How does Pat make an ass (that's "an", not "A"; and you don't capitalize the "a")... How does Pat make an ass out of himself by raising a good point? They didn't agree with his point, and they didn't have to, but the whole, "This is beneath you, Pat", poo-pooing attitude shows how the Libs don't want to face the race issue unless it's on their own terms. Blacks are their base, and they own the rights to them, lock, stock and barrel. Theorizing about possible ulterior motives is beneath somebody?
John Lewis was elected by the "People", not Hillary Clinton. If my constituents tell to support a certain candidate, then I would have to honor their wishes.
That's why Americans have lost trust in politicians! They get elected and go out and do whatever they choose, until the next election.
Pat knows, that's why he has that creepy old man laugh at the end of his asinine statements.
I don't think Powell's primary motive was racial. He is above pure identity politics. But it most likely played into his decision. And why not? Is that taboo? Didn't the majority of Evangelicals vote for Huckabee? Didn't the vast majority of mormons side with Romney? Didn't Hillary carry a good chunk of the female vote? There is a certain element of "he's like us" in choosing leaders and that's okay as long as it is not the sole reason. Al Sharpton's black, would Powell vote for him? Um, no...
Your post is illogical. You are equating race with religion, which is ludicrous. A black can be a mormon, if he chooses. A white can not choose to be black. Your last sentence is completely hypothetical. Powell, a life-long Republican and supposed conservative, endorsed an ultra-leftist. Obama IS NOT centrist by any stretch of the imagination. Therefore, either Powell is NOT a Republican/conservative, or he voted based on race.
It pleases me that after all the years Republican McCain fought his own party over conservative issues that a fellow Republican would fight him over presidential issues.
Pat is completely right
