The first time I ever saw/heard of Kristian Bush, he was in a band called Billy Pilgrim and opening for Melissa Etheridge. Amazing band with amazing songs, just as Sugarland is. Don't underestimate Kristian. Jennifer may be the star, but Kristian's influence is strong.

What a joy it is to watch and listen to her do her thing. When she hangs that note out to dry at 2:12, you realize how gifted she is - from one frickin' note.

When most singers would do that, you'd get five measures worth of unpleasant hollering. With her, it's just pure, luscious perfect-pitch tone with just the right vibrato.

@edhunter1959 I'm about to cover this. I agree. Chords are simple I IV and V. Trick, however is to MAKE it seem to be unique, and different. Kristian is a brilliant guitar smith. He takes simple and makes it sound stellar........I'm in awe. Copying his technique has opened another world of guitarmanship to me (I've been playing 4 years). Capo, voicing......transitions...all beautiful. Doesn't take sweep arpeggios and Zac Wylde speed to create amazing music.

LOL! it's a shame the actual "country" performances of the night were looked over for the pop performances. I really hope Reba and Sugarland score #1 hits with both of their songs. Sugarland is an amazing country duo, and Reba continues to prove why she's not going away anytime soon, and why she continues to be the reigning Queen of Country. They both were fabulous.
