  • iRacing > rFactor

  • Well actually now GT5 have been a lot improved, it has already i think that more than 2GB of updates, and I think they finally fixed the damage. Also now u can drift pretty good.

But still of course GT5 is not 100% sim as Rfactor and GTR, WTCC......... GT5 still has a lot of arcade, but specially it is because the game is not as boring as a sim and also has so many cars that would be impossible to make it as a true sim with every car performing like the real model....

  • No sim is 100% realistic but GT5 comes nearly as close as anything else, so just because it has game like features, no damage, and inaccurate tire degredation over time, does not mean it isn't a sim. Technically the physics are as good as any of the average sims (LFS, rfactor, GTR), you people just can't get past the game aspects of it, well tough shit

  • GT5 SUCKS

  • This video title just screams, "TROLL BAIT".

  • I own both games and i love both of them.

  • I don't get the comparison, the crashes in each both achieved the same results. Neither are real simulators, you just can't simulate cars and racing 100%. It would make for one boring and frustrating game. All it takes is the slightest tap in the wrong place to break something serious in the suspension... or the radiator, etc. An unlucky competitor would be hitting 'Restart' every couple of minutes, especially those 'tards that like to race against traffic just to get a stiffy from the crashes.

  • Looks like this vid was made by a real pro -_-

  • dumb fuck moron stupid fuck

  • Also GT5 = Console. All PC games are better.

  • Stupid comparison.

  • @baronesbc Wait... You're saying GT5 is EASY?! LOL! Take off your racing softs and turn off all assists. It's a simulator, trust me.

  • @Ah1692 i play Gt5 with manual clutch, all off (also abs at 0) and h shifter (also online) ;)..

it's not easy, but it's not hard like rfactor (in the best miods) or iracing.. one lap on Nordschleife on Gt5, it does not require the commitment that instead rfactor asks.. they are different games..

you? what did you try of rfactor?

  • Comment removed

  • @Ah1692 yes, i know how bad are the racing tires on Gt5, i hate them, become an arcade game, so i don't use them, especially online, i search when possible rooms with confort or sport ;)..

it's just that it's strange to see people talking about GT5 like the king of simulators, better than this and that, and in reality they have never tried any other sim..

  • @baronesbc I was just making sure, rFactor 2's new tire deformation system looks fantastic. GT5 isn't the king, I was just making sure you wasn't calling it a non-simulator.

  • @Ah1692 must understand that there is difference between GT5 and a sim for pc, Gt5 it's a game with a good physics, but too game to be a simulator like iracing, rfactor and similar..

  • @Ah1692 lmao. rfactor will never be better than gt

  • @FanboysAreRetarded i just meant neither the Panoz nor the drivers car looks damaged as well. and in a realistic crash, the Panoz wouldnt look and slide like that when being crashed. about the penalties: thats true. they really should patch that (at least an option for players who want to drive with penalties) but i think the feeling of the car and handling is better than in any game. and NO game ever will be realistic cause if it was it would suck (for most players), no one would buy that ;)

  • @KartFlo95 but you try rfactor? iracing? lfs or another Sim? or only gt5?

i have Gt5, it's a good game, with a childish structure in game, the driving is good and fun, but it's not rFactor, rFactor is another kind of game, more sim, less game.. and your goes for GT5, if it was realistic, it would have sold poorly, in fact, rFactor, iracing and the like, they are only for the fans, because most of player will find them too frustrating.. damage on rfactor watch?v=57PERiAZguY

  • @FanboysAreRetarded Generally speaking I think that PD were talking about consoles only but I don't care because it's just a game.....

  • Isn't GT5 only available for the 'Play'station 3? And rFactor for the PC. The first is a toy the second is a computer which can be whatever you want it to be.

  • if gt5 did realistic damage not many people would by it as a game is more to have fun, not to be stupidly realistic! Like that people from all ages can play the game. Thats how they make money targeting the game to all audiences, not anal people who want damage to be perfect.

  • damage isn't always good because when i race on iracing and some idiot t-bones me in turn one my race is usually over

  • R Factor doesnt appeal to kids like Gran Turismo does.damage is not the central issue, driving mechanics are....FAIL.

  • Last time I checked rFactor isn't available for consoles. This video and arguments are pretty much irrelevant.

