  • These are class ;)

  • Journey South had a busy and successful 2008 which included their 42 date Home tour in the summer and an acoustic tour in the autumn.

  • Probably the best version I've heard is from a very talented guy named Jeffrey Gaines. He's been around for a while but his music is awesome. Unfortunately I don't think you can listen to it on youtube.

  • what series where they in on x-factor

  • they were on in 2005

  • Where Are These Guys Now? =/

  • love this version of the song, these boys are super talented, keep up the good work boys.

  • my wedding song, and now its over! i still love you more than anything in the world amy... ill never forget you, and what a song. x x x

  • Voice trainers know that family voices are the best blend...these brothers can sure sing this in great harmony! I really like their song "Home", too.

  • i was in this video im one of the twins =D

  • This is just beautiful....

  • Don't u think it is weird tht wen Simon Cowell gets the groups he picks one of the best groups the X Factor but wen the others get the groups even louis they don't do well. I no Journey South didn't win but they did very well compared to most. I personally is not too keen on cowell but he knows talent wen he sees it.

  • (my previous comment was in reply to SouthKorea83`s favourite versions !!!!!) :o)

  • Have you listened to Celine Dion on this song?

  • I really like the way they look to each other when they did the harmony...They're couple I guess..

  • They're brothers u fool

  • oooooohhhhh..

  • Just watched this year's X Factor with lots of contestants attempting to sing this song. Not one of them came anywhere near Journey South's version, which is sheer awesomeness!!!!!

  • Nice to hear singers sing from their souls. I will be singing along with you.

  • good but we say them at durham me and me nan they signed loads of young ppls cards but when she asked they said they done ; she wasent happy :-(

  • The first time ever I saw your face I thought the sun rose in your eyes And the moon and stars were the gifts you gave To the dark and endless skies, my love The first time ever I kissed your mouth I felt the earth move in my hands Like a trembling heart of a captive bird That was there at my command, my love And I knew our joy would fill the earth And last till the end of time my love The first time ever I saw your face, your face, Your face, your face, saw your face
  • you need to take a chill pill mo fo

  • Sweet Jeremy Rea Teves,

The first time ever I saw your face

I thought the sun rose in your eyes

And the moon and stars were the gifts you gave

To the dark and the empty skies, my love...

  • This is the best version EVER!

  • dont look at face who's singing listen d lyrics how they deliver the song uncomparable.

  • George Michael's version is as camp as a Christmas tree! Journey South's version is the ULTIMATE!

  • Journey south's version is unbeatable. The guys also have fantastic chatisma. They are the best!

  • different...... not as good as I can imagine David Cooks full version would be if he did this... but good on ya' mates...

  • i luv journey south i luved singing with them on stage it waz amazing

  • When was this? I agree they are a fantastic talent and Britain should be proud!

  • Wow! Where "have you been?" Where are you? This is incredible...beautiful! MORE! viewpoints3

  • Absolutely amazing. Voted for them over and over again to win the Xfactor, was heartbroken when they didn't :( Pure talent

  • QUITE!! I'm SURE it was fixed :( They were just head and shoulders above all the rest, different class :)

  • amazing, always feels as if their singing to you! but why didn't they sing all of verse 3??

  • I've just got back from seeing these live at the marina theater, It was a breath taking experience, truly amazing experience, best experience of my life, Just as good live as they are in the studio, truly amazing!

  • Did you bring back any clips of their performance?

  • Love this song so much

Loved it the first time i ever heard it...

  • Journey South's version is the best ever. They are a unique talent and being brothers just makes it even better!!

  • David Cooke is a great talent, but I have to disagree that his version is better than Journey South's. They have set a precedent in this regard. They are also very photogenic, - no offence to David Cooke- and can sing absolutely any song. These brothers are so talented, they deserve international recognition.

  • ican sing this better.

i will prove it shortly as well.

  • Looking forward to you sending the vid. Better be good or you'll be laughed off youtube!!!!!!!!!!

  • i like your confidence man. good on you.

  • This version is so amazing! I'd never even heard of Journey South, and I'm already in love with them. They did a beautiful job with this. Truly the best since Roberta Flack.

  • perfect

  • The First Time Ever I Saw Your Face" is a 1957 folk song written by Ewan MacColl for his wife Peggy Seeger. Does anyone know who actually recorded it FIRST. Cant find Peggy Seeger singing it here on youtube. Perhaps it was Ewan himself.

