Cohen schrieb den Song ´87 und gab das Original ´88 aus - Eine beinahe perfekte Vorausschau schon einige Jahre zuvor - wahrscheinlich hat er nur die Daten und Plätze verwechselt. 2 Jahre später wurde die Mauer niedergerissen.

Cohen hat alles 100% neutral ausgedrückt ohne auf irgendwelche Talibaner oder revolutionäre Berliner einzugehen.

I like a lot of Joe Cocker's performances but this cover is total fail. I think REM renders a better version than Leonard Cohen himself; Cohen's own interpretation is very strong; Jennifer Warnes should just shut her vapid hole and resign herself to never being Olivia Newton-John; and any time Joe Cocker feels the urge to cover this song he needs to take a deep breath and do "With A Little Help From My Friends" or "The Letter" instead.
