im confused. they sing songs about God, but mention Allah in others and say they believe in God, but they say "their hearts are very far from Jesus". so, i dont know what they are. but their music is excelent.
As a young guy who rejected Christianity long ago, I have to say that I appreciate Weiss' lyrics in a very non-secular way if that makes sense. Similar to how any person nowadays can take lessons from Greek Mythology. I don't think that Mewithoutyou is a christian band, but similar to bands like Underoath and August Burns Red they consist of band members who do have strong faith in religion. Religious themes aside, the songs that this band writes are beautiful, epic, and insightful.
There are Christian bands, and there are bands of Christians. This is a band that defines themselves through their religion, so I would call them a Christian band, but of course many will call me wrong, as I probably am.
In the end, who cares? It's wonderfully inspired music.
Due to the Christian themes of Aaron Weiss' lyrics, they have been categorized as a Christian band, although in interview, A. Weiss has stated he doesn't think they are a Christian band. Their lyrics reflect a personal relationship with God, and are not evangelistic. Other lyrical themes explored include suffering and self-doubt.
"Ask and it will be given to you, seek and you will find, knock and the door will be opened for you" Mat. 7:7 God is willing to reveal himself to anyone with the desire to ask, seek, and knock. The whole reason Jesus came to earth was to bridge the gap between God and man. He wants us to get to know Him. Later in that chapter in Matthew Jesus asks who of you, if your child asked for a fish would give him a snake? If you ask God for the wisdom to understand Him, why would He deny you?
1.who cares if it is Christian or not?2.Why only listen to Christian bands? There are plenty of good bands out there that aren't Christian. I just don't see how Religion should matter in music. Everyone's so hyped up on this.
3.Mewithoutyou is an awesome band.
and LikesCartoons, a lot of lyrics have things to do with God/Goddess.Mainly about finding Him/Her in your world, and trying to understand them, which is nearly impossible. God is not meant to be understood. <3 Sorry for any offense.
I know one thing, someone who has 666 in their screen name and claims that God is not meant to be understood is like a blind person telling Michelangelo he missed a spot. Besides in the same sentence you say their lyrics are about finding God and trying to understand Him and then say God is impossible to understand. ?? A glass can only spill what it contains, i 'spose:)
haha.. don't pay attention to the 666. I don't even believe in the devil. And you can TRY to find/understand him, but you can't actually understand something so great. If someone says they understand God completely, I'll scoff. But that's just me. :p
Only Christian band I can enjoy. I am a Christian, but I find it sad that I can not really enjoy the music. MewithoutYou is one of my favorite bands by the way.
does anyone know what kind of guitar aaron is playing. it looks like my fender dg-100 NAT. i could be wrong i. i thought i saw playing it other places too
Yes these guys ARE Christian. You must really be new to these guys, because every me without you fan knows they are Christians. Read the lyrics and watch the interviews. You can plainly see they are Christian. Like another poster here sed, read lyrics for catch for us the foxes.
actually, their dad was Jewish, and their mother was Episcopalian, then they converted to Islam and they were raised practicing the Sufi way of life. Aaron and his brother later gave their life to Jesus as they got older. They continue to work with the Simple Way Christian ministry and Another World is Possible with Shane Claiborne.
Me too (about the quote)! I brought the album Brother Sister because I think the music is awesome. Was really happy when I found out they are christians. So it was a win win situation. :D
I don't get it... maybe it'ts because I just simply listen to their music, chords and lyrics, in other words - the whole package - ... And I love them...
BUT where do you see the christian link between their text and lyrics? Because he uses the term 'lord'?... it doesn't convince me... maybe it's because I don't believe in religion... could be.. anyhow MWY is amazing!
Read HM mag. Its a christian hard music mag. It features Christian bands, a couple of bands that arent christians, but meerly christians "in" a band. But in their interviews they clearly point out that they are both christian and play christian music*
*footnote:They played alot of their first shows at churches.
if it helps, cornerstone is a christian rock festival, and mwY was or still might be signed to tooth and nail which is a christian label. im not christian or believe much in religion, but this band is fucking awesome.
