Seagate sucks too now...any of there drives 750GB or higher have uber high failure rates...older ones were great but now WD and hitachi have taken the lead in quality...

i never looked at the external ones, i only buy internals and then seperate external shells to put them in. the 320gig Seagates i bought a while ago had a good 5yr warranty and i havent had any issues with them, but again all the new larger seagate models i see on newegg have only 3 year warrentys unless you go for an enterprise drive with is much more expensive, and then they all have bad reviews and horror stories...and the 640gig WD i just bought has a 5year warrenty.

icutad2: Sure there are a few errors and the terminology isn't perfect but who cares! Also I know a few people with less than 500mb of ram. Shove puppy Linux on a system like that and you'll get better performance than a dual core system with 2gigs of ram running vista anyways :P

The whole discussion is elitist. Use what you want. Nobody who hasn't already heard of linux is going to have any clue how to use it, considering even ubuntu configuration required a bunch of terminal commands last time I checked. As for windows better than mac, nobody cares. and vice versa. I've used all 3 and I stick with windows because it works for me. Same should go for everyone.

I think you're taking what Im saying out of context. Ubuntu doesn't require any terminal configuration, the way that the kernel is designed though MAY require configuration of the Xorg file depending on how customized you want it. And people do care about Windows and Mac...otherwise there'd be no competition and people would use whatever. I prefer Linux because of it's mass documentation and near limitless invulnerability to most of the virus out there. Plus I can run it as a Clonezilla server.

Ubuntu 9.04 works just out of the box better than Windows.

On Windows I had to find "n" drivers, God knows where.

On Ubuntu, everything just worked.

When I installed 7.04 I couldn't even get a mouse with more than 3 buttons to work properly without going into terminal, and my 6800GS had to be configured over the course of 15 minutes messing around in terminal too. If newer versions have eliminated that, then fine, but i'm not about to jump back to linux anytime soon.

well, Ubuntu does a new release every 6 months. Don't let one bad release leave a bad taste in your mouth. There are MANY distros and many do new releases every six months, or at least once a year.
