Seems so. With google I just found a interview with Glenn Close who was the Leila in the original show. She says that Leila don't really want to be part of that.

She wasn't. Basically, her character was very unhappy because her best friend was unintentionally stealing all of her attention and she felt left alone. I felt very bad for her character in the end.
