  • Boris,is this possible (fonzie) with heavy weigths??

  • @guima300 Intention matters here. With a barbell in your hands, you can't "do the Fonzie", but the upper arm should externally rotate somewhat engaging the upper back into the movement.

  • Hey boris, this has been very useful for me to see as I am currently doing some therapy to teach my shoulders to externally rotate, utilising the posterior delts and lats effectively.

I was wondering however if you had heard the "elbows out" cue for setting up the pull for the snatch. I see all OL lifters turning their elbows out (internal rotation) strongly for the snatch. This flares the lats for the pull and also helps elbows to get high into a triple extension.

  • @thesku11s

I don't see any need or benefit to cue internal rotation during the first or second pull. Maybe someone else w. more experience in OL will chime in, but that's my opinion.

  • Is it possible to substitute regular squats with OH squats?

  • @elmirg

If you want to get better at regular squats, then you should do regular squats.

  • Thank you everyone!

  • I use the OH squat as a warm-up only and have been doing the low-bar squat. Used the correct form today and it was MUCH easier on the shoulders and hips and going below parallel was much easier. Thanks.

  • Thanks for your Squat Rx series dude, really helps when someone posts all these vids for the all the different types of squat and attention that they deserve.

  • His name is actually "Boris" by the way. I'm glad this new video was posted. Its a reminder to go over the Squat Rx series again for me since my forms fallen apart lately.

Thanks for the videos again Boris! I hope to catch the next SKWAT! shirt sale lol.

  • Johnny is one of the best coaches around. His instructions are very thorough and clear. Check out his blog for even more helpful information.

  • 5*!. :)

  • Through his teaching we are ahead of the game. The only negative is if he could have reduce the echoing; I had to listen several times before capturing the suggestions.

  • @bondog01 Agreed, on all points. This guy is one of the BEST teachers in the business.

  • i wish i could squat so fluidly but my hips suck
