  • LOL love this.

  • What is the machine? Where can I buy it?

  • @revilo314 This machine can't be bought or sold, and there is no coin slot!

  • Bravo !, Now tell us how you REALLY feel : )

  • playing banjo looks super crazy hard

  • @0bdivis0 internet memes are sad philosophical positions.

  • Play more banjo!

  • Amen, Brother.

  • Incredibly clever and great. Two thumbs up.... WAY UP! Looking forward to more.

  • I like the production. IF some don't get the close ups of your face with the faux confused eyebrow raises and banjo "picking",then It just shows that some don't get it, no matter how in your face the humor is... There are 10 kinds of people out there, those who understand binary and... (kinda applies here too)

  • Now do one where you drive that warmongering faux-progressive pipeline-pushing President Obama screaming from the Oval Office!

    Please. I'm asking nicely. ;_;

  • This machine drives neocon jingoistic warmongering theocratic faux-populist anti-intellectual drillaholic social darwinist racist sexist isolationist derivative insecurities tax-cheat C street hardline strip mine teabag confederate flag birthers flat earthers hatespeak cryptofascists and brit hume screaming from the room

  • Where can I find the lyrics to this?

  • Banjo!

  • Jingoistic:(noun) Extreme nationalism characterized especially by a belligerent foreign policy; chauvinistic patriotism.

Glad to have learned a new word just because I watched YouTube.

Also, another word that applies to both the Democrats and Republicans.

  • Very good song, but I have to agree with endergt, I'm not feeling the greenscree either.

  • Everyone who gets the historical reference in the the title and lyrics "This Machine," raise you hands. Very good!

For the rest of you; American folk singer Woody Guthrie (1912-1967) had, "This machine kills fascists" written on his guitar.

    Good stuff!

  • I love this music, I hate how some idiot has to get on EVERY video and say something "witty" about the people who dislike it. It's been done, son.

  • Idaho, Udaho, We all da ho, for Idaho

  • Three neocon jingoistic warmonger krypto-fascists have disliked this video.

  • I don't understand the "poke them in the eye" part. Could you explain it to me please?

  • @500YenDevin The implication is that liberals who speak of "reaching out" to conservatives in the spirit of cooperation do so out of perceived necessity rather than genuine compassion, and actually wish they would just go away and stop ruining everything.

  • @ThomasJAckerman I see. Thanks. And double thanks for replying civilly.

  • This machine pwns n00bs.

  • As a U.U. Woo Woo, I find this is really funny...but I'm laughing at myself :(

  • @ThirteenthMuse -- "Re: the way this one was produced (background, laugh track, etc.) ...it's intentional irony, meant to evoke a certain era of folk-music history in a satirical way... just like the over-the-top lyrics."

Yes -- Hullaballoo meets the Huffington Post (or something like that)

  • I would love to see a live version of this song

  • Re: the way this one was produced (background, laugh track, etc.) ...it's intentional irony, meant to evoke a certain era of folk-music history in a satirical way... just like the over-the-top lyrics.

Though if anyone ~could~ actually drive hate and ignorance to certain doom with a banjo, I'm quite positive it would be Roy Zimmerman...

  • I kind of want to make this the theme song for my radio show. You can figure out why if you see any of my rant videos :P

  • I never thought I would like banjo music...

  • My views are mostly neoconservative, in the original sense used by Irving Kristol, and I quite liked this song.

  • weird editing, fake audience?

  • Love roys face, but too many extreme close ups!!!

  • Amazing! Expect nothing less from rz

  • Brilliant!

Genius in one of it's many forms.

  • So great! Love the reference to Woody' stuff and his famous pic.

  • Roy you need a bumper sticker I once saw in Nashville..."I've got a banjo and I'm not afraid to use it!"

  • After listening to this one a few more times, it's almost enough to make me want to take up the 5-string banjo again.

Well, yeah, I did say ALMOST.

But seriously... this one is very reminiscent of the great stuff you used to write for The Foremen, Roy. With just a touch (*cough*) of irony...

Is it time for a Foremen reunion tour yet? ;)

    Nice one!

  • The way you're able to string together looong lines of words into a list reminds me of George Carlin :)

  • So when are you going to do a song about Progressive socialist liberals? Tree huggers, capitlaist hating, welfare recieveing, give me my entitlement, kill the unborn, save the murder, started this recession, save the whales. That should be enough to get you started.

  • @dynamitemike65 he already did its called "to be a liberal" and just wanted to know your train of logic that leads to progressives starting the recession, just curious.

  • @naliuj I owe everyone an apology to anyone who has read my comments. I want to thank "naliuj" for pointing out that Roy Zimmeran has songs that poke fun at both sides of the political spectrum.

Progressive thought is the redistribution of wealth. It started with the downfall of Fannie and Freddie giving loans to people who couldn't afford them then the govt bailed them out and its all been down hill from there.

  • @dynamitemike65 He does liberal satire for a purpose, not just creating false equivalencies between the left and the right.

  • @dynamitemike65 The troll is strong in this one...

  • this guy cracks me up,wish we had singers like this one here(Chile)but no....we only have extreme left winged folk dudes or regular "thumbs up i love the soil and cows" folk bands. No parody for us...damn

  • That was fun!

  • i didn't know you could play the banjo. WOOT! you should play a eukeleli(sp) and rock something out reggea style.. mayboe something about prop 19

  • Go beyond politics, poverty and war. Learn about The Venus Project.

