  • I try to play this file I put into famitracker but no sound comes out.

  • Thanks you I can pass uni. Thank you so damn much, the savoir of our entire class :D

  • I just noticed... this is danooct!!

  • How I can do in famitracker sawtooth?

  • 1 dislike. Must be a lazy user from GXSCC...

  • nevermind about the note cut

  • wait, so what do you type to put in a note block?

  • @8BitDanooct1 Hey, I have a problem. The notes are out of place. If I press C on my keyboard, but it will PLAY a G or something. Is this normal?

  • @suicidefilming it's not by letter it's by rows

  • This is really useful Dan. But I have a problem. I've been using Famitracker (just messing around with notes, trying to get familiar with this), but for some reason the notes I write won't play back when I click on "play". It's just silent. I was wondering if you know any reason why it may be doing that? I've followed your tutorial to a "T", but... it wont play back the notes on the pattern.

  • o.k. justin beiber, we know your the one who disliked this video...

  • Incredibly helpful tutorial! Thank you very much.

  • Is there a way to create chords without using multiple channels?

  • @BipoleMoment Nope. That's kind of the point of chiptunes, the original sound chips could only handle something like 3 sounds at once, so for chords there'd be a very fast arpeggio, hence the trademark blippy-arpeggios in chiptune music.

  • can i export the song to a format usable by game maker?

  • @Omatusano yeah, famitracker has support for .wav exporting, and you can basically convert that to .mp3 with audacity to save disk space

  • i made i sound slopeing downward for an alarm, but when i play it it doesn't appear. any help?

  • These two videos are a great introduction, thank you for uploading!

  • G-2 00?

    when type "g" appear F#3 00

  • thanks, this really helped!

  • I was thinking of using Famitracker for making music for stuff, like my own games. Would you guys recommend Famitracker for that, or do you think it's a bit primitive for that?

  • I'm a little bit confused on the Square 1, triangle, noise rows. What is their purpose?

  • @jlongenderfer1 they are named after what the sound wave they produce is shaped like.

Squares are usually used for the melody, triangle for bass and noise for drums. However there were many songs written differently in official NES games

  • Nvm, I figured it out. Gotta change the octave :P

  • I pressed every key on my laptop but I'm not getting some notes, how do I fix that?

  • Thank you SO MUCH. I really appreciate it! I'm a professional musician, and a longtime NES fan...FamiTracker is by far the most realistic way to produce authentic-sounding NES music...but it's far from intuitive for somebody who's used to working with conventional sequencing/recording software! Your tutorials are a Godsend. Thanks again!

  • Why is it, that when I press G on my keyboard, it puts in a H?

  • @za909 if you look at the help file it shows you what keys a re mapped to what note. I only found it cuz i was trying to work out to work the crazy program

  • @bubblecube1 Oh since then I've become better at it, check it out if you want.

Now the only thing that's annyoing that on my keyboad z and y are swapped so I always use A-4 when I want to use C-3.

  • Are the instruments in your famitracker files open source? Like are people able to take from them and use in their own songs?

  • This is fun :)

  • How do I make drums?

  • How come whenever I play my song I can't hear anything?

  • @GodOfSubliminal Have you createsd any instruments?

  • omg this is so confusing

  • Since I am using just my ascii keyboard to map my notes, is there a way to set the default octaves lower? For example, the letter Z maps to c note octave 3. I want z to be my lowest c possible. Any help is appreciated. Thanks

  • @wulfsburg65 I only just started using the program, but I was wondering this too, so I did some looking in the help files. To change the octave up or down, press the / and * keys on your num pad.

/ will drop the octave and * will raise it. Hope that helped. :P

  • @wulfsburg65 Highlight the note(s) that you want and press CTRL+F1 to lower by a note CTRL+F2 to raise a note CTRL+F3 to lower an octave CTRL+F4 to raise an octave

  • How to u do put some midi to make sound like 8 bit plz help me

  • @thegoddescomposer This is not like GXSCC, so don't expect using Famitracker to be so easy. Learning to use the program requires dedication and desire to write actual 8-bit music, but the results are far superior over anything a MIDI conversion program could produce.

