  • Cant wait to use my own one of these, needs to get warmer first though lol

  • Enographer you aren't going to be beating your chest in a hurry are you considering your sailing a 12' windsurfer with sides on it. Does the remote control take many batteries?

  • No remote control here. Like i said, you SHOULD be able to out run mew, but so far the guy still hasn't. .

  • It's exhilarating feeling harnessing the power of the wind! Great video. I saw this video in church during a sermon on the Holy Spirit. The Spirit in Greek is pneuma, meaning wind or breath of God. In your faith, you can either ROW HARD (work in your own strength) or SAIL ON THE WIND OF THE SPIRIT (trusting in the Lord for everything you need). Great video!

  • Nice video.

    How many Raves were built?

  • Not many - my understanding is under 100.

  • The RAVE looks like a lot of fun. It is nice to see a high performance wind-powered machine.

Great video, but the music track is dreadful.

  • this looks like so much fun. i wish i had a sailboat that could perform like that

  • Guy brought one to our lake several times last yr. I sail MXRay, and some thinkits too tedious to rig, but it always took him over an hour. Broadreaching, outran him sevrl times,. I shouldn't have been able to even keep up, , but he constantly had problems with one area or another not planing up properly.

I concluded you need a lot of experience with planing (he didn't) to get most out of that boat. Its way differnt than displacement sailing.

  • You'd never beat me broadreaching in any displacement sailboat. :) Sure - like any boat, they need some experience to handle properly. Once you do.....

  • "You'd never beat me broadreaching in any displacement sailboat"

i would hope so. Otherwsise it would mean your sailing was pathetic.

I said it was an MXRay . I was planing, not displacement sailing.

I also said I shouldn't have been able to outrun him.

But go ahead and thump your chest, if it makes you feel like a big man.

  • it looks like alot of fun it's too bad i don't live near the ocean

  • Have these boats been raced yet in its own class? Any PY rating? The Foiler Moths are also hydrofoils though just a monohull and these are being raced already.

  • Not enough of them around to race classes - at least not enough here in my part of the USA. Would be interesting since foiling vs non-foiling speeds are drastically different.

  • great fun until...you pitchpole and the shroud acts like cheese string on your face

  • Never pitch-poled... but the way the cockpit is designed, you would not fly out as you are held firmly in your seat by the design of the boat. Wish I could say it's my excellent piloting skills... but I have come close before - mostly just luck.

  • Well that sounds nice! Then you are upside down, held firmly in your seat.

  • More sail area than the trifoiler with the spin and jib? How high into the wind can they point and still hydrofoil?

  • sweet rides, thats quick!

  • Agreed these boats get up and go.... They defintely leave a smile on your face for several days after a sail.

They are actually a very strong and well made product too(designed by Dr. Sam Bradfield, who was involved in the design of many of the large ocean going hyrdofoil multi's) Although not designed for it, at least one has made several offshore passages. It helps to be slightly deranged to consider this ;)

  • Fantastic video Huckaby. From owning one of these I know it is quite a thrill doing 20 to 30 knots sailing.
