  • lol never a short answer from an actor :-)

  • Just can't believe this is how he really sounds...Always thought he was from America, Maggie is also British.

  • british*

  • Now that I think about it.. he does look kinda britist. o.0

  • Its actually not too difficult for English actors to speak in a Southern Accent. Easier than most Americans can pull off. Most Americans that aren't of the south can't seem to get it right. They always overdue it. The lady, Laura Cohen that plays Maggie, is also English as well.

  • He looks like Viggo Mortinson

  • Mind blown.

  • Can you believe this actor? He thinks he's so cool that he has to act british! lol jk

  • @pradaformeonly; please don't make it teams. Leave that for the twilight folk

  • No estiendo nada de lo que dice!! alguien lo puede traduciir.. plisss

  • DAMN, He is just like dr.house! both british, but both can pull of a great american accent

  • When I came here I knew I was going to read comments on his British accent. lol By the way, I wish I could put on an American accent as good as his on the show. As much as I like my British accent, I'd love to be able to speak in a proper, convincing American accent as well.

  • I love it!

  • i also had no clue he was british. his accent is stellar! he nails it.

  • Can't really realize how great of an actor he is until you see him off the set...He's able to hide his accent AMAZINGLY well...

  • His american accent in the walking dead is extremely good, Never knew that he where brittish..

  • Nope he's English! WOOPWOOP! There's loads of leading English acting roles in American dramas and stuff :P

  • "Sophia!!!"

  • He's from the UK????!! My world is collapsing...I thought he was from the States. Great accent on the show!

  • Who da hell is dat woman behind him?

  • He's from the Uk?

  • He got me just like Hugh Laurie, what a shock to find out they're english.

  • His hick accent isn't Southern. He sounds like a generic cowboy from Texas. Georgian accents are varied and different. Shame comes closest but everyone else? Yeeesh

  • I swear he fooled me with that souther accent he uses in the show. either way, his native British accent and his souther accent for the show is just DAMN SEXY! :)

  • My god....he sounds sexier in his native tongue. Team Rick!

  • Southern accent: I will protect you at all costs.

English accent: I will protect you at all costs, as soon as I park my car in the GAYrage.

  • der der der derrrrr der der derrrrrr der der der, der der (teachers theme tune)

  • First Lee Adama, and now Rick, fraking brits.

  • lawd! he totally fooled me with his awesome acting and his country voice.

You know what, either an english accent or a country accent, I find him rather handsome in both :)

  • He sounds like a pussy with that accent lol.

  • I just knew he would have an English accent. I just knew it! Seeing the show for both seasons this past week, I just knew it. He just act really perfect on the show but there's a thing that really made me think it wasn't real.

  • He is well known in the UK he has done a great deal of TV here...we find it funny hearing him put that accent on. Nice to see him get a gig on a big US show he probably got it as they saw his work here which is well received.

  • jesus christ! so hard to register this face with that voice. it almost seems like his actions in real life would be the direct opposite than that of his character. seems like the character he plays fits his face more. the strong facial features. it almost seems like hes acting here, sadly he is not. damn good actor though just a bit of a mind fuck. i guess il just have to take comfort in hoping he has an identical twin who really is.... RICK GRIMES!

  • more manly in the walking dead

  • it's wierd how his real voice is British and he can do a southern american accent

  • Goddamn these upstart Brits. They're the fucking Mexicans of the acting world. I've got no problem with them doing a regular American accent but seeing SO MANY of them fill the roles of southerners is downright annoying. Everyone on True Blood sounds freaking retarded. Andrew Lincoln is at least believable and not overdone like so many others. I thought he was southern when I first watched TWD. Still don't like that they take work from hard working uhmurrican actors. THEY TOOK OUR JOBS!!!!

  • @Submariner21 did you ever think of the possibility that they just might do it better than your "hard working uhmuricans"?

  • @kostaki112 Hah! that ending statement is just meant to be amusing. I won't deny there are a lot of American actors who don't deserve the success they enjoy. I think that there are many British actors who do very well filling American roles. Christian Bale and Heath Ledger were phenomenal in the Dark Knight. But no I don't think many of them do well with more complex American accents. You don't see many Americans filling British roles so why should so many Brits fill American ones?

  • @Submariner21 Because it's make up time for all those British villians from the 1980's. Alan Rickman in "Die Hard", David Warner in "Tron", "Terrance Stamp in "Superman II", etc.

