  • Its one of the last 2 remaining handbrake roller coasters still in operation in the world....

  • @snowsbeau

Park opens only for school holiday season and can be booked for special events

TPR obviously booked it just to ride the coasters. It's usually very busy when open.

  • luna parkkkk <3

  • This ride is turning 101 this year, it is the oldest operating roller coster in the WHOLE WORLD!!!

  • @RandomSandy135 No, that title actually belongs to Leap-the-Dips in Pennsylvania :)

  • The scenic railway is the longest continously running Roller Coaster in the world and one of the very few with a brakeman on board.

  • It was freaky on the first drop but the rest was so awesome!

  • Oh god..I went on that in year 2 and I was crying my head off. I still remember it. And the guy who was standing up on the roller coaster was like laughing..UGHHHH my mum never told me i was going on a roller coaster. This was like 7 years ago

  • I went on this and liked it, but couldn't help being disappointed at how short it was. Perhaps they should make the tickets more expensive so you can go around three times.

  • this is great! but i would like to know how you hold on to the camera while also holding on for the bumpy rides? good job anyway! (i love luna park and i love this ride)

  • @123codfan cool story bro my favorite part is when you talk about your self and you SHUT UP

  • Believe it or not, he stands there the hold ride, with not safety belt, he just holds on!

  • that dumbass y would u stand up?

  • @TheMiiJacob Because it's his job. As slow as that rollercoaster is by modern standards, it required a brakeman to keep it's speed to a safe level when cornering.

  • @TheMiiJacob because hes a pro and he knows what his doing retard

  • hahah i love goin on this when i go to luna park!!!! we have the best one in melbourne!!!

  • awesome

    but wats with da paddling

  • just a tip** go early in the morning, and make it the first ride you go on. during the day the scenic railway is PACKED i mean, unless you want to wait for about an hour to go on it. go on it first because it goes around the whole park, and you can see what rides you wanna go on. and you can also see the beach in front :)

  • @veedeeproductions

When I went there I got on the last ride of the day. I only had to wait about ten minutes, and I very much liked it.

  • This seems like a nice, relaxing ride.

But I'm back in 1912 (when this ride was built), this was some scary ass shit.

  • to the right at 3:30 was that a blacksmith's cabin?

  • @blankjoe567 They're there to control the brakes of the trains, that's how old this thing is :)

  • @blankjoe567 its the second oldest coaster in the world. It was built in 1912 and has been running ever since.

  • @LokiCocola its actually the oldest.

  • I went to the Luna Park in USA. :)

  • what a fast chain :)

  • Here's a video take from Vuoristorata at Linnanmäki which also has a brakeman (built in 1951). Video has been shot by a brakeman and it's offical.

    watch?v=lb_qS8HXo4w

  • my hometown theme park i really wish we had better rides!!

  • i love the way your fate is in the hands of the brake man.

  • Yeah I live here, been on it heaps. It looks over the ocean if you can see, and a lot of melbourne, so that's why it's scenic.

It's like the 2nd oldest coaster in the world. And even though it looks pretty slow.. it's actually fast, they always look super slow on youtube.. even the superman escape which is fast as ahhah.

I've always been worried like what if the brakeman has a seizure or something we'd all die !

  • I got stuck on this ride once.

We were about 6 metres up the chain lift and then the car let go of the cable and we rolled backwards...

    I haven't been on it since :/

  • Why is there someone standing on the train. Is he actually pumping the brakes?! And where is everyone? The park is deserted. Kinda creepy.

  • @snowsbeau yes, if the brake guy 'had a seizure' everyone would die, well, they have emergency brakes:) and it would be empty cuz they have test days once every 2 or 3 months, otherwise, yes, we would all die.

  • Now I know what ride those Jet Coasters in Japan are modeled after!

  • What is the name of the Spiral 'Coaster near the end of the 1st run???

It looks really fun(I like compact helixes). :D

BTW-Is this park at all related to the Luna Park that(used to be?) in the USA??

My memory's fuzzy ATM but I recall there being a Luna Park in the USA also at some point... :S

    Anyway,awesome vid.I prefer older 'Coaster-styles overall personally... :D

    -Peace!

  • @0ut51d3R the rides near the ends called the metropilise.

    its in australia, in melbourne.

  • @Hannahbabiixo Thanks for the info.

Also,I /always/ read descrips. 2 vids. so I was aware of this being in AU...

