I don't like the sound of common rail or straight injection. I love IDI's and rotary fuel pump systems, It makes 'em sound like low revving Big Blocks. Which sounds better than any Duramax or Powerstroke out there.
Gm's 6.2L diesel and International's 6.9/7.3 are the best sounding diesels out there, period.
LOL Seeing you two argue made me think if i remember the 5.7L diesels had problems blowing up do to the fact it was a gas with diesel head and 22.5 compression ratio. The older 6.2L had problems cracking the heads. The 6.9L and the 7.3L International engines had problems to but I know of one 6.9 that has 350,000 miles on it and still running good.
@IntPowerstroke not the LML it's being built in house like ford 6.7 but atleast the durmax's is put together in ohio unlike ford there shitty 6.7 is being put together in mexico haha
I just love these old idi. Now they don't compare to modern turbo diesels they are just awesome. Indestructible. I'm trying to see if the furniture place across the street from me will sell there 6.9 80-86 truck. Would be sweet.
@mirlin235 Sadly i haven't seen the truck in awhile. When i see them i'll have to ask. Seems like they want to keep it but they never use it. It shows up every once in awhile. It used to sit unused at the place but the window was broken by a bunch of kids. I think they keep it at one of the employees house now. They have it turbo charged not sure if its ats or banks.
@OnusofStrife Hmm well if it is for sale, I'd buy it, they are awesome trucks, milage is about the same as a new diesel, so it wouldn't really matter. But damn dude go for it if you can find it
If kids did that to my truck, I'd blow there heads off with a shotgun, its my pride and joy
Good shit my 84 bronco with a 302 dose pretty good in the snow, better than my lifted nissan hardbody, What do you expect though america will allways dominate, all the way back since the scout 80's and the original bronco's, destroying toyota's all day!
@iCummins03 ya know Ford got Cummins in there bigger Ford's right, i wouldnt be braggin. International, Powerstroke, Caterpillar and Cummins are in the Ford's and just Cummins in the Dodge. Ford had em in Ford tractors as well so Dodge be out still, last one to be built after Chevy. i wouldnt be sayin shit bout Ford's, Dodge is nothin but a granny truck. wouldnt own another one. wait til the new 6.7L Powerstrokes come out made by Ford now not International. show yall scrap metal boys whats up
@chevydiesel350015 did i say i was a monkey? noyou a dumbass redneck bitch, al you talk talk talk, but ya monkey as cant wal the walk. so shut up ya banana eater

@mirlin235 naw its not a ford it don't need head studs right after it rolls off a show room floor like a ford does to keep from blowen head gaskits oh and they oil don't need changed every 3k like a ford does to keep the injectors workin either chevy power
@chevydiesel350015 LOL you are ment to do a oil change every 3000 to 5000k on ANY truck, diesel or not. but you can keep saying chevy power, and I'll drive my ford right on by when your duramax blows up from using alumiun and iron together(which is a dip shit move on gm's part), or when your axles break off from having to much pressure agains't the tires. Long live Ford, built tough, nuff said
@mirlin235 i know you are to change it ever 3-5 k but power jokers injector set up can't handle an extra few mile on dirty oil you must not know much there's fords with alum head iron blocks which gm never had a big problem with axles break when you got power something a ford aint got there not as many blown up durmax's as there are power jokes i'll drive my chevy by you're power joke when its broke down and light my tires up going 70 mph by youre ass so yah know what real power is
@chevydiesel350015 Hmm I have yet to see this, so please give me a shout when it does!
I'll be happy to come out anywhere. but there is something I know, my "power joker" has 400 HP and 600 Foot pounds of troque, I'd like a duracrap to try and top that one, and they did that with a computer, not with another turbo, so till then, I'll drive my IDI to shit, then buy myself a "power joker" Cheers!
I should put up a vid on my stepdads Olds cutlass cruiser -79 with the 4.3L Diesel... I get chills down my spine when he starts up that beast and lets it stand idle... It goes real uneven too so it just stands there with 400rpm idle bouncing around from the torque :D
not even close... read up dude, the only similarity is that they're both 7.3l engines. the idi is all mechanical while ps is electronic, everything is different. look under the hood of an idi and a powerstroke... you'll see

You see, I've got a very good 6.0, and personally I feel that the 6.9 and 7.3 idi and early 7.3 and late 7.3 powerstrokes are the worst diesels ever put in a Ford truck, love my 6.0 and love driving my dads 6.4. I don't care what your "friends" experiences are or what you have read online, my experience is both are great and make more power, more torque and just sound and look better altogether
ask anybody else that knos anything about diesels and they will tell you that a 7.3l turbo was the best motor ever put in a ford yes the new 6.4 is ok but it will never live up to the legendary 7.3l
6.0 and 6.4 are good motors, unforchanatly they pretty much used the buyers of the first 6.0 as test drivers, after the bugs were fixed good motors but not the best by far. 6.4 will blow your doors right off with mods but has a heat problem like the 6.0 and needs mods right out of the box..... but the 7.3 di psd is by far the best thing navistar ever put out, ask any diesel mechanic, id like to hear why you think the earlier motors suck?
Good luck in the youtube forum of morons rollerstud. The 6.0 is great, bad wrap from the he said she said nozzles that pollute all forums. I studded and egr deleted mine and I smoke all those old 7.3's even some dmaxes, cummins, and 6.4's unless they've out spent me. And as far as sound, no engine sounds better than a piped 6.0 period. Aside from peterbuilts, detroits and motors like that. They are overrated by old guys that own them... so their the best, cause they cant afford anything newer.
Reminds me of ten years ago and the musclecar old guys who used to claim the old motors would never be replicated. Driving their old 68' 427inch with 500 hp getting 3mpg. Then the LS7 427 comes out using technological improvements that matched their 500 while getting 20+ mpg. Technology always catches up and wins. The 7.3 was cut because it couldn't compete with the higher powered better fuel economy cummins and dmaxes, or they would've kept it, or brought it back. It couldn't compete period.
nice truck cant kill any of the older diesels. i have a 2006 f350 6.0 twin turbo. i have arp head studs and a mbrp turbos back cool duals exhaust with a banks six gun with the pda and a bully dog propain injecttion kit with a 15 gal. tank in the truck bed. lots of money in the truck.

