  • Is the movie as sad and uplifting as the book? I can't believe I never knew this existed. The Little Prince has been one of my favorite books since I was a little kid. It would be wonderful if they made an updated version, but I have a feeling it could never measure up to this.

  • @aurielMoon I'm a criminal; I've seen the movie but never read the book.

  • Michael Weatherly sent me here via Twitter...thank you Michael. :-)

  • this movie chokes me up every-time without fail.

  • That kid can't be real. He must have been grown in a lab specifically to be as adorable as possible.

  • I love Gene Wilder ! <333333333333333

  • @madman1234228 troll

  • I'd forgotton all about this movie. I was a young child last time I saw this

  • Movie is the worst movie of all time.

  • @madman1234228 You just didn't get the point of it!

  • my favorite book in the whole world. I've never seen a movie version, only read the book many times. The whole idea of taming makes me cry ~

  • YO SOYU GAY ME LA COMOOOOO A MORDISCONES MUERANSE

  • you tamed me once and i kept this moment forever

  • the brat is so sweety

  • antoine de saint-exupery>> you/ve made a good book to realize what is really important in life..about this video ~I ♥ the little prince here!

  • First Bob Fosse and now Gene Wilder...i hope this kid will grow up realizing how much talent he got to work with!!

  • AAAHH CUTEST KID EVER. This is pretty much the cutest movie/book ever. And the cutest scene of the cutest movie ever. I squealed and "awww"d so many times while watching this in French class (after reading the book), and this scene in particular. So innocent and adorable, the friendship. The dancing is just so cute.

Of course, you always get the dumb kid in class who has to ruin everything by making inappropriate implications. Completely missing the point and destroying the innocence. Bah. >:(

  • Jang guem

  • Yeah ... I know!!! I'm not crazy haha ... I believed that this film doesn't exist really because i saw when i was a child how 5 or 6 years old ... and this book is my favourite!!! i love my petit prince!!! ... i cried with him ... snif snif but pas grave... Actually, i love him !!! :)

  • Gene Wilder is a great fox, dude. On ne voit bien qu'avec la coeur! L'essentiel est invisible pour les yeux...

  • L'essentiel est invisible pour les yeux...

  • i just watched this movie today march 17, 2011..thanks to my cousin she insisted to watch this and i'm so thankful coz i was given a chance to watch this brillant movie..i felt sad when i googled the casts i think the child(the prince) is the only cast in this movie who's still exisiting..they all gave justice to their character..thanks!

  • @rencomia Gene Wilder is still alive. :)

  • @hjsprez13 yeah..i was wrong..

  • I have most of gene wilders films, his soul is too beautiful not to love

optimistic, loving, caring, just so child like ....his eyes tell it all ironically.

great story and lesson for humanity.

  • Was it just me or was this movie insanely creepy including the rose, snake, and fox scenes?!?

  • @ForeverOurWorld I can see where you going to. I felt it watching this scene now. eew.

  • i dont recall the fox being a man!!! it scary if you think about it! really weird movie, oh sorry musical!!!!

  • I'm fond of this movie because I watched it when I was little after I read the book & it brings sweet childhood memories, but I still prefer the book! I think they always ruin it when they make a movie of a book, the movie can be great and all but a book it's meant to be a book, so you can let your imagination fly! I always imagine things different that how they appear in the movie, I used to get dissapoited as a child!

But still I think they brought some of the magic of the book to the movie!

  • One of the most wonderful messages a book has ever had: the infinite childhood that lives inside of every man amd woman, the childhood we should never lose, if we could see the world with wonderment and magic as a child does, this world would be a much better place to live, Kids can teach you more that you would ever think!!!

It's only with the heart that one can see clearly, what's essential is invisible to the eyes!!

    KEEP THE INNOCENCE!!!

  • Cutest kid ever!!

  • :)

  • Gene WIlder is the only good part of this movie.

    HE'S SO AWESOME

  • I just read the book. It's the most heartwarming book ever.

I wonder if the sheep has eaten the rose yet.

Oh and I never thought that Willy Wonka is the fox. No wonder he frightened those other obnoxious kids.

  • oti einai shmandiko, fainetai mono me ta matia ths psixis

  • the best book...i have read it million times and still love it.!!!!!

  • Can't stop crying.

  • That may have been the best 2 minutes and 33 seconds of my life. And that saying T.T My new life saying from now on.