  • lol both scenes arent very realistic :D but GT5 is more fun if you can accept that the crashes are...ehm..GT5 style :D but i think damage isnt the most important thing in a race game. hopefully Yamauchi will bring a patch that correct the damage but even if not, GT5 is still a great game and its more realistic than any other game

  • @KartFlo95 People are complaining about it, but they DON'T use heavy damage, especially in online. Last night I was racing with a brand new Subaru in the Ring, and I modified the suspension and BUM! went too fast in a corner, (just 20 Km/h) the front side of the car strike the road, the suspension helps a lot but it wasn't enough and my car went right to the wall... The WHOLE bumper was crashed and the car was unmanageable. It was AWESOME. I will upload the video anytime soon ;)

  • WHAT? GT5 vs GT5? lol

  • @Sammyy46 second game was rfactor... unoob.

  • @MrBanaanipommi I knew that, I was being sarcastic because gt5 IS a realistic simulator.

  • @Sammyy46 both seem realistic enough.

  • @Sammyy46 GT5 is no were near a simulator, Do i detect a fanboy?

  • @IB3MOR3PR0 3rroR did I spot on an PC nerd ???

  • @Sampyla20plus You just started your reply with error.... Who's the PC nerd here?

  • @Sampyla20plus I thought you might understand better if I tried to use some weird texting, my apologies if your brains were too much for that :/

  • isn't forza controls like grand theft auto 4? and gt5 controls like real life?

  • @weterman4320nd where did you get this info bud?

  • @ekemini12435 from watching a forza video it looked like gta 4. and i own gran turismo 5.

  • DRIVING simulator. not CRASHING simulator

  • Guys, shut up about damage. It's not the developers' fault that the damage is shit, it's the car companies not wanting their cars to look unsafe.

  • In real life, people don't DRIVE THE WRONG WAY TRYING TO HIT OTHER RACERS.

  • @mamaweegee123 In real life cars also don't get damaged

  • @wrmusic IRL people also don't smash into walls to see their car get totaled.

  • theres one thing i get nerveous of rfactor there's no drivers hand in the cockpit

  • Great comparison. A console game vs a PC simulator, and the console has a retarded driver. Well done *sarcastic clap*

  • Comment removed

  • That's an extremely unfair comparison!

  • One great simulator, one decent game. I prefer the simulator.

  • live for speed

  • gt5 is a driving Simulator

  • @DiceKid2008 No, it's not. Spend a day at your local track and you'll soon discover GT5 is slippery and fake feeling. It's a realistic arcade game much like Forza, but no where near a simulation like rFactor.

  • @ysflightman GT5 is the best driving sim on console...

  • @ysflightman

Drive a heavy car with a low profile fast on a flat track and your going to slide around a bit. Drive a light fine tuned racecar and the experience is much improved. I have driven an old heavy car at high speed on a flat track in real life and also in the GT games. rFactor is about RACECARS and GT5 is about REAL EVERYDAY CARS THAT PEOPLE OWN. I haven't played rFactor but saying GT5 is fake shows me how little you have played it. Gran Turismo is very realistic. Tanner Foust said so!

  • @ysflightman

By the way I am not Tanner Foust.

  • @ysflightman You must have played Gt5 online, where the physics were compromised inorder to reduce lag(which, I hear was fixed since the 2.0 update)... Because, I've tried all the pc sims, except for Iracing, and spent many a day at my local tracks.. And to say Gt5 is much like Forza and nowhere near a sim like Rfactor is bullshit and ignorant..

  • look. if you want a driving sim, buy one. if you want a fun, GAME. try gt5. no harm in gettin both. they are diffrent . there both cool.

  • @thebismarkandthehood GT5 "the real driving simulator".

  • @QOTSAPT Well GT1 was pretty far away from realism, but no-one complained...

  • @Th3Gamemaster2010 You are right. I dont think GT needed to be realistic in the mid 90's especially for kids like me at the time I was just enjoying the graphics.

  • @QOTSAPT Yeah you know it. Why should it be 100% accurate simulator nowadays? there is not a reason for that. Its a game that brings you almost 100% accurate driving experience.

  • @Th3Gamemaster2010 Its a game and I like it, but their statement is still abit off reality according to my experience, but games have naturally alot of things against how can GT5 be a real driving simulator if you no matter what the size of your TV you dont have a peripheral vision not even with 3 screens other thing is G forces you cant feel that at home that can help feel the cars better.

