♪ Workin' on the rollback, quality goes down down. Workin' on the rollback Oops! another store goes down♪ Walmart rollback working hard to destroy the competition. Always. (evil Laugh) HeHe.

this was winter 2002. i remember because i heard that song all night long on the overnight shift at walmart. after these theme, the spring theme was a smiley robinhood.
Considering that they're a private company, I've never understood what's wrong with them paying what they like to their employees. If the employees don't like it, let them find work elsewhere.
@omxpablo19 So Wal-Mart is providing them with jobs where they would otherwise have none. It's actually providing a service.
It is still up to those workers to voluntarily contract with Wal Mart to obtain jobs there. They may "have no choice" in your estimation, but that does not give any private company an obligation to pay anyone any amount of money.
so according to your outlook: companies shouldnt feel obligated to provide a safe enviornment for its workers, offer breaks, provide insurance, etc?
There is a reason why ethics exist. Im sure if you were stuck on the shit end of the stick, you would have a different opinion. Not to mention, Im sure its easy to make such an assertion from your position.
@omxpablo19 What is my position? Either you know, or you'll being awfully presumptuous. I am not rich.
I believe quite strongly in ethics, but I do not think ethics should be forced on to people or onto their property. If you do not approve of Wal-Mart (which is your right), boycott them. Companies should not feel obligated to provide any of that for their workers--it is the workers' and consumers' job to demand that, however, and make the alternative economically infeasible.
@omxpablo19 No business owner worth their salt would intentionally endanger their workers. If an owner can't afford to provide or maintain safety measures or equipment, etc, they either have to move the business to where those measures aren't required or enforced, or close the business down. Either way means no job for you. It's thw workers' responsibility to look out for their own safety, not the employer's, and definitely not the government's.
