Anything made after that is not legal to own unless you are a class 3 dealer (not easy now), law enforcement or active military (and it's government issue). Mac10s will go for $3-5k :) and they are the cheapest full auto weapons to get nowddays!

@shazdee simple: They make the story really frightful and people think that us citizens just shoot each other for something so small as a look. Not everyone does this. Take for example this border violence in El Paso. One stray bullet from a firefight between Mexican police and crooks flies over and hits a building. OH MY GOD!! THE CARTEL WARS ARE SPILLING OVER!!! RUN!! HIDE THE CHILDREN!!! GOVERNOR PERRY, SECURE THE BORDER!! BUILD A GIANT WALL OR SOMETHING!! <--something like that.

@liber8d83 Yeah I was talking about the handguns on the table. I enquired about importing a semi auto mac back in the 90's when I was in a pistol club. Even before all the mag and calibre restrictions the cops said such a gun would not be in the public interest. I replied I was part of the public and very interested, they were not amused and the answer was still no. How a mac was more dangerous than my Glock with it's 32 round mag is still beyond me.

@tspragg1 No. That is the Writ of Habeas Corpus you are thinking of. The Second Amendment is simply so that people can own firearms for recreational or defensive purposes. This of course does go in line with the Writ but they are separate. No where in the second ammendment does it say that.

Im just saying that the intent of the second amendment is for the purpose of being able to kill people (oppressive government). The amendments of that time were to protect the american people from the oppressiveness of Britain. Freedom of speech, freedom of Religion, right to bear arms ect. The amendments were to protect the new american people, the right to get food was a givin.
