For those who are ignorant and choose to criticize, John and Yoko had won a grammy in 1981 for this album. So most of us still think he's great. Thank you.
@known12 And you make this comment from the background of being ... what exactly? This is a musical legend/genius you're talking about. And what you call "bad edit", is what is also known as ... soul. Back then there were no Protools, no Logic, no Cubase....thank god, I'm tempted to say. I shutter to think what Lennon might've sounded like, had he been alive today, in the hands of modern producers/technology. Lennon was not made for the digital age, thankfully.
@spurv stop being offended on behalf of someone else you didnt even know. its creepy. he isnt your lover or friend. NOBODY is above critism. NOBODY. this is a free country. and believe it or not....people write reviews on movis and music depite not being movie makers/hit song writers etc etc . he oesnt need you to come to his aid like a love struck pit bull.
@glennjridge You're reading something into this, that's just not there. Try not being offended on behalf of someone else. He doen't need you to come to his aid like a love struck pit bull.
@spurv Now just how do you figure John Lennon would have been in the hands of "modern producers/technology"? The Beatles were pioneers in making some of the first music videos there are. And what about the rest of the Beatles? Seems to me they handled "modern technology" with ease. John Lennon was a musical genius as well as the rest of the Beatles.
Re-evaluate yourself and the world you live in today, and think before you proclaim your obviously low knowledged musical history IQ. Just think, The world would be a better place with even one man fighting for peace, alongside the many millions of followers this great man had fighting for the same cause, which he still does today, one being ME.
You know, John was a quick wit for comebacks, and if he heard you proclaim this nonsense and false garbage you put out there, he would have insulted you to the point where you had no comebacks, would make you re-evaluate your thoughts, and would leave you deeply hurt, emotionally, and mentally. John would've counter- arugued your ass so fast your argument compared to his would be the equivilent of a fart in a hurricane.
Double Fantasy was not the best album out there, but can you possibly see why? John had gone into taking care of Sean for the five year abscence from the music scene. He struggled with great personal demons that began to resurface, and some current ones too. He was extremely nervous about re-entering the whole scene; he hadn't done anything in five years! Combine all these factors, and what do you exect. Another "She Loves You"? Those days were gone.
Thank God he got whacked? Am I hearing this right? Do you even know what a brutal slaying John's death was? No, obviously not. People like you don't know what people like him fought for. Sure he had some opinions that were questionable at times, but his overall midset goal WAS to promote peace, love, and the whole great package, man. He was a loving father, husband, nephew, and many more great things. John had one hell of a life, so I suggest you do some research before verbally bashing him.
The brightest light in my life was covered up on December 8th, 1980. But his light still shines on. I went to New York City for John's Birthday with My Rickenbacker guitar like John's, and my battery powered guitar amp, i played for hours with hundreds of beatles fans all around John's Imagine Circle, it blew my mind how universal his music is, and how powerful and vast his message has become. God Bless you John Lennon, If only you and Paul could have had a good cry together.
A fair song on an otherwise self absorbed and mediocre album. Thank good he got wacked and spared us thirty more years of his big mouth. Lennon was the prototypical rich musician benefiting much a system he claimed to hate.
@sfugarino What. Did. You. Just. SAY??????? How could you ever say something like that about John Lennon? He never did ANYTHING to you or affected your life negatively. What do you have against this man? This man who changed the world & music forever. How could you EVER say a thing like......t h a t. How would you feel if someone said they were glad you got "whacked"??? Hmmm?!?!? Please. Think about what you say. Please. That's all I ask.

Cheap Trick was orginally going to do the backing for the album but it was decided that it sounded too much like Cheap Trick with John just fronting the band.
This album...this song marked the starting point of John's new life. He was back and better than ever. He made amends for all his past mistakes and dealt openly with all his demons. One just wonders what John would've done if he had lived to see his 70th birthday....30 years of musical magic, peace, and love to share with the world.

@Chicagokrzy I hear ya man. I'm younger than you. But I won't say how old because then people get mad and tell me to go back to my world of katy perry and obesity.
@jorganbon I think younger people who are fans of The Beatles are respected by older people (at least that is what I have found) because we acknowledge the impact, importance, and amazing talent of them and their music. Don't be afraid to admit that you're a Beatles fan or say what your age is because you are among the few that know what true music is.
@Chicagokrzy Well from what I see, there's a lot of cranky old idiots that want us to leave them alone while they remember when they used to have a full head of hair.
I am 11 and why is it that the only guy(s) i have a cruch on are either dead or are like 5o-60 years older than me?!?!? If you haven't guessed my 4 crushes are on ALL FOUR OF THE BEATLES!!!!! I LOVE John the most though. I JUST got this album like 30 minutes ago! R.I.P. John Lennon and George Harrison, may their music live forever, and long live Paul McCaryney and Ringo Starr!!!!!
@OmgKCool well some people do, my piont in saying that is to tell people there are still kids that like GOOD music out there unlike my friend who is to die for over justina gayber!
I sang this song to a bottle of Jameson last night.
Was the first time I had drank whiskey in ages. It was beautiful.

No one cares if you're 11.
I've liked them since I was 4. ...
And Ringo was like useless, thumbs down this comment if you want...
He was, I don't hate him.. but he wasn't that great of a drummer, nor did he write that many songs...
But whatever, i'm just trying to educate you.
But seriously, I love this song (:
