Fucking fuck. Every single FUCKING Skillet video I go to -- there is an argument about religion. Well, let me put it simply for you: Skillet is a Christian band, get the fuck over that. And for you christians -- non-christians can listen to this just fine. There is a reason that they never straight out say "God" in there songs. They are meant to be for both people, but they are a christian band. So, both sides get the fuck over it, now.

That's what I like about Skillet. Some (ignorant) people accuse them of being generic, but what I've noticed is, their songs always carry different meanings between its listener groups. Songs aren't just cool guitar riffs, and I'm glad I'm not the only person that sees this :)

The song is neither religous or secular it' both... the songs meaning is pretty ambigous as it could not only refer to god but someone's loved one... I like that the religous ambigouty... that's why I like them... whilst they are definitly a christian band they don't shove it down your throat and leave their songs open to interpreation

Songs like this is why I like Skillet and the other Christian heavy metal bands.  While praise music is important, these songs help us to remember when facing issues like falling away, we're not the only ones to have faced it. Case in point, Mother Teressa said once something to the effect that she struggled every day of her ministry.
