I don't see 40,000 fluent speakers as a reason for celebration. How many Irish children grow up speaking Irish in the home daily? That's how a language stays alive. Poets have very little to do with it.
I lived in Cork for two months and found that the irish are generally resentful to the Irish lang, it having been "forced down our throats" in school" I'm Eng & find this sad!
@72757373 I have made it a goal to aid in this effort. I am Irish American, and i feel it is a duty of mine to aid in the rise of the language. I will return to the land of my ancestors and I will help in the resurgence of the language.

@leftclog51 Yes, those words are Irish. "pusachán" (a whimperer/sulky person);"amadán" (a fool). Ádh mór(good luck)