Anyways,I'm really thankful U replied.I was beginning 2 think I would never hear from any1 on this...

    -Peace :)

  • That's an ooold coaster

  • Not much airtime by the looks of it . Unless im proven wrong. :p

  • Wow, it's a stand up/sit down wooden rollercoaster :D

  • Wow, that man is standing on the coaster!

  • How fast does Scenic Railway goes? (Tell me in MPH, please!!!)

  • holly shit this ride has a brake man now that is old school!!!!

  • Longest coaster ride ever..

  • That kind of job requires balls of steel... Wow, I'd be scared shitless barely strapped on that thing

  • Comment removed

  • So how big (or small) is the park? About 1-5 acres?

  • @SynthOrgan About 3 acres as a guess.

  • OK- Some of those hills make me want to get out and PUSH.

  • you should go to disney world

  • @altontowersaddict it's the 2nd oldest roller coaster in the world.. you have to give it some credit.

  • Lovely park . Fantastic ride!

  • what if kingda ka had a brakeman....Hmmmm....

  • @T4L25

That would be pretty dangerous and really sad. :P

  • AWESOME. Too bad there isn't anything like this in the states or is there? I honestly don't know. But it's pretty cool.

  • did u get a video of the galaxi at luna park?

  • Does that have upstop wheels?

  • It looks like a nice coaster.

  • Love the guy (operator?) standing between the cars. Did he ever hop off and push? Lovely old ride.

  • Whoever's job it is to stand up on a roller coaster has the best job ever!!! =D

  • @CoolioJoe100 Seriously :) I've NEVER seen a coaster like this and with a break person (or whatever they're called) is pretty awesome.

  • @CoolioJoe100 they look freaky lol

  • @CoolioJoe100

they contral the speed and brake of the ride

  • @CoolioJoe100 Dont he break the car ?

  • @rekoaster Yes.

  • Many newer coasters have too short a ride, considering those long waits in line for about a minute ride. This one gives you a ncie long and fun ride.

  • LOL HOW DOES THAT MAN STAND WHAT

  • This is a Very and very old coaster right??

  • This is one of those coasters that is scary because it feels like the ride is about to fall apart.

  • Good God, I remember that from the early 70's, it was my first coaster :-)

  • It dosn't look to scenic, but I got a kick out of the break man standing.

  • lol that man just stands up

  • this looks rly painful and bumpy :s

  • Isn't this a wooden side friction coaster? cuz roberts424 is right these are like the oldest in the world! The only other 1 i've heard of still in existence is the oldest roller coaster in the world (which is a side friction coaster) Leap the Dips in Lakemont Park, PA

  • @frenchfrey65 I don't think this is side friction, I think, someone please correct me if I'm wrong, it's using wheels like a train. If you look at the track it looks sorta like that of a railroads. Plus at the end of the ride before entering the station they cross a switch. Something you could never do if there were wheels on the bottom.

Tho I must say, Leap the Dips is my favorite coaster of all time, not even something like Rock n' Roller Coaster at Disney World can compare to Leap the Dips.

  • @OriginalAlphathewolf Nope, according to RCDB.com it is side-friction. RCDB is the most reliable coaster fact source on the net.

  • @SynthOrgan It must be the side friction as in the wheels itself because there is no way that is in the same vain as the Leap the Dips side friction coaster at Altoona,PA.

  • Aren't these kinds of coasters the oldest in the world?

  • I dont like how ever turn is like 1mph.

  • this is so awesome! is this ride still open? Cause I might go to Melbourne soon.

  • when was this built? it looks old but awesome!

  • Wow!

I've seen many types of Wooden Rollercoaster tracks, but I've never seen one like this!

    Thanks for posting!

  • wie alt ist die Bahn ?

Da fährt ja noch ein Bremser mit!!!

  • I'd like to stand in this coaster like this man does.

  • Anyone know what that red ride on the right hand side at 2:17 is?

  • @TimMc333 It was a pirate ship.

  • @themeparkreviewTPR no it wasn't :P it was the metropolis.

  • @TimMc333 Was it metropolis?

  • Amazing quality! What camera do you have, and do you have a normal lens?

  • If this was maybe 40 years in the past, this coaster would be considered the most intense.

  • looks fun, old, and about to break

  • did that thing ever fall still ??? my god, a tortoise is even faster.

  • nice....... first comment XD