  • @Th3Gamemaster2010 this comment is about logics, how can something be almost 100% thats impossible you know that 99% its still infinitely away of being 1 or 100% if you multiply a number for 1 youll get the same number you you multiply a number for 0.something the greater the number the further of 100% youll get.

  • @thebismarkandthehood unless you're an idiot, gt5 is a simulator. it's simple, don't use the driving aids, set the damage to heavy, grip to real, and use the sports tires on cars that you would use slicks on in real life. just because it can be accessible for some people, doesn't mean it's a game, the core physics model is simulation just like any other PC sim except better than some. just because it gives the player the option doesn't mean it's not simulation

  • @thnk4urself

if you still think that GT5 is a simulator, do the following:

Select any car, turn all assists off and go on "special stage route 7" (that long straight one) Then, push the gas until you reach about 150 km/h, (looks and feels like 70 in Gt5) hold your speed and start turning your wheel fast from one extreme direction to the other. What happens? NOTHING!!! The car is still as easy to control as a bobby car.......

  • @MrPopular22 I did that in gt5, I spun the car. apparently you're full of shit. I've also been to Lime rock 6 times, and done plenty of autocrossing and karting. Like I said, if you just use the tires in GT5 that the cars come with, it's not gonna be realistic, they purposely gave the tires way too much grip, try doing a lap in the zonda r with sports hard tires, then shut the fuck up when you find how off base you are with your irrelevant comparison.

  • @thnk4urself

Idiot, i did a 7:35 lap after 5 or 6 tries with a Zonda r and hard racing tyres, fanatec porsche gt2 wheel. It is wayyy to easy and the handling is complete off.

You can bring another 20 excuses, but that doesn't change the fact that this GAME has nothing to do with a simulator.

How hard did you try to spin the car? Did you purposely use hard tires? Take any car, medium sports or even comfort tires and do that at 150KMH. Nothing happens. Then go outside and do it again:-)

  • @thnk4urself

Then, go outside, sit in a real car, go on a straight highway and do the same thing again. If you survive, i assure you it will heal your belief that GT5 is a simulation forever and ever. Seriosly man, Gran turismo is a joke. It is harder to get a clear lap with an Audi a4 on the Norschleife in real life than it is with an Pagani Zonda r in Gran turismo.

I tried it with the A4 and almost wrecked my car :-)

  • @MrPopular22 You don't know what you're talking about. First of all, your little "test" doesn't prove shit. No simulator's are 100% realistic, and all of them have a terrible sense of speed. You just can't get the same amount of info, you get a fraction of the amount of detail (visual and auditory) in these sims compared to real life, not to mention the lack of G's. Most sims are actually MORE difficult than real driving, think about what it would be like to drive a real car with a FFB wheel

  • @TheSerenityofChaos

Listen: The sense of speed in RFACTOR or the GTR series is just like it shoud be. This also counts for the physics, which are miles ahead of the so called "real driving simulator". Gran turismo, just like Forza are NOT simulators, no matter how hard you guys try to excuse it. I played these games fo a long time, but after trying Rfactor and than other pc games which are actually worth the term "simulator" they both feel like a bad joke.

  • @MrPopular22 it would be much more difficult than actually being in the car for the same reason that you wouldn't want 100% real physics in a simulator. There has to be something to bridge the gap, and in reality, most sims don't compensate for that added difficulty as well as GT5. Sure, the tire physics aren't perfect, and the steering isn't accurate in every car, but for the most part it's very realistic relatively speaking. You just sound like a butthurt fanboy hating on a great sim so STFU

  • @baronesbc i was just being sarcastic there because I couldn't digest the title of the video while I was medicated. I like to think GT5, if not better, is just as good as any other "simulators" out there and with all the monopoly in technology and all that bull, you can only get so much out of commercially available simulators. I like clean pro racing and I think thats the whole point of 'racing' simulators. also, quite frankly the damage on gt5 does its job well just fuk with the settings haha

  • @YulaTsheringSherpa no, they are different games.. if you want a simulation without compromise, Rfactor, iRacing, Netkar etc. they require a different approach, and the race is not a constant banging, it takes very little to lose control of the car.. GT5 is a good game, but in a different way.. it is more forgiving as model of driving, a good physics, but it is more forgiving on the errors.. and the game structure is a bit simple, no qualifications, no times table, bad AI..