  • You're a legend, like Tom Lehrer!

  • All kinds of epic! HA!!

  • Tom Lehrer would kiss you for this! And I'll give the banjo an A+. Simply fantastic!

  • Fan-damn-tastic, man!

  • This was absolutely amazing Roy! I've loved your songs ever since I first discovered them and they're all great, but this was the best one in a while! You and Tim Minchin are my favorite satirist song writers in recent times. Keep up the good work!

  • please start attacking the Democrats too!

  • @MetaCraken By using the Rand Paul Supporter Head Stomp, or waterboarding?

  • @billybones69420 by thinking outside the box, man ;)

  • "This machine shuts down the Combine."

    Gordon Freeman's gravity gun?

  • @ShadowPa1adin Its a reference to One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest, not Half-Life. In the book The Combine is all the crap in life that grinds us down and kills our spirit. Long live The Freeman.

  • Do each other.

  • And what is this machine? IT'S GOD, isn't it?

  • @TheCopaceticMan Nah it's a banjo. GOD is only good if you want to solve your problems with genocide.

  • @ratholin You win forever. xD

  • @ratholin

As much as I agree with what you are saying, I still want to know what the hell he is talking about.

  • @TheCopaceticMan well in the old days of activist folk rock it was a common habit to write on your instrument phrases like "this machine kills fascists." it's in reference to the instrument being a voice and a voice being a weapon against political corruption. So when I said it's a banjo I really meant he's referencing his banjo in the same way Woodie Guthrie referenced his guitar as a machine for killing fascists. Dig?

  • @ratholin

I did not know that! You learn something new everyday. Well now I understand! Thanks (yes, I do dig).

  • I really like the inappropriate green screen and canned laughing. Pretty jarring contrast to the angry song.

  • Best song... EVER!!!

  • Nice tip-o-the-hat (er... banjo) to Seeger. Thumbs up!

  • Man, even Woodie Guthrie's could only kill fascists...

/The new video editing is awful in a wonderfully spastic way.

  • Not feeling the green-screening... and unless there's actually a live audience there to applaud, the laughter is just annoying...

    but good song.

  • laughcan ruins good song.

  • Closeups of Roy scare fascists.. and a few liberals.

  • love this, but, canned laughter?

  • Another wonderful number!

  • Tom Morello parody?

  • @Gavrillo Woody Guthrie.

  • ROFL, do each other! :) Hilarious as always, man. Keep 'em coming.

  • Great stuff Roy!

  • You're a great soldier of the "folk song army"!

  • Lol do each other...

  • Don't forget to oil this machine cause we're gonna need it.

Great work as usual, see you this weekend Roy!

  • I'm starting to think that "First comment" idiots have been replaced by professional Thumbs Down clickers.

  • This machine kills fucking fascists.

  • internet hate machine?

  • that Woodie Guthrie reference or a nerdfighter reference which would make it a Guthrie reference.?

  • Lord, Roy, you are gifted! I hope you get whatever degree of popularity you wish; you deserve all you can get.

  • Holy fuck this is amazing! subscribed lol

  • Odd thing that doesn't really have much to do with the video. The first recommendation one the side while watching this video is, for me, a video about advanced colon surgery. Thought that was kinda awkward.

  • @Alphacranberries But appropriate, since that's the place where we'll have to dislodge the f@ckers from, repeatedly, over the next two years.

  • Another brilliant song, Roy!

  • I want that machine. Now. I will pay whatever it takes. Especially because I am currently in Arizona, the home of the most ostentatious neocon, jingoistic, war mongering, xenophobic, cryptofascists of them all, Joe Arpaio.

  • Does this machine also make french fries and cappucino?

Because if so, I'd like one.

  • I need to get one of those machines.

  • Are the log cabin republican republicans homophobic?

  • @jackhuskey nah, they all want to be Lumberjacks! LEAPING from tree to tree!

  • what does it say on the banjo? cant read it all

  • @BlackHatDK It says what Roy says at 0:32

  • I like the song but wish there was a version with out a laugh track. Some laughs were even inserted where there wasn't a joke and take away from the genius that is your art.

  • brilliant!

  • I want that machine...

  • Good song, really moves. But I was waiting to see some kind of mechanism.

Gee, I'm kind of simple I guess.

  • @tenagliac The banjo IS a mechanism. Especially the 5-string banjo. Ask anyone who's (sort of) played it. ;)

  • you sir are made of awesome.

  • That was good!

  • some of the closeups were a little too close, and the greenscreen was a little obvious, I think it was bleeding onto the white shirt. Excellent song though, good facial expressions.

  • lol @ green screen

  • man i love you songs!!!

  • Great camera work for a great song! Am enjoying your "Real America" CD muchly, Roy! I hope all of your YouTube & Facebook subs buy at least one of your CDs. -- especially since it looks like we're gonna need you to write quite a few more tunes leading up to 2012!

  • I gave a thumbs up, but this one really wasn't doing it for me.

On a completely unrelated note: Why can't I have my stars back?! T_T

  • You're crazy! I enjoy this song very much. I'm so glad it's on Youtube now.

  • Muy excellente!

  • Laugh tracks are always lame. Good song, but I HATE laugh tracks. Leave them off your next hit single!

  • Holy Banjo!
