"I can snoop on a neighbor or snitch on a friend"...well clearly this fox is a sociopath, and he really likes to SNIFF things...substance abuse! Oh Tom, what are you teaching these kids? LOL I' m kidding of course.
About three years ago, there was a show about the history of Electric Company on PBS (or at least the local affiliate where I live) and this was one of the featured clips.
WOW!!! This truly brings back the fondest memories of my childhood. I can't say enough good things about this one. Too bad these kids don't have the quality of programming that we had.
Tom Lehrer was a master of lyrical wordplay, and the use of "hankerchiffle" is a classic example. He does this on his more satirical songs, such as rhyming sturgeons ('sturgens') with detergents ('detergens').
This was cool to see this one! The other one I wish I could see is the one where one man is sweeping, and singing "sw" while the lady at the other end is singing "eep", until they meet in the middle and sing "sweep". Anyone remember that one?
Sniff! Lucky me, I was able to sniff this tune too. From today it is included in a play list on the front page of The Tom Lehrer Wisdom Channel. Thank you so VERY much for this posting!
Well, I can leave the logo and risk deletion, or I can cover it, obviously. I don't like the blacked out circle, and enjoy dressing it up a bit. It is a little larger, but more attractive than some of the alternatives.
This is great. Classic Tom Lehrer. I wonder if younger viewers (younger than me, that is) will get the veiled references to cold war totalitarianism and McCarthyism in the lines about snooping on a neighbor and snitching on a friend. I laugh every time I hear it.
Never even thought of the McCarthyism in that. I sure remember hearing this song when I was a kid watching the show. I can pick it up now that you mention it. Tom Lehrer is a genius!
I'm 14 years old and I enjoy this? I must be loosing my mind or something. It's just so catchy.

That fox is a handsome stud! I have crushes on some cartoon characters like the fox version of Robin Hood, Elliot the dragon, and Tumnus the faun;).

Nice. I appreciate you covering the Noggin bug, but a bigger bug is only more noticeable.

This is the version as it aired on episode 110A, which was slightly cut on both ends. The full uncut version can be seen on episode 197.

Those days before everybody was lawsuit crazy.
"Barbie loves Ken"?
Wow, Sesame Street would be sued off the air if they used that today.

They used the word 'Chex' on one animated skit.