  • @Submariner21 And you lot take other people's oil, so what Mr Angry man?

  • @1:25 get back in the kitchen

  • what's the difference between a sheriff and a Cop ?

  • @elasolezito Sheriff is voted in by a community. Police officer is applied for by the individual through the government and is posted somewhere. There is no voting in of a police officer versus a sheriff.

  • @EvilKiwiFruits thanks !

  • I want him really bad.

  • is he english wow

  • Wow, as a Southerner who is almost always annoyed by how badly actors screw up our accent, I've always been impressed with what a good job he does with it in Walking Dead, so much so that I assumed he actually was Southern himself. What a surprise to find out he's English! Props to him. :)

  • I feel like he can't finish a sentence.

  • @puravida1024 looool so true

  • te amo <3 Rick Grimes.

  • Woah, I thought he was American!

  • i had no idea he was english?! damn his accent fooled me! im so jealous of people who can do accents- i suck at it!!

  • He is so cute /sigh. Love the show, can't wait for it to return in February.

  • @everdeeny Amen dude

  • Hugh Laurie also had an amazing american accent

  • why are british people so good with American accents

  • Andrew Lincoln is from England, he's a british actor js

  • انتم رائعين ur amizing

  • I see myself in Shane.

  • I really couldn't tell from watching him solely through The Walking Dead that he was English. Perfect American accent.

  • WOW! I just finished watching an episode. Mind f*cked.

  • A fellow Marine from the South once told me that Southern accent is pretty much an English accent with a drunken slur. lol And I must say I am inclined to agree.

  • @odincrow Yeah I think theres a lot of crossover

  • I'm from SC and his accent... truly dead on.

  • british actors play southerners the best. look at vivien leigh. ms. leigh played southern ladies perfectly quite a few times & won two oscars for her deep south characters. michael caine played southern in "hurry sundown". so, there it is...the british have it down when it comes to playing dixie. thanks for this interview. i love the walking dead & andrew lincoln. great show, great actor.

  • when i heard his real accent i flipped shit! lmao

  • hocam bu adam bizim dayı oğlunun tıpkısı çok benziyorlar karizma süper siken kurban olam

  • I shit myself when I heard his accent

  • I find that i like his mannerisms lol

  • I lol at the yanks shocked he's british. I watched him in the TV show "Teachers" years ago as a kid.

  • @kingmobz also This LIfe

  • Hahha everyone who didn't know he's British obviously never watched Love Actually!!!

  • @MissDoonaQueen well, I doubt most people who watch Walking Dead will watch Love Actually haha two totally different genres!

  • @kawaiikaruson

Shows how diverse I am then ^^

  • That accent wasnt supposed to come out of his mouth. Somethings wrong with YouTube.

  • RAW!

  • holy shit. the accent is awesome ;p

  • Everyone who doesn't know he's english: go watch teachers UK, one of the best series ever.

  • WTF

  • Anyone else think he could play a good Abraham Lincoln? The two have very similar facial features. Slap some makeup on him and you've got yourself Honest Abe.

  • It's so weird hearing his real accent.

  • HOLY JDXICEIOCBNDWIBCN BSBDCXDEWU HE'S BRITISHHHHHH, amazing

  • @purplepoptart00 Actually you'd be surprised. For people ACTUALLY from the south, they can tell that he's faking. Shane/Jon Bernthal's accent is a lot more believable. Though for the rest of the country that doesn't come into relations with most southerners, Rick/Andrew Lincoln's accent is very believable.

  • He can do a (southern) American accent. Major props.

  • He's so hot! He makes a very sexy Rick Grimes!

  • @successfull88 you are retarded

  • <3 sigh

  • seriously he could be my daddy, and i could be his hookerrrrrrr love love love

  • Based on what he just said about Rick Grimes character, I can postulate that Rick is an ESTJ.

  • LOL I've never heard him speak out of The Walking Dead until this. I looked him up on imdb.com and the bio said "He was born in London and his mother is South African." I was like WUT.

  • Its an British accent not English.

  • @successfull88 There's no such thing as a British accent: Britain includes Scotland, Northern Ireland, Wales and England. Unless you genuinely believe he's incorporating all four accents into his speech, you're wrong: it's an English accent.

