This is an Azerbaijani Turkish song by famous Azerbaijani composer Eldar Mansurov. I first listened to it in early 90s by the Turkmen group Ashkhabad. It is also the best version available. Some years later, Levent Yuksel of Turkey sang it and it was pretty bad. Many singers sang it all over the world after that, including Monica Salmoso of Brasil and Edward Maya of Romania.

It's not a Greek song. This one by Garbi is the second best performance of this song. Greeks are talented musically.

in the beginning, the first instrument is called " kanun " in turkish (azither-like instrument with seventy-two strings), i donna if neighbour (hellas) plays this instrument in their musics. but we play "kanun" in turkish art music. (i think they are also playing some instrument like that.)
