media, "He'll never play again..." and thinking ~with some panic "NOoooohhh That CAN'T BE!" God is GOOD! We're STILL reaping what He sowed in your soulz! Like fine barrel aged whiskey.....smooothe heat & REEwarding! May He keep Blessing you with "the magic."

    hhhhhhhh . . . . . . . . . \ :~ }}}}}

  • MAN what i wouldn't give to be there in that studio/clubhouse. i'd be willing to be a fly on the wall, their gofer, the carpet under their feet. being a musician, i reallly can appreciate this setting. good God, can you imagine the security around this place, all those vintage guitars, etc

  • Tom Petty and Mike Campbell are geniuses!

  • Great documentary, great music! Mr. Petty, the shades – present from Jeff Lynne?)))

  • Love it!

  • I love how they get along so well as a group, as friends, actually they love each other like brothers. That they would hang out, play together, sing together, just let each other throw in whatever pops into their head as something that could work for a song, shows just how much they value each other professionally. TP&HB get along much like TP/TW got along because of mutual respect, trust, faith, admiration. Any ego issues get chucked at the door, because they know they don't need them their.

  • No one does what tom and the boys do.. Keep killing the airwaves, even if the radio dont play it, you know we will!! Rock nRoll shall live until the World crumbles!

  • " i dont have a definition for mojo. i thought it was mofo" LOL

  • Beauty

my fave docu in life so far

  • One of the songs they do in this documentary is awesome, but is not on the CD! It's one that starts around 8:30 and continues until 11:20. The song is "Help me", by Sonny Boy Williamson II. Does anyone know how to get Tom Petty's version as on this documentary?

  • @rutgerjanlange Check out the version of "Help Me" by Ten Years After - Alvin Lee's British Blues Band of the Late 60's.

This is a great documentary - I love that Petty is branching out by getting back to his blues roots. It always comes back to the blues...

  • ...Tom Petty...Sigh...More than a fan, we're "involved".

  • 2:00-2:08 that's cause anyone with musical sense loves the blues

  • Dear God you Sam Jones... you had to end the video with a Crop Duster... My two passions in the same documentary. Great video and it made me appreciate Tom and the Heart Breakers even more.

  • This is fantastic! I love behind the scenes / behind the music insight, especially of some of the most talented musicians in the world!

  • Love Tom's sneakers!

  • excellent piece...i appreciate anything that delves into the making of tom petty and the heartbreakers music. his sound is real, & gets to the heart of me and so many. i don't worry that the band or TP will ever stop in their creation of music ..it's too much of who they are and i for one have had a much better life experience listening and feeling their music. TY TP, heartbreakers, wilbury's, mudcrutch, stevie nicks & on& on for all you do, did and will do to make the world a better place

  • omg omg tom petty i love you you soo shouldve won that grammy i love you 4 life

  • Yes Kids . . . . . . . do listen carefully because some day they may not be making music like this anymore. It will all be Justin Bieber and then where will we be????

  • What a great album...

  • what is that song at 8:36?

  • @paowixta I don't know, It's not on the 'mojo' album. i wanna know too, its cool.

  • @Dude30977 yes i know, it sounds so great! i want that song :D

  • @paowixta its a cover of a blues song i think its a muddy waters song

  • @DrDezzzy

The song is: ''help me'' by sonny boy williamson. Although i believe the song is called little girl blues on tompetty.com. but maybe is that another song. This song and mystery of love didnt make it on the album because they hadnt enough time to record it ;-)

  • cool that original bassist Ron Blair is back. forgot about that. and of course, R.I.P. Howie Epstein. both great "Petty" members.

  • This is the way they started out making albums. This is the first album I bought since stan left the band still miss him but am real glad Mike is finally getting his due

  • Love this!

  • Amazing stuff...!

  • Really nice seeing this video, good to see them still making great music, and even greater to see Mike's playing highlighted throughout the whole album

  • what song are they playing at 1:20?

  • @xxxthedaytonxxx Help Me by Sonny Boy Williamson

  • Tom Petty is such a modest composer. Wildflowers album is a wonderful example of his ability to compose with the orcestra the the background. Absolutely love it. It's what sets this band apart from so many, the detail and complexity in the melody. Like Dr. Dre, they 'perfect the beat.' Doesnt get much better than a heart felt Heart Breakers song!

  • Tears pooring out of my eyes over this album. Hope you take the Grammy home!

  • Comment removed

  • hope it wins the grammy

  • ULTRA COOL!

  • I drive a lot, and Mojo is really gets me there! I freakin love this album! You guys just keep getting better!

  • Live off the floor....I would like to see how many artists...can do this...

  • @SONGABUNDANCE128 check out a Ky band called john king and southbound there a little raw but this is the same direction there headed in with a litle time

  • TP and HB is definitely the BEST road music!!