  • Ok thanks for taking your time to reply. I must have an "English" accent too being American..hmmm Canadians must have one also since they to speak "English" wouldn't you say? @Thewouf

  • @successfull88 Sure you speak English, but English comes from England. Ever heard of that country? Like I said a British accent is very vague: a Scot is a Brit, as is a Welshman, and they therefore have British accents too. I know it may be a difficult concept for you to grasp, but England is full of English people, and English people have English accents. End of.

  • @successfull88 You have an american accent but speak the English language. He has an English accent and speaks the english language. Scottish people have scottish accents but speak the English language. Britain isn't a country - it's a group of nations. Understand?

  • @thatkypieguy Britain is actually a province of France (La Bretagne). Great Britain is an island in which three states are located. Those three states are part of the country --> United Kingdom.

  • @shokyu42 I think you'll find that in English the french province of which you speak is known as "Britanny", not Britain

  • @Thewouf And yet calling the whole island "Britain" does not apply either. But yes, you are correct, therefore I stand corrected :)

  • @thatkypieguy That is not completely correct. Theres also a Scots language which is distinct from the English language. You still have to consider that there are dialects which are often viewed as distinct languages but that is just a question of definition.

  • @thatkypieguy

This is news to me. Kind of. Well not really.

  • @Thewouf Is there such a thing as an English accent though? If you think of all the accents in England - Geordie, Yorkshire, Cornish, London etc - they vary wildly

  • @gorrrrrn Well in my opinion people from all these places DO have english accents, just as a Texan has an American accent (albeit a very odd one). It's a good point you're making seeing as an accent is effectively just a way of pronouncing things, and in that respect every country has loads of accents.

  • That BITCH in the background is so impatient -__-

  • 1:24 wrap it up....

  • Andrew Lincoln is awesome!! :)

  • Andrew Lincoln I love u!!~ x))

  • He's so hot ;)

  • Brits do American accents much better than the other way around.

  • @Lunarvx22 We get a lot of American TV and films over here and grow up with the accent :)

  • @Lunarvx22 I don't think Americans can do ANY accent, Period. Sorry, but that's the honest truth. Can you imagine any American actor do something similar to what Idris Elba or Dominic West did inThe Wire. Or Andrew Lincoln in The Walking Dead. You think doing the southern accent is difficult? Try what Idris Elba did... Goddamn that was sick skills.

  • @henselot Tell that to Meryl Streep.

  • @henselot Or tell it to Robert Downey, Jr., who did a spot-on Australian accent in Natural Born Killers and who won the Academy Award for his portrayal of Charlie Chaplin.

  • @Lunarvx22 In season 2 of The Wire, Dominic West did a "American doing Received Pronunciation/Brit Accent." That's the kind acting that you'd want to stand up and applaud.... BTW, if you didn't already know, Dominic West is an Englishman who played a Baltimore cop with (spot on) Baltimore accent). Heck, even Aussies and Kiwis do accents well. Its the Americans who can't. or maybe I don't know enough...

  • hes a sick actor. and Not ONCE has his accent slipped.. not even a bit, and not only is he putting on a North American accent, its a southern accent. lol, not easy.

  • I prefer his American accent. He sounds like a big softy wthout it. I'm English btw.

  • Its fantastic hearing him talk with his English accent.

  • Yowza.

  • Just found out he's english...mind blown.

  • Im watching the new episode RIGHT NOW he is soooooooo good looking

  • @icewomen881 where?

  • @kirkmeister555 what do you mean??????:)

  • @kirkmeister555 okay lol! But yeah good sites to watch it is walmart .com,it does cost money there though. and then every Sunday night they have a new episode on AMC:) im glad you found a site but those are the other ways...I guess:)

  • @icewomen881 i meant where were u watching it, but dw I found a good site.

  • The walking dead is a fantastic series! Well done andrew!!

  • Wow!! I didn't know he was British!

  • CHRIST HE'S PERFECT

  • That's sooooo cool I never knew he was British! Plus he does a perfect southern accent! He's amazing!!!

  • Great to see Andrew doing well in america. He is a fantastic actor who cares about his proffesion. Check out Love Actually Juliette and Mark scene on youtube to see just how good he is not a lot of words buy perfect acting.

  • @riboharibo *but not buy lol

  • No wonder he reminds me of Jude Law haha!

  • As a Brit and having seen Andrew Lincoln on TV shows such as This Life and Teachers (which is brilliant), it's kind of the other way around - he sounds weird with an American accent. I lived in NC for 2 years and I couldn't even begin to do the accent (which to this day is my favourite American accent). His English accent is starting to sound a little American...