  • I hope he doesn't scream this

  • ok! now I can see DC singing it. The others versions weren't him. GO COOKIE you are the best!!!

  • This is a great song for David Cook...I think Simon chose this because leona lewis, the singer he manages, has sung this as well...probably he's out to promote this song : )...

  • Hey 1Texasfan...Texas here too. This is an awesome song and an even more awesome band!! I love it!! Ty for posting!!

  • I think this will be David Cook's best yet. The basic melody is haunting and beautiful - right up David's alley!!! - Simon chose very, very well for him! Can't wait!!!!

  • I'm imagining David Cooks singing this, and I swear, he will MELT me. skjflksdjkfksljflksdf, I feel all fuzzy inside now.

Journey South, I haven't heard of them, but I think they did amazing with this song ^_^.

    DC FTMFW! <3

  • Stereophonics did a good job with it too.

  • their voice is too high, where Cook's is more sultry. Try not faint when Cook sings it on Tuesday. Just remember to vote him into the fnale.

  • Praise Simon! Cookie will own this song!

  • DC will totally win everyone's hearts when he sings this. :D

  • Wow, this is a beautiful version. This is the only one that has allowed me to imagine David singing it. Either like this, or in another way.

    It's going to be breath-taking....

Simon SO has a man-crush on David :P

  • this is it!!! I can hear David singing it now...

  • my girlfirend has this song in her car and it always reminds me of her driving me home

  • This is a beautiful version. I know Cook can do this as well in his own way!

  • damnit!..busted!..i thought i was the first to hear this and think..hey DC could do this...although i still want it a little edgier.

  • I can't wait to see what David Cook will do with this song!!! There are many versions to chose from - or he could end up doing his own!!!! Either way, he'll be amazing, as usual!!

  • This is good. David will do it one better :)

  • This is not a bad choice. Him, guitar, voice. Done.

  • i hope david listens to this version!

  • I hope he brings the sexy back in this one.

  • funny how we're all on youtube trying to figure out what version DC will do. :)

  • This duo is fantastic! Love the sound of their voices blending together, just lovely.

  • They are brothers who were 'discovered' on Britain's X Factor, though much like DC they paid their dues for years working in clubs and the like. Check out their other stuff too, you'll love it. I hope DC starts off doing an acoustic set, then half way through be joined by violins. Can't wait. :)

  • GO DAVID COOK!!!

  • I think that David Cook should sing it like this along with an acoustic guitar. It would be "Hauntingly beautiful" as Maraih Carey would say.

  • These guys sound great! Took an old song and revived it. AMAZING!

  • great version by two very down to earth guys, good luck to them

  • can anyone send me this song in mp3 format please! :)

    xxx

  • Heard it one time and knew this was the first dance song at our wedding. These guys are fantastic.

  • I love this version its the best ever.i cant wait to see the boys at the city hall in newcastle & guess wot! im in the front row guys.LUV YA xxxxxxxxx

  • Good version, but nothing to leona lewis'. theres no comparison between their voices.

  • *wolf whistles* very good boys. love it.

  • nice song!!! First Time Ever I Saw Your Face - Journey South THE BEST!!!!

    is for you deleteyouforever.... Bacio!!!!!

  • i am gong to see journey south with a freind of mine on the 17th may at the newcastle city hall second row front cant wait

  • Good job lads xx

  • These two have just about made this song a classic all for themselves. It is so touching and emotional coming from them and I always thought that Roberta Flack's version could never be equalled...Journey South comes close! I hope that she loves this as much as the majority of us do!!!!!!

  • Gorgeous song, gorgeous lads, great voices swooooon

  • This is actually some great work. Love the soul in this. Soul doesn't really have a color.

  • they sing it betr den leona

  • i agree - i don't really like leona's version of this song; i don't think her voice is suitable for it

  • da is da best

    better than all of you

    you guys cant sing

  • i love them!

we voted them in the final of the x factor, but they didnt win!:(

  • i think the xfactor is cheeeeeese but you cant deny these 2. i love this cover and these are a pair of fittys aswel.

  • The only cover of this song that I can say was thrilling. Great work, gentlemen!