  • If you want damage, play Burnout or NFS, they not only have have beautiful damage but its packed with slow mo and sound effects and glitters.

  • @YulaTsheringSherpa why arcade games? ;) if you want a sim realistic in everything, there are rfactor, gtr2, lfs, iracing, netkar, rbr etc.. the funny thing is that the author of this video have gt5 and rfactor, so he can tell, the criticism come from those who have only GT5 and can't know.. if you are fond of simulations, why not try everything if possible?

  • Sure, the guy in rFactor had a collision that should have smashed the car to bits. Utterly.

If we're talking about mere performance damage that limits the car handling and power, GT5 has that as an 'option' on practice or arcade mode.

  • @Hirotoro4692 This video should answer your supposition (incorrect)..

    /watch?v=57PERiAZguY

  • Okay. For all the GT5 fanboys. Try completing 1 lap on the ring in Nkpro. Cmong guys. GT5 is arcade as shit. It is fun. But for something more real....

    R-factor, LFS, nkpro or Iracing.

  • Ok so gt5 don't do a good job with damage. Gt5 strong point is lateral acceleration and top speed to a great degree. I remember in gt4 I could take a car modify it to the real car specs and the top speed was accurate plus, minus 2mph, but the cars cornered to fast so the cars in gt4 would be faster on a track than the real car. Gt5 corrected that so the cars would perform very close to the real world counter part. I don't see people pointing this out but damage seems to be the focus.

  • @Patrick3450 thats because people (kids who buy the game) are retarded and too focused on crashing just for fun, rather than playing a game that is very realistic in its driving physics. gran turismo is BY FAR the best "driving" simulator. not so much in crashing though.

  • lawl arcade gt5 vs sim rfactor

    gt5 waste of time

  • Comment removed

  • The guy in rFactor has nice arms...

  • Shitty PC game vs Gran Turismo 5?

    wat

  • u have to unlock damage in gt5!!!!! ok im going to stick with forza, its better anyways

  • @rimacho14 No!

  • @Oockeshoek yes!

  • @rimacho14 No! Or yes but it doesn't metter anyways because I'm LvL 34! ;)

  • @rimacho14 lol

  • is it just me or do I have mechanical damage at level 35?

  • *sigh* The level 40 myth was only just that; a myth.

The damage doesn't change at level 40.

  • @URsuckishATlife not right at level 40, but it does get progressively worse...

  • @TheGoodDevil7 nah it stays the same altogether.

  • @URsuckishATlife No, It doesn't, I have GT5 and going from level 30 on A-Spec to 1 on B-spec , there is a huge difference...

  • @TheGoodDevil7 I'm level 38 A spec and level 40 B spec. There's no difference whatsoever.

  • @URsuckishATlife Doubt it, and If you were then ther wouldnt be any difference.

  • @TheGoodDevil7 Exactly, there isn't any difference.

  • @URsuckishATlife There is a diffrerence, between level 1 and 40, huge difference.

  • @TheGoodDevil7 really? Didn't see it.

  • @URsuckishATlife yea man, I remember the first thing i did when i got the game is crash into shit and it didn't leave a mark, but now at level 30 I can see a big change.

  • @MistrzKubica I highly recommend you give it a shot. It's very fun to play, as it is more realistic than GT5. If you find some of the really well made tracks by the community, it really doesn't look too bad. Pretty sure that the 908 HDi FAP by Enduracers looks better in rFactor. ;P I'd gladly play either any day.

  • The second one looks like Minecraft.

  • Damage becomes more severe the farther you get into gt5... Maybe you should play the game a bit more and make a new video?

  • @beeuhlazz No it doesn't, I'm almost level 30 and damage hasn't changed since level 1.

  • @Josh653 no, it really does, im level 31 right now and the damage is much more severe

  • @beeuhlazz Troll harder, bro. Ain't that a coincidence that you're 1 level higher, seems a bit of an odd number to unlock better damage, huh? Keep telling yourself that, because I can tell you for a FACT that damage hasn't changed since I was level 1.

  • @Josh653 actually i really do have this game, and if you friend mattblazz, i can prove it. level 32 a spec, level 30 b spec.