  • benny goodman-like and whatnot

  • GENIUS!!!!!

this stuff just keeps getting better.

    love the purity.

  • rock on heartbreakers

  • Wonderful lighting & photography.

  • Best record of 2010, no doubt. Great work, guys, I can't wait to see what's next.

I just wish some of the younger artists would try and make music like this.

  • @Wandered1441 me too ^^

  • @Wandered1441 why? let them do what they feel- These boys are from a different time- go check out minus the Bear or the lost Prophets. I am 52 and a huge classic rock/blues guy, but there is a lot of good new music out there, you just have to look for it- don't get me wrong- tom petty is one of the best acts ever in my opinion, but don't sell some of these new guys short. there is a lot of talent waiting to be discovered-

  • love this

  • such a kool album, I listened to this for an 8 hour road trip and never changed cds. Beautiful

  • What song is the one that starts at 8:37??

  • @loudmont Sonny Boy Williamson "help me"

  • I wonder if they have MOJO monkey hands for women to get their men not to stray.

  • Mike Campbell and Tom Petty are Mojo... this is such a cool CD.. love it, deep and with feeling. Love playing Petty music !

  • Does anyone know if the featured cover of Sonny Boy Williamson's "Help Me" is available in any form? Download?

  • Three people missed the "thumbs up" button. I'm sure it was an accident.

  • awesome~ we want organic~ going into the studio next week~

  • Thanks Tom

  • Mojo does travel well...every day driving home from work the past two months!

  • TOM PETTY,

I AM NOT YOUR GREATEST FAN BUT HAVE TO SAY THIS IS THE MOST HONEST INTERPRETATION OF ANY ALBUM YOU HAVE EVER CREATED....!!!!!!!

    JIM CANGIALOSI

  • What's the name of that new song they do that sounds like Zeppelin?

  • @sfbayguysf i should have know it, foockin awesome song

  • Great video. Nice to see where it all happens. Thanks for lettin us in.EW

  • My best concert ever ? Tom Petty & the Heartbreakers, the Grateful Dead & Bob Dylan all under one roof, date is kinda foggy, it was in the twin cities. 1985 or 86?

  • i hate ads

  • I am going to see Tom for the first time on Thursday night in Tampa. He is my absolute favorite!! I am so excited!! Can't wait!!! :0)

  • @scooterhodge1 You won't be disappointed, I've seen him 3 times and the recorded music doesn't compare to how great they sound live! Enjoy!

  • Mike Campbell is such and underated guitar player. He is amazing.I think he is one of the best of all time.He makes that guitar howl and always has.

  • "Its more a polaroid than a painting" dude what a fucking man tom petty is

  • brothers making music! awesome......

  • Mike said he felt the album was built around his new guitar. If you are going to do that, I'm glad they chose Gibson. Not a commercial... just a huge fan.

  • @alienhuman ..It would be worth investigating...just Who's Gibson this was...you can bet that Somebody Else had it...Peter Green maybe?

  • F'n AMAZING! That is what they are.

  • THERE IS NO ONE LIKE TOM PETTY!!! THE FEELING YOU GET WHEN YOU HEAR ONE OF HIS SONGS IS INCREDIBLE! And when you see him in concert words can NEVER describe it!

  • Steve Ferrone's english!? I do miss stan but steve's pretty good

  • @christianalexlea ...Steve used to play drums for jazz artist George Duke...He has been around the block a lot longer than Stan and been a Heartbreaker for 15 years...I agree, he is awesome! Catch some of his jazz solos on youtube

  • @DoowahDiatribe Yeahhhh hes good i just litened to all of Mojo for the first time todayy, i knew steve'd replaced Stan a long time ago but i never realised he was English before (Im english)! Hes pretty awesome drummer but i still prefer stan for the Heartbreakers! Ill look up some of his jazz drumming tho :D

  • @christianalexlea ..it helps to talk. I am a real T & H fan as I know you are. It is so cool to get different looks on the band. Since I was born in the same town as Tom, and heard two of the earlier band (epics, mudcrutch) back when I was a bit younger - I like everything all of them have ever done. Love ya

  • @christianalexlea You are right that Stan has an awesome spark. Maybe it's kinda like the Howie and Ron thing...both awesome at what they do :)

  • @DoowahDiatribe Hmm I'd never thought about it like the ron and howie thing! maybe if steve ever leaves Stan will return like Ron did! because I'm sure they're still on good terms (they reunited at the rock n roll hall of fame thing in about '02 I think) (: tom petty is tooo good

  • @christianalexlea Ya, I like what your feeling because I think your thinkin you want the band to go on Forever. Though Steve loves the rest of the band and they connect with him, and he's gonna be there unless Humpty Dumpty comes around the corner. Stan quit - the band of that time..Bet he wishes he was playin on MOJO though!

  • woohoo British drummer!!!

  • THIS video made me buy the whole album.

