FUN FACT HERE---"The Man from the South" was originally a short story was written by the one and only celebrated children's author Roald Dahl, the man who gave us such masterful work for the wee ones such as "Charlie and the Chocolate
Factory, " "James and the Giant Peach," "The Fantastic Mr. Fox" and "The Witches." And it took place in England, like all of Dahl's stuff.
He was a native Brit. A man who did as much for English literature as Charles Dickens.
Hi and thanks for watching. I love Fun Facts. Come back with more. I have one too: Roald Dahl was married to Patricia Neal, a remarkable woman and fine actress.
@TheWuCepticon81 I do have the full episode and it would not be difficult to upload. However, Youtube will block it if there are copyright issues. We can upload videos if they fall under "fair comment and criticism," which most all do. They are tributes, criticism. The exemption is a four point one.But there is a formal appeal process, not difficult either.I am going to upload all of it because I think it comes under fair comment; Hitchcock was a genius. So many directors today incorporate ..
A remake wsa done of this movie, but in a shorter skit form. I thought it was The Twilight Zone (when the showed enjoyed it's second lifetime in the nineties), but I can find no trace of it.
Greetings! The theme sounds familiar and I think it was a Twilight Zone with Don Gordon in it, something like the life of Salvadore something. He was mad in love with a woman who wouldn't give him the time of day because he was broke. So he kept trading years off his life for an old, but rich, man's money. That's the only TZ that comes to mind, aired in like '63. It is a common enough theme, if I think of any movies I will post.
I think what you have in mind is the episode from Tv Series "Tales of the Unexpected" by Roal Dahl, he wrote the story. Episode is called "The Man from the South" and it's the pilot episode of the TV series. It was remade in the 80's again for Hitchcock Presents.

They also did a bit in homage to it in a movie called Four Rooms with Tarintino.

@erriwan
Thanks for the info! I ended up finding out that it was indeed remade two or three times. I think I saw the 1985 version. Great story.