  • r factor is the worse gamei eva placed!

  • @goldsgym1244 played!

  • Hahahaha it's a funny video cus the owner talks about realism and bla bla bla but where's the hands holding the steering wheel in rfactor? hahahahaaha

FAIL!!!!!! Very fail cus the best game is GT5 and the best damages is in RACE DRIVER GRID.

  • @TheSCCP the hands are useless details in a sim, maybe are good in replay.. when I play rFactor, i put the wheel off for a good immersion, so no hands, no wheel.. I have GT5, and so? rFactor is more complete as a simulation, and in a good mod, no comparable.. not a question of damages, but also the physics engine to the impacts and how they affect the race..

    watch?v=57PERiAZguY

  • it looks like the game that has more dramatic crash scenes is the best, why do you guys keep focusing on that, like if the damage defined the entire game, in that case, games like NFS shift and race driver grid are so much better, in shift, the pilot actually screams when he crashes, and the windows brake, the sight goes completely blurred and everything, so its the most realistic game ever.........of course we all know it isn't, but these damage comparisons are just pahethic

  • hey dude, even forza is better than rfactor, and you have to unlock the full damage on gt5 btw

  • @Hackerinni fuck u people and forza

  • HORRIBLE comparison! You are in 3rd person view in GT5 but you are in 1st person view in rfactor. Gt5 does not have any damage on. And why do u need a driving simulator to go backwards and crash into people on purpose? GT5 makers didnt make a "Driving Simulator" For people to go backwards and crash others.

  • @smosherx Since when did you need to go backwards to have a crash?

"Damage isn't important because X or Y isn't a damage simulator" is a great excuse but damage is a big part to a game that is trying to be realistic.

Even the most skilled driver crashes.

  • @URsuckishATlife But HE was going backwards

  • @smosherx My point is meant at the people who defend GT5's damage with "it's not a crash simulator".

  • @URsuckishATlife I can admit it doesnt have the best damage but i REALLY dont care about damage because im dont play to crash. And if i do crash i dont care how the car looks.

  • @smosherx It's not whether or not the car look good but how the car drives after a crash, GT5 is poor in this category.

  • @URsuckishATlife if you actually turn the damage on, it does make a difference. Im done arguing with you though because yes there are super high tech racing simulators that are probably better but im saying how this one in particular was a bad comparison.

  • @smosherx Yeah it does make a difference obviously but it is still poor.

  • we're talking about driving simulators not crash simulators. I don't know about you but i don't think ANYONE intends on crashing if they're driving an actual car.As long as it simulates the driving aspect realistically, i'm happy. If you want to see crashes go youtube crash tests.

  • @Descente36 Since when did you need to go backwards to have a crash?

"Damage isn't important because X or Y isn't a damage simulator" is a great excuse but damage is a big part to a game that is trying to be realistic.

Even the most skilled driver crashes.

  • cough iRacing cough

  • GT5 does not have realistic crashes, yes, but still it is a great game. rFactor does not have good graphics, yes, but you do realise that it came out in 2005. Stop bashing on one another please. Both are great games in their own ways.

  • all this proves is cars are easily bashed around on that simulater game u dont actually see the car getting damaged

  • Go back to teh Drawing Board if you wanna try and BASH GT5, CAUSE U FAILED

  • its a racing simulator, not a crashing simulator. if u want real life crashes give them 15 more years before they release this game!

  • what mod is that in rfactor?

  • The title states real driving simulator, DRIVING SIMULATOR, NOT CRASH SIMULATOR!

  • What a stupid commission, your compare only the damage? LOL

I am a big rFactor fan and GT5 fan, both games are awesome...

GT5 may lack some physic features but it has unique driving physics and characteristics for each car... and plus Nurb track is the most accurate in GT5.

  • fail video

  • i dint get that video x(

  • So, you complain about the damage in GT5 and don't bother showing the damage in Rfactor. Fail

  • WHY WOULD YOU EVEN COMPARE GT5 TO RFACTOR! I HAVE BOTH AND RFACTOR IS HORID FOR GRAPHICS!

  • theres mechanical damage in gt5, after the update 1.03 =P

  • you idiots, you need to unlock the full damage (lv 40), there are mechanical damage AND this is a racing simulator, so the damage is not so important, cuz you are learning to drive, not to crash.

