  • what capo is that ?

  • If you mean what fret, it's on the 2nd one, BUT it's also tuned down a whole step, so it'a actually EADGBE. Neil plays it in normal tune with the capo on the second fret, so it's F#BEAC#F#. I believe.

If you mean what kind of capo, it's the regular type of clamp-on. I have to angle it to keep it out of the way of my fingers

  • what do you have your stand hanging on to to keep it sideways like that?

  • It's on a regular mic stand. The Snowball has a standard threaded hole to fit onto any standard mic stand.

    That's a lot of "stands"

  • Is snowball worth to bye?

    And does it record good`?

  • I haven't had the SnowBall for a few years, but it worked well enough for this. What I didn't like was the delay when trying to overdub a second track, or even monitoring while recording the first track. But that's mostly the computer's doing, from what I've been told. No expert here.

  • yea, I use the blue snowball to record my videos, I have a mac and use garageband on a Mac. I usually upload the garageband file into iTunes and from there into iMovie. I find i get a lot better quality sound that way as opposed to just recording in iMovie. I don't think iMovie knows how to take advantage of the full potential of this mike.

  • Yeah it's purely the computer's fault for this delay you're experiencing. It's actually called "Latency" and depending on your computers sound card, you'll experience different delay in milliseconds. The only way to eliminate it to lower than 11 milliseconds (our ears can't hear any difference beyond this point) is either download and install the latest ASIO drivers (you can google this) or buy a new sound card, though it would have to be one meant specifically for audio recording.

  • its nice to listen to. there is still room fpr improvements...a bit more of inner conviction which transcends the vocals and it would gain a lot. It's not easy. Be confident in yourself and in your powers, don't try to sing "nice". Sing yourself and your feelings which you have in mind singing the lyrics...

  • what chords are you using here?

if you could write them out that would be a big help thanks.

  • this is beautiful. i have the same snowball =]

  • Thanks!

  • oh that's a nice song. i like that kinda stuff. good job buddy. keep it up.

  • can you play pocahantas?

  • Never really tried it, but I'll work on it and see how I sound. Thanks for viewing

  • are you running vista operating system?

  • This was OSX running on a G4 PowerBook. What does that have to do with the price of tea in China?

  • i read that people are having troubles with running this thing with the vista operating system. what is osx

  • Ah...OS X is on a Mac. Never tried the mic on a PC, but maybe it needs updated drivers for Vista?

  • Mine works fine with Vista. I think it has something to do with when they were made. If they were made before '07, then I think they're not compatible. The serial # has to be above 65000, or something of that sort.

  • I would have recorded the guitar then the vocals, still really good though. Really shows the power of the Snowball. Good tone!

  • Yo man, sounds great Rick. We should do this one at the Labor day gig here, what do you think? Hoot

  • Very nice cover. Good job. BTW I'm still searching for "the motel of lost companions, (which) awaits with heated pool and air-conditioned bar". I think it's out west somewhere maybe in Colorado and when I find it, Neil will already be there and I'll sit next ot him on the barstool and we'll talk like old friends and reminisce about the past. He'll tell me about the "Tonights the Night" days and I'll tell him stories of my life. Good Times.

  • Thank you...hopefully we'll all meet up with Neil someday, eh?

  • RRROOOOOOOOOOAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHRRRRRRRRR!!!!!!!!

    i don't play guitar

  • Very nice sir. One of my favorite Neil songs. What kind of mic is that - sounds really nice. :)

  • Thanks! It's a Blue Snowball USB mic. It was one of the early USBs for general purpose recording. It has 3 different settings depending on what you're doing.

  • Excellent, well done.

  • LOve Thrasher. My fav. line of all time is: "when the aimless blade of science slashed the pearly gates", Genius writing by Neil. Fantastic cover of a Great song!!

  • great job- my favourite Neil song!

  • Well done!!

  • really, really good Rick... very enjoyable btw..didn't get your message about guitar

  • Thank you so much for performing this and posting.

  • Congrats once again on another sensitive and awesome rendition, rahlgren !

Indeed,you,g6120,secretstrummer,beirouth and some other guys make an amazing virtual Rust Fest on 'you tube' (If only I could sing a decent note I'd definitely join you ...) :(

  • Thanks to my 2 most loyal fans! This guitar's tuned down a whole step because the action is high, so it's in a lower key than it should be; plus I don't have to worry about hitting those high notes that I only seem to find in the shower! Thanks again!

  • Another beautiful gentle rendition. Your vocal has a nice fragility which is what attracts me to Neil's voice, and the guitar playing is spot on. Didn't spot your new tunes 'cos you don't add 'cover' to your tags ...

  • Well its just great to see you playing again man! Cool cover, very impressed. Me too, I'm always waiting for the perfect take but I never seem to be happening so I post what it is...

  • What a tender rendition of a beautiful song. I was spellbound by your performance. Awesome!
