when i had a problem similar,if not exactly like that, it was because my receiver was not firmly mounted to the platform. Has something to do with the gyro being confused......I think :)

@3DWHIZZ thanks for the info, managed to solve the problem. The gain on the gyro was too high and it was over-correcting itself.