  • Holy Shit he's British

  • @xzdropdeadxz Correction, English.

  • did not believe he was British until I saw this. Someone told me he was and I was like nawww man, not Andrew, but damn, his accent is so good. 0-o

  • I wish he had a deep cockney accent lol

  • I was wondering how well he did the southern american accent. Usually only the people from the place the accent is from can tell if an accent is truly good or not. Like when say americans try to do english accents. I can really tell if they are good or not. So do you americans think hes good then?

  • @Pr0ject2

As a southern Girl. Born and raised in North Carolina. His accent as a resident of Georgia is nearly flawless. And I can appreciate that he didn't make the same mistake most English, Irish and Scottish actors make and make the accent far too pronounced almost cartoon like. For some reason I think actors only focus on stereotypes when forming their voices, all southern people do not sound like ignorant and slow morons. Example Any American part Ewen McGregor ever played. Fail.

  • @tankgirl787 Completely agree with you! I hate when people use stereotypes to form their accents in films. It sounds so fake, like the posh or cockney Englishman. People seem to lay the accent on really thick and as you say, it sounds cartoon like. I didn't even know Andrew Lincoln was English untill recently as i thought he was american! What do you think about the character "Morgan" from the first episode and his accent? He's another Englishman from London. I thought he did really well.

  • @Pr0ject2

Lennie James I knew was an English actor.

His accent is passable, however I find it is a more generic accent being kind of a mash up of a Charleston, South Carolina accent and maybe a little bit of Georgia. Some of his words were just a little too high on some of the syllables to really be accepted, the only people who wouldn't like it are those of us who care to study these things closely enough.

  • @tankgirl787 Yeah i didn't think he was as good as Lincoln but as you say, he was passable. I can't wait till his character comes back!

  • @Pr0ject2 Yes, it's pretty much perfect.

  • It's so weird hearing him with a english accent.

  • very very good southern accent!

  • i dont care if he is 38.......he is frickin' HOT!! <3

  • @glee12349 Word. Like a fine wine this one. :D

  • Is it me or does he have some facial features that reminds you of Abe Lincoln?

  • that bitch in the background needs to fuck off... they'll wrap it up when they are done... ha

  • I'm British and i also had no idea he is British when i watch the first season.Very good actor this guy

  • I just watched the first season and had no friggin clue that this dude was British. Well done sir.

  • Beautiful man!

  • if all i heard was the voice, i would NOT have assumed it was the same guy who plays Rick Grimes. That's the main reason why i came here, just to hear what his real British accent sounds like.

  • @tj526 *English accent

  • @SpaceMarineUltra he isn't wrong in saying british accent. england is in britain.

  • @bersabelle I don't think he was trying to say England is not in Britain, i think he was saying there is no such thing as a 'British accent'. There are English, Scottish, Welsh, Irish accents ect. but no such thing as a 'British accent'.

  • @Assasinsweed there are english, scottish, welsh and irish accents, and they can all be described as british accents since the word british is used to describe things that come from great britian. just like all american accents can be called american accents, but if you want to specify which kind of american accent, such as southern, new york, etc., you can. british is just a broad term.

  • @bersabelle I know what you mean but I doubt many people would call an Irish accent British or a Scottish accent British; It is is usually only the English accent that is called a British accent.

  • @bersabelle Yes, I know that, I'm English and I was trying to correct him because many Americans think that England and Britain is the same thing. This is where the term British accent" has stemmed from. We English people don't consider our accents to be ''British''. Americans don't refer to Welsh and Scottish accents as "British accents" do they ?

  • @tj526 Me too.

Came here after hearing Sendhil Ramamurthy's and Masi Oka's real voices.

  • AHHH! I LOVE THE WALKING DEAD. ITS SO AMAZING!

  • EXTREME RELIGION WALLINGTON LIBRARY SHOTFIELD QC PASTOR TYPHOON WARSAW BIRTH CERTIFICATE PASSPORT NOEL EDMONDS EDDIE MURPHY

  • Omg his accent is friggen AMAZING xD I love him! xD

  • he is... so sexy.

  • his accent is beautiful.

  • @dinosaursandspace I concur. His accent is beautiful to hear and his enunciating is exquisite too.

  • Until watching this I didn't know he was English

  • Is he related to Abraham Lincoln, like Tom Hanks?
