Catherine Wheel are my fave band of all time, miss them soooo much, wish they had the fame and fortune they so rightly deserved. They influenced so many bands. Saw them live and they sounded as perfect as their albums. Pure talent, never to be repeated. Thanks guys, you really rocked!! Still listen to you often. Namaste! xxx
@jerryfalwellsociety I know! It's crazy, I remember driving into Oxford city centre to get this the day it came out. I only just passed my test but I was legal and had just one thing on my mind, the Wheel!
I think its a testament that they were true artist in the fact that they never were extremely popular. Often times the music looses something and a band compromises their music in order to appeal to a broader audience.
i don't know the intended interpertation of this song but to me when i hear it i think of solitude (per the title) and silence its a bittersweet letting go to me and it makes me remember my past when i didn't speak for two years. this song is simply beautiful
All of you Catherine Wheel and shoegazing fans, hear me! we need to start to share this rare and glorious sound to the rest of the world! seriously, it's a fucking shame that these guys are not as famous as Muse, green day, metallica, iron maiden or AC/DC! so let’s start new shoegazing wave! share and tips this to anyone who like good and loud guitars with awesome lyrics! who is with me? Spread the word!
One of the greatest bands of all time. This band was perfect and solid in every single way. To say that they werent successful is not exactly accurate. This band has been there for millions of people when they are going through the emotional roller coaster called life. They werent a "pop" band. And that is exactly why they continue to be played on my ipod. That they werent the largest band on earth is a testament to how stupid the industry is/was. It certainly wasnt their music. It's flawless :)
So how long are Catherine Wheel going to stay "parked" for anyways? :-P Hope they some day decide it's time to put some new material together, it would mean a lot to the fans. Rob, Neil, Brian, Dave, we miss you!
rob looking quite handsome in this video and not a bad video. The song is great. brings out the emotions. what is he singing in the last chorus in the background?
There was somethin gposted about this a while back on Rob's (no longer there) website. I'm sure I said it for my CW site, i'll have to have a dig around,
Catherine Wheel is another one of those bands that the music industry felt they could never make money off of. Real music lovers know otherwise. Catherine Wheel should have conquered MTV and America. Tragic really. "Heal" is an anthem. Wish I was in the music industry.
How did you find them? I agree with you, but Cathrine Wheel have been around for 20 years so I think they have chosen to be quiet and not take the Pop world or MTV by storm.
Totally agree with you! Remember looking forward to "The New Millenium", when the only thing we worried about was whether the clocks on our computers might do us in?
Beautiful song, great video from one of the most underrated bands out there.
Hey...THANKS for putting this one!!! I've loved this song so much!!! I'm almost cried relistening and watching the best CW video...another fan from italy is screaming....COME BACK CATHERINE WHEEL!!! :(
What do you call that awesome sound at 3:26 to 3:46 that sounds sort of like a distant jet plane? Someone once told me it was a "phase shifter". Whatever it is, this song rocks! And I always feel an urge to close my eyes at that point in the song for some reason. (gotta be careful listening on the car stereo, lol!)
My band played with you in a Houston outdoors plaza downtown at a place you probably wish you were not playing. You played well anyway. I did everything I could to open that show in hopes you saw our set, but it did not happen to my knowledge. You were a big influence, and thank you for the music. This song came after that show, but I would have jumped on stage to sing the harmony with you any day. Please don't stop.
Have been looking for this for sooo long... I heard it only once on the italian MTV many years ago and never again... Today I'm a bit sad and was losing time on Youtube and... I found it. I've a weird feeling right now. Thank you for posting this video.

When they and Catherine Wheel first came out, CW drew me in right away. Never really cared for Radiohead.

I really miss this band.
No one sounds like them..unmistakable sound and voice.
The shoegaze snobs discounted them..but we all knew better.
It's never so black and white when it comes to making music.
This is a great fucking song man, thanks for the upload!
