Those who grew up with Ernie Anderson as Ghoulardi in Cleveland will always love him. As for a foul mouth, well the pressure of putting words into tight little spots would be hard for any guy with a high-octane personality.
He was very talented and we as kids sensed that in the early 1960's.
ernie anderson was an announcer for ABC during the 1990's AMERICAS FUNNIEST HOME VIDEOS and how come NONE of the comments mention how much of a foul mouth he has??? there is outtakes of him going crazy, swearing, and-just like with other announcers, if the copy wrighter WRITES it wrong, and the announcer, like ernie, catches it, notices it, they go crazy "WHO WROTE THIS?", like Casey Kasam? 1:44 sounds like Frank Zappa.
opps! I didn't read far enough. Ernie Anderson and Don LaFontaine, both legends who's movie trailers will out them for many years to come ...RIP guys!
I have that album that Ernie & Tim made way back when. What a hoot!
Miss those days of Hoolie, Big Chuck, Li'l John, and Ernie. And going across networks to Captain Penny, Barnaby, Gibber, Jim Graner, Harry Jones, Herb Score, Jimmy Dudley. Sigh!
Interesting that he's smoking a cigarette -- not usually recommended for keeping a voice in top quality -- although it may have added to the "horseness" of his voice...
@Muellerdon, many announcers back in the day not only smoked but drank a lot with the thought it helped deepen their voices... probably some truth to it, and sadly more than a few were alcoholics.
Voice of my tv childhood.

At 5:50 that's probably mini Paul Thomas Anderson. His dad's voice ruled the 70's.

Paul Thomas Anderson, director of 'Boogie Nights', 'Magnolia', and 'Punch Drunk Love', is in fact Ernie Anderson's son.

Did Monty Python create this intro lol? Seriously, Ernie Anderson was simply the best!

Nice selection from the Cleveland edition of "PM Magazine." "Evening Magazine" at KPIX in San Francisco had a similar introduction.
