True, you are correct, sir. But I personally like the styling on the EK/EJ's... Mine is pretty much stripped out, I will be removing the carpets, backseat, and sound insulation come spring and putting racing seats in as well
And I have to agree with you sir ;) I sold my precious EE9 (original EE) and got me a brand spanking new EK4 which is receiving only OEM EK9 stuff....just allot more oppertunities which are more affordable than an EE..
You want a track-car feeling: get an EE9.
You want styling and sporty handling: EK/EJ is the name of the game..
@Lauz84 I have coupe with KYB struts, Eibach springs and type r sway bars( not installed yet, I am waiting until spring to do a rear disc swap), right now it has a 98 CTR motor, 99-00 Si gauge cluster and an EK4 steering wheel( eBay find for 99 cents and it is original)
Toyota do use a type of vvt but it isn't as effective and runs a differant way to hondas. Wer hondas VTEC runs from the lobes on the cams Toyotas vvti works off the cam pulley..
on my p28 ecu the chip makes my vtec kick in at 6200rpm. i find it quite annoying when im trying to pass traffic picking up from 70mph, downshifting into 4th. i got an LS/vtec with a B16 tranny. gears identical to this video.
yea i agree it is but i hate when people pride tham selfs on feats not that hard to do i.e the honda that smoked the mustang on all motor thats an acomplishment not doing abuck ten in a coupe. 120-125 thats work from a 1.6
Standard b16b redline is 8200rpm, the car in this video has had it raised. It's pointless though really because the power drops off around 8500rpm. Spose it makes it easier to stay in vtec though.
a b16a/a2 redliens a 8200rpm but when you change gear rpm's drop to 6000rpms and they really start to pull at 7000rms,the advantage of type r is it redlines around 9400rpms, when you change gear it dropes to around 7200rpm and engine is allways pulling in vtec,
He changes into 5th gear too early and drops out of the vtec. Shows how finely geared those cars are. Nice vid

I like the EK's the best because they aren't large and luxurious like the new ones are. They are more raw and closer to a race car than the new ones
miatageekscott 2 years ago 25
If you want raw and close to a race-car, drive an EE9/EF9....compared to those, EK's are f*cking limousines XD

c20letvtec 2 years ago
If your refering to toyota's VVTLi on the recent celicas and the old ae101 and ae111 levins with the 20 valves, they work the same wat as VTEC.
VVTi is just ignition and camshaft timing, which is present in nearly all engines made today. iVTEC is VTEC with ignition and cam timing..

It Stands for: Variable valve Timing & lift Electronic Control