  • i could listen to that little boys voice all day =] so soothing, clear and beautiful

  • AWWWWWW, the little prince is sooo cute ^^

no words can express how much i luv luv luv this book!

though this is an amazing movie, it would be AWESOME if someone made a little prince film remake like, in this year or something x)

  • Gene Wilder was such a cutie. <3

  • i actually liked that the animals were people

because it's all up to the actor and ur imagination

it's very unique way to go about it

  • If there is a book I could read 1000 times is this, the movie was not bad but I would certainly prefer to have the fox as a fox and not Gene but it was good :)

  • I wish they had used a fox instead, even if hes a good actor.

  • "What's essential is invisible to the eye" - a wonderful quote.

  • I didn't know Gene was in that film. He's a great actor/comedian.

Funny, I recall seeing a trailer for The Little Prince, but it was more recent, like the 90s or late 80s.

  • wow...I was too little to understand this movie when my parents took me to see it...but somehow I remember the faces-nice blast from the past =)

  • the audio and the images are not synch

  • Gene's hair is so sexy O_O

  • @aGlowingTeapot

    O_o

    O_O

    : )

  • @aGlowingTeapot I know, right? So are his dreamy eyes.. and his coy smile and even his long elegant nose. :P

  • The best scene for me!

    I luv the little prince.

  • This scene is wonderfull!! the best for me ...

  • 0:57 is the best part!!!!! hahahahahahahhaahhaahahahahahahha, i have obsessions with gene wilder, he is my best friend, i want to marry him!

  • Really? I have the same sensation! He's a genius and i think he's also the most charming man on earth!

  • haha well thats great, me and my friend watched this movie and just simultaneously started laughing on 0:57, it was hilarious!

  • The BBC opera version is a million times better!

  • You know, the message is good, but my God, this movie makes it so creepy it scares me. It's more like a young child's desparate attempt to maintain his innocence when only one of his friends isn't a prime candidate for an FBI national registry.

  • wow this boy it talent soo young and to know all those words wow...wow

  • Is the movie as good as the book? Will it still make me cry?

  • no. you'll probably have to resist laughing, actually

  • lol

  • The French version is even better, but the American version seems slightly creepy.

  • yeah kinda creepy. dont know why

  • MY Favorite!

  • haw nice....

  • PEDOOOO

  • Gene Wilder is such a great actor!

  • the movie is a tragedy.

  • A very important work..Leave it to the french. Let them be heard!

  • i love it :-)

  • (for english speakers) I re-read the book recently and I just couldn't believe that a book so short could be so great and haertbreaking.

I didn't even know there were films of it O.o and waow. It seems to be adorable and to stick very close to the book lines. I would love to see this film.

But I prefer the fox lines in french ;) ^^

  • This book changed my life in so many ways. Anyone that understands the meaning of this book knows that it is probably the greatest, most meaningful piece of literature ever written in history.

  • u r right!!!

  • i've never seen this movie and i won't ever do it,i'm sorry, i love gene wilder, but it's not a good thing for people who really understood the book, the book was absolutely not written to increase the earnings of those money makers from hollywood. yeah, cause that's what's all about, making money over a wonderful book, taking advantage of the fact the author died, i don't think he would've agreed with all of this

  • Maniquin...sit still for one moment. Everyone has to support themselves and earn there works accomplishments. Why should anyone steal someone else's efforts and be exploited. Producers have the money contacts as studios were investments of others who work in this creative capacity to bring out to the world PRODUCT for SHARE. So many view movies for FREE...they do not get royalties.

    EHEM.

  • I so disagree. Film is a form of literature as well, and can be just as meaningful as the written the word. It too is an art form. While it is mainly used to make money, it can be truly meaningful and inspiring. I think that when you look at it this way, you can really appreciate what it can do for you.

  • Sometimes what is before us just isn't seen from the lense we operate by. What can be done when someone refusing to make a minor adjustment to their viewing scope. Is it a shame to say you can't see? Is it a shame to say you can't understand or is it that you do not want to admit to another what is obvious before all?

There is growth in the public eye, and there are those who prefer the personal walk.

  • gene is a fox :}

  • it is my favorite book, and i share the author's birthday. I never appreciated the movie until recently. this really made me weep....

  • on ne voit bien qu'avec le coeur. L'essentiel est invisible pour les yeux.

this is my favorite book ever^^ i got a tattoo of a rose because of this book. this moive is a great potrayal of the little prince

  • Wow! I never even knew there was a film on this!! I must admit the only reason I ever ehard of the book was because of my obsession with Jimmy Dean!!! (his favourite book) but after reading it, my god, it's hard to believe I'd never heard of it.

  • I've never seen this movie (except for these bits and pieces on youtube) but I love and adore the book.

  • Gene is awesome!

  • genious creations. I must see the whole movie. Absolutely harismatic.

  • Beautifully written, lucid, life altering wisdom. Have you ever seen a wheat-field under a clear blue sky?

