@narutofan3010 this game is run at several US tournies, there are a few US cabinates floating around that were never publically released but were sold to tournament promoters... however on those cabs it says "fist of the north star" instead of teh hokuto no ken kanji... teh biggest differeance in game is that Souther is spelled Souther in the US cab while the Japanese one has it as Thouther.

Wow I had this game and got completely annilated everytime I played it. I thought shin was going to win the tournement but ken destroyed him in the end,which I liked because ken is the pimp with the pimp beatdowns and also the man who can. GOOOOO KEN

You guys want this game ? If you have a strong enough computer with a good graphic card & ram, you could download the atom emulator with the FIST OF THE NORTH STAR ARCADE ROM, like I did. PC gaming is where its at now. Just look up Atom emulator on google search bar and pow!, You got it from there on. Hope this info helped.

When did this game ame out it looks more like Guilty Gear X but a little slower and nie air ombos these fighting type engine require more skill than games like Super Smash Bros or Soul Caliber no button mashing or one button moves there people .

Sadly, no.. If there is one complaint about the game it is that there are only 10 (11?) playable characters, that said - if you're a Hokuto fan and own a PS2, you HAVE to own this game - its is so awesome..

Roah is a beast! I play Rei better tho, I like the fast movement even tho his move's limit him to being an aerial character in which Roah, takes advantage with that kick grab.

It haves the same exact system as GGX2. With Instant kills, burst, power gauge, the whole nine. The made it a bit different tho. Insted of activating your instant kill, you have to destory your enemy's crystals first. You then can perform your instant kill (which CAN be combined into a combo) by consuming one power bar (max of 2). Roman Cancles in this game consume one entire burst bar (max of 3). Movement, buttons, and even DUST is in this game. Like GGx2, but with a 199X twist. THIS GAME ROCKS

Hmm. I believe the game was developed by Arc System Works. This is the same company the created Guilty Gear. Guilty Gear is one of, if not, THE most complex 2D fighters out there. I feel your credibility is extremely lacking.

I have to agree. At least Guilty gear had the decency to warn you about the instant KO when your opponent went into that "kill mode" Anyway,this game and guilty gear are could easily be played by a street fighter fan, but the "good" combos aren't easy to anyone who hasn't practiced.

Oddly was just playing my Guilty Gear XX Reload on Xbox 360 and the online lag is atrocious. Using Venom requires strict timing and i struggle pulling off big combos, Punishing Ky players and avoiding overheads. I mean i still catch wreck but i can't fight Ky the way its supposed to with Venom.

Bro, mostly any fighter and be learned in 5 mins, but as with all to achieve this kind of play lvl takes time and skill. As a player I've seen nothing "user friendly" about this game. Just simply compare it to its cousin GGx2. Both are quick to pick up, but both are extremely technical. And of course you cannot dis mind the fact that this is it's first title and as with most, the next will be better with balances and changes.

Every character has a forward+weak attack that takes a star on counter hit. Then there are specials and supers that take a star. I believe that a Banishing Strike (the moves you see that knock opponents against the wall) also take a star. Specials done in an air combo take a star as well. Also, some moves that take a star normally take an extra star on a counter. You get a star back at the beginning of each round, or if your opponent blows the instant kill.

The instant kills can only be initiated once the opponent has lost all his 7 stars, which are lost in certain circumstances that I don't know the precise details of. So you can't just do one when you feel like it.
