This is so terrible, I work at an urgent care clinic and we always make sure to check on our patients in the lobby and if someone is in urgent care...shortness of breath, bleeding, high blood pressure, anything urgently urgent, we get them back there immediately! That is terrible!

I know, I used to live in the US for 5 years and payed a huge amount just to be insured in California. I heared so many storys from fellow students which have had enormous problems when they had to see the doctor. Here in Switzerland you can choose your own insurance and no matter what insurance you have everybody is treated the same way, no matter if you're rich or not! I have never seen a person that could not afford insurance here.

I live in London where there have been many cases where someone attempting to help someone being beaten/ mugged, have been shot or stabbed to death, MANY cases. There is no point in giving your life up to help a stranger. The best thing you can do is steer clear and call the police. But it is tragic and sad that we have to think like this.

I live in Brooklyn. It's just terrible, I remember when this happened because this is when my grandpa was going to go there for surgery. This is one of the hospitals I would never want to go to. The other is Coney Island hospital, which is right by my house.
christ. i had a huge gash in my elbow from going through a window. bleeding everywhere, the muscle and everything was hanging out and it took atleast 2 hours to call me back. and you know whats funny? the quack doctor had ordered the nurse to just staple up my arm. and he walked away. now i suffer from a huge scar because the doctor didnt want to put STITCHES in like he was supposed to. staples are apparently only for abdominal and the head. the bastards just want their money.

This hospital once had a great reputation and has slow gone to the shits in the last few years. The construction site at Kings county hospital is a perfect example of how slow this hospital moves. The construction started when I was born in 1985 and still continues to this day. Maimonides Hospital and Coney Island Hospital built new hospitals in less than 2 years. This hospital is a disgrace amoung hospital institutions.
The hospital police could careless and the administration just cares about if the patients are insured or not. This hospital should be taken over by the state and allowed to heal from these crimes against its community.

this is an unfortunate event. foolish people shouldnt be discussing money or race. i feel becouse it was indeed a phyc ward,they assumed she was just not with it. i promise. they should have checked to see if she was ok. also question the time it was. the waiting room was empty. its a shame. if a person wants to stay healthy they must try to eat better for clearer thinking. apples cucumbers chicken. when a person has a clear mind they think clearer.

I live in the UK with free healthcare and crap but its no different. a kid in a hospital who was like 3 died of burns in the waiting room because the doctors thought the burns werent that serious. Its not just the healthcare issues its employee issues a case of serious human error.

This is so terrible, I work at an urgent care clinic and we always make sure to check on our patients in the lobby and if someone is in urgent care...shortness of breath, bleeding, high blood pressure, anything urgently urgent, we get them back there immediately! That is terrible!

This is nothing more than typical treatment of people with mental healh problems in this country. If you have any kind of such problems, you are quite often treated like trash, genuine physical problems are ignored, belittled, not treated. Of course so many pysch drugs cause such horrendous physical (and mental) damage to people, even death, that it wouldnt surprise me if thats part of what killed her. "shocked"? Yes they are shocked it was caught on video and wasn't erased.

I know, I used to live in the US for 5 years and payed a huge amount just to be insured in California. I heared so many storys from fellow students which have had enormous problems when they had to see the doctor. Here in Switzerland you can choose your own insurance and no matter what insurance you have everybody is treated the same way, no matter if you're rich or not! I have never seen a person that could not afford insurance here.

I agree with you that this is absolutely sick and shocking. I can tell you though why people don't help when they see someone getting beaten up. I live in London where there have been many cases where someone attempting to help someone being beaten/ mugged, have been shot or stabbed to death, MANY cases. There is no point in giving your life up to help a stranger. The best thing you can do is steer clear and call the police. But it is tragic and sad that we have to think like this.

I live in Brooklyn. It's just terrible, I remember when this happened because this is when my grandpa was going to go there for surgery. This is one of the hospitals I would never want to go to. The other is Coney Island hospital, which is right by my house.

christ. i had a huge gash in my elbow from going through a window. bleeding everywhere, the muscle and everything was hanging out and it took atleast 2 hours to call me back. and you know whats funny? the quack doctor had ordered the nurse to just staple up my arm. and he walked away. now i suffer from a huge scar because the doctor didnt want to put STITCHES in like he was supposed to. staples are apparently only for abdominal and the head. the bastards just want their money.

This hospital once had a great reputation and has slow gone to the shits in the last few years. The construction site at Kings county hospital is a perfect example of how slow this hospital moves. The construction started when I was born in 1985 and still continues to this day. Maimonides Hospital and Coney Island Hospital built new hospitals in less than 2 years. This hospital is a disgrace amoung hospital institutions.

you see you can't just NOT judge people, because sometimes even if you help someone they insult you and/or bitch about stupid petty crap that don't matter and set you up as the bad one, you cannot win

People do not know their ass from their elbow. Unless one is insured, they get very bad medical care. To get decent care, you have to be able to afford it. If you have health insurance, make sure you pay it.

it depends on what insurance you have. if you have say, blue cross blue shield or or GHI your treated like a royalty. if you have healthfirst or medicaid, your treated like garbage.