  • This movie looks great! I'll have to watch it one day...

But I pictured the little prince to be older though...

  • j'dore le petit prince

  • god gene wilder is amazing. so charismatic and charming. and he truly put his heart and soul into his works. he's very inspiring as an actor and a person.

  • Gene Wilder is such a great actor, he puts so much emotion into things.

I could never love this book more. The plays and movies of course can never stand up to the book.

  • it's david bowie as a child :)

  • he is so creepy .. he should have played in a horror movie ?:O

  • hey, i didnt know there was a movie i only knew the book i have it in spanish 'el princito'

  • Aww. this is my favorite movie

  • this part always makes me cry, movie or book =]

  • THat Willy Wonka guy is freaky in my opinion.

  • But he's not Willy Wonka in this film, is he?

  • who says he is? but he is freaky!

  • no shit sherlock!

  • cute little boy like annie, the orphan!

  • agreed

  • That little boy is so cute!

  • This video explained to me why I feel so sad every time a student leaves my dance studio. I make them all special because I love them and are responsible for them!

  • Exactly! I feel the same way.

  • '...the moment he said that, I understood everything.'

  • Love it....

  • Playes Gene Wilder here the fox??

  • Is this a tear jerker to anyone else?

  • " os homens sempre esquecem disso, mas voce nao deve:

O essencial e invisivel para os olhos... so se ve bem, com o coracao."

and is true! we sometimes forget that, in truth what makes us happy are the little things. our eyes, sometimes deceive us...

  • ...what's essential is invisible to the eye.

  • I love this movie!!!!!!

  • i feel dumb i have NEVER seen this!!look at willy wonka!!!=)

  • why is the fox portrayed as human Gene Wilder?

  • foxes don't speak?

  • -______-"

  • read the book please then maybe you could probably relate :)

  • @ninenine lol!

  • @youchoobplz if you have no imagination youd never understand the film anyways.

  • This was sich a great book ^_^

  • french class with this movie was...

    tres, tres bien!

  • thats my final too!! and we watched this movie in class! My fave song is where did you go little man?? haha

  • why are there subtitles?

  • I always thought the actor they got for the role was a *tad* too young. I always imagined the Prince to be six or seven, not three.

  • haha my french teacher actually made this our final we have 42 questions over the little prince that is it

  • i love this movies! i too enjoyed it in French class yesterday =]

i love the dancing part, i can't find it!

lmao when the fox is in the wheat field. cute. =]

  • I loved watching this in French class

  • He is the second cutest alien of all time, behind Mork from Ork.

  • that lil guy is so small and cute and funny!!!

  • TO MARCO PALLI

    KISS FOREVER...

    MARY

  • i love this movie. so heartwarming and the little prince just kills me when he speaks.

  • If its in English, why is it subtitled??

  • lol

  • because this was originally a book and was meant to be read.

  • That doesnt answer my question. Just because it was a book, why does that mean the subtitles are necessary? Are you sure it isnt for the aid of Americans who cant understand some British accents?

  • ah well maybe.. or maybe for for the hearing impaired .

  • def people? :]

  • maybe it's a french film that's been dubbed. i didnt watch the lips closely enough. no, looked british.

  • i thought it was written by a french man cuz i watched it in french but idk lol i still like it though

  • It is French, but they made an English film version of the book. We are reading it in french class

  • He is a little boy!

  • When you think about dancinfreak's comment just a little bit, it makes him sound like a close minded biggot!

  • Ok then!

  • both comments sound a bit wrong. The intention of this dialogue, as I see it, is how important people or things become to us after we've been with them, regardless of gender or sex or what kind of animal or vegetable you are. After something "tames you", you become unique in the world. That's the point.

  • Aha thts the reason! WINK WINK not!

  • LOL.

  • oops i ment wheatfield********

  • for some reason when the fox is sitting in the cornfield it cracks me up.

  • its true

  • Tear... =..)

  • this movie made me cry....and want the lil kids coat...

  • this is absolutely great,,i Love this book...may i ask??weN was this fiLm first showN??hope i fiNd a copy of this...

ninenine,,thaNk you so much for upLoadiNg it..faNtastic

  • I watched this a long time ago as part of our literature class....we were actually compelled to watch this because we were supposed to make a book report about the book...

  • Hahaha, we watched this in French class one year (after reading the book in its original French, of course) and everyone was dreadfully skeeved out by this scene. And yet I still love it...

  • yes yes, I was looking for the closer and closer part!

  • Do you have "Closer and closer" part? please!!!

  • i love that part too, when the fox and the prince sing and dance... :D