  • rFactor and GT5 are the best and GTR follow the line of those to me. (i know iRacing, LFS, WRC series, etc but those games are behind when we are talking in simulation feelings) ((for LFS fans i have to say that is not bad but these are my impressions as a tester and my own personal only ok?))

Lets hope in the future for GT5 that the PS has more power for PD make other epic game with all things that makes GT5 the real driving simulator for everybody and not only for fans...like me :P

  • @Foxiol I'm not completely agree with you.. Gt5 is a good game for console, but too game to be a simulation.. there're mod on rfactor that are impressive for realism, one is Historic & touring cars, with a right wheel (900 deg, clutch and H-pattern shift), it gives emotions and feelings that GT5 can't give.. but the best is iracing, with a physics very realistic (suspensions and tires exceptional) and fantastic forcefeedbck, there's Netkar, fantastic sim, and lfs is not as bad as you think..

  • rFactor depends on the Mod to feel the differences but in GT5 you have all in one.

Damage depends in the Mod too but i have to say that is better than GT5 in mechanical buy not in damage from modeling of the cars of course but it happens in real time and as in Race Driver Grid (arcade) you can crash and lost the car in one bad accident. (If GT5 has more damage as Race Driver Grid will be amazing) ((but GT5 is not made for crash is made for race)).

Online mode...well PC games are better.

  • @Foxiol grid gets boring , gt5 dosent, and in grid i never finish a race for fun in gt5 i do lol!

  • rFactor is a great simulator (Formula 1 uses the Pro version to test circuits).

The graphics are bad but is really a great game and i have others like GTR 2 and EVO with Race and WTCC and both are good but not as rFactor. I´m new on it cause i have to test it and i have to say that GT5 is really comparable to it for be only for a console. And i have GT5 and now i´m playing more GT5 than rFactor cause graphics and the way that you can reach levels is really good and of course this graphics.

  • RFACTOR wins

  • wow the shake in the grass is pretty realistic in rFactor, but still where is the omparassion

  • this was the first but also LAST time poly disapppinted me. i wont buy another gt game again, ever.

  • I'm too busy winning to notice any damage effects anyway :)

  • Can I total the car with full damage in GT5? just like the upcoming SHIFT 2???

  • gran turismo 5 is the winner obviously :>

  • If you don't know by know, Sony recently said damage is not "unlocked."

The severity of the visual damage depends on the car (standard, premium, racing premium)

  • rFactor is ay better that GT5, they should think about making it for the PS3.

  • cosmetics at level 20...and even more so at level 40+mechanical...sadly i'm only at level 21 :/

  • COMPARISON FAIL.

You have to unlock the full damage in GT5, which by the way, includes mechanical damage.

  • @captainspandex11

That footage was taken from Digital Foundry. Thats the damage at the later levels. There is NO mechanical damage in GT5. They're patching it in on Dec 1st.

  • @1986wumpscut wat level are u,,,,

  • @TheHydrolics24

The GT5 footage was from Digital Foundrys damage test. Not sure what level they were. The footage from rFactor is from a first race from a championship.

  • @1986wumpscut now there is mecanical damage and is quite realistic

  • @captainspandex11 ope, you have to go to arcade mode and active it.

  • @captainspandex11 even more fail....

you have to unlock damage GT5 ? what the f*** ???

oh cmon thats one of the most stupid idea that i ever heart

  • @Xzibitfreek I'm glad you have to unlock it. I wouldn't last long if I had it from the beginning

  • @FellianTheDragon wow unlocking damage..dude how poor does this sound...

"oh f1 2010 has a bad damage model"

"no you just have to unlock it. Just be 10times world champion, then you got the full damage"

    still fails dude

  • @Xzibitfreek This video fails as well. He complains about the damage in GT5. but doesn't show the damage in Rfactor

  • @FellianTheDragon The video shows how in rFactor a incident means race over!

this is damage on rfactor watch?v=57PERiAZguY

but it varies from mod to mod, there are fantastic mods, and mods not good for quality and physics..

but is not the only different with Gt5.. you try a good mod like Historic Gt, then you understand waht is rFactor..

  • @baronesbc If you're doing a 24 hour race, you don't want the race to be over after one mistake