  • Did I hear Tom say that's the best track about Sonny Boy Williamson's Help Me" and then it wasn't on the album?

  • @tpshbchick ...this album's songs were written by tom and the band...they were talking about things they loved...that's all

  • Did I hear Tom say that's the best track about Sonny Boy Williamson

You got to help me's's "help Me" and then it wasn't on the album?

  • I thought it was MOFO LOL 12:58

  • I became a fan with MOJO ,now I am buying all Tom Petty albums

great Band great albums great songs

  • @Gamunubala You've got a helluva lot of music to collect then... good luck!!!!

TP and the HB's are the BEST !!!

  • @selenah1 Thanks

  • unlike a britney spears record this wonderful snap shot in time will live on.

yeah when the pop icons of today are forgotten this tom petty record will continue to age well

  • you keep playing your songs Heartbreakers, and we'll always listen, happily and whole heartedly.

  • Comment removed

  • This band just gets better, and better!

  • this album blew me away big time !! excellent album !! I didn't know they were that good. whole album is filled with emotions !!Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers Rocks !!

  • The transformation of Tom Petty into a true American legend comparable with Ray Charles, Johnny Cash, Jimi Hendrix or Bob Dylan.

  • really enjoying this album

caught the show in chicago a this July- maybe the best working rock band out there still

  • what is the mic that Tom is singing into?

  • This record. is so perfect in so many ways.. absolutely love love love

  • kids...listen carefully.

  • @BallenasFilmandTV yes yes they sould

  • awesome documentary/film/video but I must say that anime ad at the beginning is probably the least fitting advertisement that youtube could have picked

  • awesome Heartbreakers...enjoy the blues flavor!

  • Amazing band...such talent...but i miss Stan Lynch in the back.....

  • Anyone know what the deal is with the bass drum? It looks like a snare drum vertically is mounted to the front of it.

  • It is a transducer (microphone). It's called a "sub-kick." More surface area = more low frequencies at close range. Good for situation where you can't stand a mic 4+ feet away from the front of the kick to get those long waves.

  • Excuse my cynicism, but In this day and age where the bar has been lowered to the lowest common denominator-disingenuous, manufactured, manipulated, fraudulent crap-it gives me the best feeling in the world knowing that TP and the Heartbreakers still put out great works like MOJO-genuine, sincere, real and with soul. Keep fighting the good fight Tom!

  • the "when you walk you walk with me" song is a cover its called "Help Me" its by sonny boy williamson

  • anyone know the name of the song thier playing from 10-11 minute marks?

  • im going to see them in dallas and houston later this year. i've seen them 6 times and its always good. These guys are rock N roll Royalty. Greatest American rock band ever!!!!!

  • Omg that '59 Les Paul is amazing!

  • great vibe on this recording , after seeing the Club House I can see why , live cuts are always the best I think . And I agree , record of the year , so far !

  • Addictive and a truly truly amazing CD. IMHO, the best sounding yet. I love the "live" album approach. I've always felt they sound great, if not better, live than their studio self.

  • Tom Petty and The Heartbreakers are THE great American rock band, hands down. Bruce who?

  • Springsteen rocks, but Tom Petty and the heartbreakers are definetly the greatest American rock band ever. No doubt about it!!

  • @fingerpeel

    Bruce SPRINGSTEEN!

I actually am a huge Bruce fan, but it just so happens I'm a huge Tom Petty and The Heartbreakers fan too. Both of them are excellent.

  • ...More like a Polaroid than a painting...

    Well said TP.

  • awesome, just awesome. TP's masterful lyrics, and the band of bands with of course the MOST under rated, and tasteful guitarist on the planet gettin' his props! Wail those blues boys...

  • i like this album

  • When I'm in the car... When I'm in the car it travels with me, and I see the clouds dance to the rythmic sounds of my poetic majestic velvet sounded words, that cover my soul in an array of neon colors which takes me back to the bourbon street blues days, stuck in suck me off alley's and dark corridors of lonesome stoned death.. Then I awake from my freedom dream and crawl back to reality...

  • Chi, Ki, Wa, "The Force", or Mojo - I don't care what you call it, the HB's are a tasteful Rockn' Roll band.

  • does anybody know the name of the song they were playing when it was like when i walk, you walk with me, and when i talk you talk to me

  • Album of the year!

  • Incredible!! Can't wait to see them in Houston 9.24.10!

  • @laverne610 DAMMIT!!!

  • @captross07 WHY?

  • @laverne610 I WON'T BE HERE!!!!!

  • @captross07 Oh, I'm sorry. Ends up, my nephew is getting married that day in LA...I will miss it as well.. :(

  • The chemistry between the band has got to have a huge influence on the music. It's really cool to see. That's Mojo - and I don't take that stuff for granted anymore. I'd love to find some people to play with where we have that kind of chemistry. It's powerful.