  • @8BitDanooct1 So basically I cannot just shoot a song in and get a NES song out. >_>

  • @8BitDanooct1 Why does the play button not work

  • thanks!! :) i finally know how to get the tone i wanted!!

  • how dod you make the drum sounds?

  • i love you

  • Thanks for uploading,! I was finding it a little awkward navigating my way around the program until I saw this!

Do you happen to know if Nintendo would have actually programmed the cartridges in a similar fashion to Famitracker? Can't seem to find any information about what sort of equipment they used to program the music/ games!

  • can you download famitracker on linux?

  • @funkygamecritic No, unfortunately it requires quite a few Windows library, and a Linux port would require a complete rewrite of the code.

  • @8BitDanooct1

will it not be happy under WINE?

  • @funkygamecritic However, it is certainly possible to download a free gameboy emulator and run lsdj, which is another tracker.

  • @funkygamecritic Yes. Use Wine.

  • 900BPM=Speedcore lol

  • Oh, never mind my last comment, I looked on Wiki, and found out it was the volume control. ^_^

  • There's something I'm wondering... What do the purple colored numbers and letters do? I see those a lot next to notes. They're in between the note and the effects section. I wanna learn to use 'em, but no where tells me. x_x

  • How do you know how to make quarter notes or whole notes on that program? Though, unfortunately, I'm not a musician.

  • p.s. (note not "not")

  • p.s. (note not "not"

  • If only they had a program like mario paint with real and more instruments, change of style, and change of volume for each not............ I wish someone would make one for me :-(

  • @pacack825

Even if someone would just make a Mario Paint-esque program, with more instruments, it'd make peoples' lives easier. D:

  • @pacack825 There are lots of programs out there that are like that, e.g. Reason, Fruity Loops, etc., but they're rather expensive and incredibly complicated. It would be nice if they had some simpler freeware out there.....

  • These tutorials are great :) I had no idea what I was doing on Famitracker before them

  • can I open midis, and the notes are all set? because i have no knowing of notes and rythm!

  • Hey 8BitDanooct1, how do you make that Megaman sound again?

  • You sir, have won a description for these awesome tutorials!

    8-bit forever!

  • The cut key won't work on my FamiTracker

  • i insert the note but when i press play i cant hear anything

  • Awsome tutorials! Ive always had a pretty good mind for music, but not so much with computers. Therefore, using your tutorials of awesomeness, I've been able to make some pretty good stuff. Now: Is there a way to take a FamiTracker file and convert it to mp3, so i can send my creations to my friends, put them on my iPod, etc? If so, please explain! Thank you.

  • Great tutorials, very easy to understand, thank you!

  • How do I put flats?

  • okay i get it now. it looked alot harder than it is. but i guess its actually super easy.

  • Thank you so very much! I have been writing my own acoustic music, and I've been trying to think about adding something new to my style. This will definetely spice up my music! These tutorials are simply amazing! They're very clear and easy to understand. - Cody

  • Extremely helpful... I'm actually trying to cover metal songs with the Famitracker, so it will probably prove to be a lot more difficult than something already created in chiptunes like a retro videogame track. Happen to know which module the original NES used? Trying to keep it to the 8-bit limit, but i'm not completely sure if I'll be able to... the song i'm attempting is Brother Von Doom - The Ravenous. I'd love to hear a cover of yours so I can hear what it SHOULD sound like :P

  • Not sure what the expansion chip or the ability to switch songs does. So if I have song 1 and song 2, will that overlap them when I play it? Or is it more of a on-the-fly switch from one to another? I'm not really seeing the point of it I guess. :P

  • @hintofclover Expansion chips give you more channels to work with, they were designed and used in the Famicom over in Japan for a few games. Also, you can have more than one song on an FTM, without having to open a different file each time you want to write or play a new song.

  • @8BitDanooct1 Why i saying my audio in cup is so high HOW !!!!!
