What? I never heard any chinese said Yi Sun Shin was chinese. I'm chinese and I respect him, he was an brave hero who defeated japanese 2 invasion in this 7 years war. When Admiral Yi was shot by sneaky jap rifle he didn't announce his death to protect korea. When ming dynasty general Chen lin found out he cried on his knees beating his own chest. China also carried some of korea financial burden.Korean economy was heavily devastated, many agricultural and arable lands was destroy in this war.
You have bias, not fact. While nobody can dismiss Yi's efforts on sea, it doesn't change the fact that 150,000 Japanese troops had already overran Korea, sent the Korean king running to China begging for help and was there to stay. Yi's efforts, no matter how great, done little to alter the status quo on land. When Ming finally mobilized, Pyeongyang had already fallen. The Ming army not only had to repeal the Japanese, but worked in the condition of absolutely terrible Korean intelligence.
Moreover, the Koreans were unable to provide provisions for the Ming troops entering Korea, thus further worsening a logistical situation that took time to remedy. You are mistaken in thinking the Ming Dynasty was in any real danger. They could have easily lured the Japanese into Manchuria, and oppose them using traditional cavalry tactics which the Japanese had little defense against. In fact, when a Japanese contingent entered Manchuria, the Jurchens easily crushed them.
They did, but Ming didn't do much to change the war, only use substitutes which didn't do anything but wasteless deaths. On the other hand. Chen Lin did something which was help Admiral Yi forces. Overall, Ming didn't do much which is sad.
arrogant chinese imperialists don´t want to believe how great+beautiful korean culture+historical persons like yi sun shin. some chinese people insist yi sun shin was chinsese..hahaha.. stupid chinese imperialists! they are always subordinating korea as a small country which should obey to big country china. they swallowed tibet and then will swallow korea+taiwan in the near future! so don´t support sothat china is getting more power! free tibet+ boycott china!
@etahanihc You idiot, since when did we claim that Yi Sun Shin was Chinese, it's taught here in school that he was Korean, you're not in a better place if you claim Korea is superior above everybody.
Yi Soon Shin in my book is one of the greatest Admirals to ever live.Greetings from Texas.

He has no counterpart. If he did, it would be Admiral Nelson of England. Otherwise, he is head and shoulders above any admiral in history.