  • im really into heavy rock, but i love these guys, im hoping for them to release an album with all original stuff on theyve wrote n stuff, but ive heard nothing saying there going to

  • They released their latest album in November - it's called Home and only has one cover on it - the rest of the songs are theirs. The single released from the album is 'What I love about Home' and the video is posted here.

  • They have a new album out now .. called 'Home', all original tracks, absolutely fantastic ... this cover is good but not a patch on their own material. Take my word go buy it and see for yourself!

  • Ah. That was perfectly lovely.

  • 5 stars

  • Love the guitar players Awesome voice...they really do this song justice and is the best I've heard since I heard George Michael sing a version of it. And the guitar player is gorgeous which helps!! And those teeth!! Hollywood potential!!

  • Well I think they are bloody fantastic. Loved em on Xfactor and voted for them, saw them at the races recently they're just brill. Come on you lot lets support the excellent local talent.

  • wow this video is filmed in my town

  • quality

  • i love this song but their new song is well better as its their own music xx CUM ON BORO n TEESIDE SUPPORT them.

  • EXCUSE ME Senetto, they may not be the best singers or good enough for you, i dont see you singing and dont! right middlesbrough off im from there, its a good place with nice people

  • i bloody love this song whats wrong with you all i think they did a great job well done jorney south

  • i think i was just sick abit

this is why middlesbrough is the worst place to live in england

    because of journey south

they came home and to our secondry (there old secondry) and when they were on x factor tried to get our votes, now there not on it, they never come

there gay.. and they make crap music.

  • well abviously, if u didn't know that your are so deluded

  • To Senetto..

Your comment sounds as cheap as your username.

I'm not from Middlesborough but i have a bigger enough brain to realise not to swallow some cheap & nasty propaganda information from newspapers you read, Middlesborough is a decent town, every place has Good & Bad points so.

If their music is 'crap music' then why did you waste all your 'precious' effort to post a negative comment on their video link.

  • this is senetto

just its logged in on my friends account n i cba logging out

if you took the time to realise

    im from middlesbrough

    I KNOW WHAT ITS LIKE.

    nub.

  • Senetto should have paid more attention at school. There is a difference between 'they're' and 'their'. For my money the guitarist has a wonderfully gritty voice that could sell a million records in the US alone with the right material.

  • Where in my comment do i assume you're not from Middlesbrough. Anyhoo, its not where you're from i dispute or what you're saying, it's how it's said.

  • whats b n from middlesbrough got to do with these 2, wel you think their gay go an listen to ye own shit if you like these y put them on? efc forever

  • lol you loser they're not gay, ther BROTHERS.

  • ...*typo* I meant 'are not dross' LOL I think they're v.talented. :)

  • I like the dog at 2:04 and the totem pole at 2:44

  • You missed the seagull at 2:22, I don't think it's a totem pole Cherokee, I think it's a May Pole for Morris Dancer folk and such.

  • seagulls are rats with wings...me no like

  • they steal your chips at the seaside..I've started buying a waffle instead.

  • I remember having seafood at the seaside with you my dear....it was the first time, ever I saw your plaice

  • It was indeed...and the moonfish in the jars were the gifts you gave...

  • I gave for the halibut

  • batter my cod

  • smoke my eel

  • I'll wrestle your eel then smoke it

  • is that like flogging my dolphin?

  • Leave that for the hot tub

  • want to feel my jacuzzi jet?

  • does it reach the wild flower bed?

  • no...but I call it Gumby

  • I hope you don't bash it in the container

  • I only bash it on my own

  • It may need feeding

  • I prefer breast over bottle feeding

  • would you require a night feed?

  • Kelly Jones from Sterophonics does a cracking take on this song, I've never been an x Factor fan but these guys caught my attention and I think they nailed this, they didn't win because the aren't not dross and I suppose don't fit into a specific pigeon hole, being brothers etc. Quality all the same.

  • These lads are just amazing - how on EARTH did they not win The X Factor? Now I KNOW it was all fixed, they were in a different class altogether :)

  • i agree, these two were light years in front of everybody else, pure talent. :)

  • There was alot of talent in that year of Xfactor in a lot of genre's. Although Journey south were my personal favorites.

  • Goose Bumps always - the best version....

  • thanks for posting this i'm a massive journey south fan!

    love lisaxxx

  • good ole' newcastle :) brilliant part of newcastle and gateshead.

  • up the boro lads

  • My favourite version of the song!!
