You can't really complain about it "not being as good as his other videos" because he's not playing to a song of his choosing, in whatever style he wants. He's recording a drum track for someone else. The music he's been asked to play with may not lend itself to the Portnoy-esque style Vadrum is known for. If anything, this shows of his ability to play within the confines of a song he's been given (though we can't hear it) as well as his ability to restrain himself. You have to respect that.

Dude, being a true musician isn't always about showing off. On YouTube it might get you more views, but in a real setting with other musicians, tact is key. Check out Bernard Pertie and Pino Palladino for good examples of a drummer and bassist who make a huge impact without getting flashy.
