So basically, Special Effects you can get online? I used SPALT, Manic Panic, and N Rage, but none of them last a long time. I want something that lasts for at least 3 weeks, but now I'm afraid that if i get hired for a job, they'll make me take it out. If you look at my profile picture, my pink sorta seeps under my bangs, but people throw hissy fits. Your lucky, I wish I could have more pink in my hair. >: Your hair looks so healthy! @OGApril is your hair bleached? you need it almost white if you want the pink to show up right.

I don't know how long your hair is or what shade pink you want. I would take a bowl and put maybe 3 tsps conditioner and half or a quarter tsp pink dye. start with a little bit of dye and slowly add more until you get the color you want your hair to be. I would put it in and then wrap a bag around your head and go to sleep. Wash it out in the morning. Its best to leave it for 6-12 hours.

@teafaw the atomic pink dye lasts for months. I only redye once every 2 months when I bleach out my roots. It starts out magenta bright pink and then fades eventually to a bubblegum pink.

@blakrose12nicole depends on the color you want. Atomic pink is very concentrated. I only use like i tsp of atomic pink with about a cup or two of conditioner. Just dump a lot of conditioner in a bowl, then add drops of atomic pink and mix. When you get it the color you want your hair to be, you are good.

for cupcake pink, just use it straight. or if you want you can mix atomic and cupcake but its not a huge difference.

@EmoElmox3 if you dont go light enough you risk the pink going a salmon color instead. Use atomic pink, its more forgiving. :)

@HippoKissez It will turn out great! Just dilute it till its slightly darker in the bowl then you want it to be in your hair! I like to do it super dark/hot pink at first cause then it gradually fades to a pretty bubblegum pink!

I love how the atomic and cupcake pink look together. I'm a first time dyer and I bought both of those. Getting my hair bleached tomorrow professionally, and afterward I plan on putting the pink in. I can't believe how little amount of the dye you use like that! How long does it last since you mostly use conditioner? I paid 70 dollars canadian for roots and a cut last time I went. Expensive! but worth it.

Is special effects long-lasting though? I'm getting pink in my hair when I go to my salon this Monday, but I'm tempted to buy a bottle of this and have my salonist add it to my hair. Sooo is it okay to use this on my hair when my pink fades over time? Like, it is ok to just reapply the pink dye over the faded pink hair? And if so, is it ok if they touch my roots a little? My pink will be underneath my hair, so the roots wont show anyway. =/

@HowAboutLauren you wont get any more long lasting then atomic pink! some people go months without having to redye lol. and yep no problem putting pink on top of pink. its a veggie based dye so it has no harmfull chemicals in it. you should tell the hair stylist to leave it in longer then the half hour it says on the bottle. I leave it for like 12 hours. makes it last nice and long :)

And my stylist only put the pink in for 15, but it's still a hot pink. The thing is, she used her own combination of pink dye, so when it fades would it be okay to just go over the old pink with special effects?

@HowAboutLauren also, it wont dye any hair that isnt blonde. I have dark brown underneath and dark brown roots, and when I redye i just slap pink dye all over everything. It will only make the blonde pink. Make sure she bleaches it pretty light though! and show me a picture after, id love to see it!! :)

@JulieAmdi it fades slowly to a pale pink. I dye it around once every month or month and a half, pretty much whenever I feel like it. You need to bleach your hair first, and then get atomic pink or cupcake pink by special effects, any other dye wont work as well.

@sokolum79 I use the conditioner to dilute the dye to make the color lighter. Thats how I achive a bubblegum pink instead of a hot pink.

@RainOnMyParade9351 you need to use special effects dye. It is the best hair dye for 'fun' colors. The dye I use is pretty much permanent. Othen that, wash your hair with cool water.. though with atomic pink you don't even need to do that. Also- you need to bleach your hair first. :)

You may want to try a cleansing conditioner (Wen or Hair One) I use Hair One in jojoba.. I think it smells better than Wen. If my ends feels a little blah then I spray Joico K Pak Reconstruct Protein spray (leave in conditioner)after I wash my hair.  BTW ... love your hair :)