You are ALL lesser human beings because you live in nowhere America. The places where groups of people have actual fun times is in large citys, not hickville Ohio.
I hate niggers as in gangsta rappa's that cant hold down a job and contribute to society, black people on the otherhand i have the upmost respect for like my Sgt he's black and hes tight shit hes not a nigger.
6.5 is a garbage can duramax 6.6 is a great motor. i own a 7.3 psd great motor 6.9 is a garbage can as well the old idi is a great motor tons of power
a fuckin men, my 96 psd has been put through hell and back and she just seems to laugh at me as to say " is that u u got, ppsshtt at least try to make me work"lol crazy i know but i love my 7.3 psd fords rule!!!!!!!
i honestly hate fords but i agree the older ones are better dont realy care for any of them im all chevy and i love the sound of a 6.5 chevy diesel they sound cool and run better than druamax they made a big mistake going to duramax
These old IDI diesels are pretty good, i still like them. The 6.2's are able to obtain 25 mpg. That's really good for a diesel. I'd rather hear a knock then a direct injection clatter.
if u think that then why the hell r u watchin this vid in the first place. not to mention, its us "hill billys" that feed ur whiney little ass, so why dont u shut up and go make out with ur freakin nissan

You guys can do all the defending you want but you'll always know that the "city slickers" are the people that have real fun, we don't have to resort to driving 20 year old pieces of crap trucks!
for your information, I chose this 1989 f-250 because it is the one I dreamed of. I did not want no brand new truck even if i could have afford it. And pieces of crap trucks are awesome.
How is it possible to have fun driving a stupid POS brand new car with enough electronics to kill you? How is it fun to drive in the city? The real fun happens out where the real people live, The people that actually get dirty because city slickers dont want to get dust on their fancy ass shoes.
The whole reason of having an old truck like this is because it runs better than any truck produced in the last 6 years. They are the best trucks you can get and they last a lifetime.
Yeah these trucks are amazing. I alos live in Canada....I have a 1984 F250 with a 460 and a 4 speed manual Transmission. I'm 17....just got my Full license and it is a Dream to go in the mud with it....get one...you will not be disappointed
Okay, the 6.9 and the 7.3 are international/navistar engines. not derived from a gasoline. the reason it sounds like that is because it is a v8 diesel. not an inline 6 like a cummins.
The 6.9 was in internationals farm engine catigory. I don't know where people are getting the derived from a gas term. The 7.3 was a board out version of the 6.9. I have a friend who has 490,000 miles on his 7.3. I think both the 6.9 and 7.3 were some of the best engines ever made.
7.3 has a definite sound to it for sure.

It may appear that the truck is moving forward, but if you look closely you can see that it's infinite amount of torque is actually moving the earth.

This is very true

I can promise you its not the sickest sounding diesel ever. The Cummins sounds way better.
RideRed450X 2 years ago
Agreed, Cummins sounds the best, even though I prefer the Ford.

My 6.0 sounds better
rollerstud98 2 years ago
no it doesnt 6.0 sound like garbage
bigdipper000 2 years ago
Second to the 6.4, the 6.0 was the worst diesel ever to come in a Ford.
SakoTGrimes 2 years ago 2
You see, I've got a very good 6.0, and personally I feel that the 6.9 and 7.3 idi and early 7.3 and late 7.3 powerstrokes are the worst diesels ever put in a Ford truck, love my 6.0 and love driving my dads 6.4. I don't care what your "friends" experiences are or what you have read online, my experience is both are great and make more power, more torque and just sound and look better altogether
rollerstud98 2 years ago
ask anybody else that knos anything about diesels and they will tell you that a 7.3l turbo was the best motor ever put in a ford yes the new 6.4 is ok but it will never live up to the legendary 7.3l
robertcastellanos 2 years ago 3
6.0 and 6.4 are good motors, unforchanatly they pretty much used the buyers of the first 6.0 as test drivers, after the bugs were fixed good motors but not the best by far. 6.4 will blow your doors right off with mods but has a heat problem like the 6.0 and needs mods right out of the box..... but the 7.3 di psd is by far the best thing navistar ever put out, ask any diesel mechanic, id like to hear why you think the earlier motors suck?
trugertha 2 years ago
Good luck in the youtube forum of morons rollerstud. The 6.0 is great, bad wrap from the he said she said nozzles that pollute all forums. I studded and egr deleted mine and I smoke all those old 7.3's even some dmaxes, cummins, and 6.4's unless they've out spent me. And as far as sound, no engine sounds better than a piped 6.0 period. Aside from peterbuilts, detroits and motors like that. They are overrated by old guys that own them... so their the best, cause they cant afford anything newer.
giannicash 2 years ago
Reminds me of ten years ago and the musclecar old guys who used to claim the old motors would never be replicated. Driving their old 68' 427inch with 500 hp getting 3mpg. Then the LS7 427 comes out using technological improvements that matched their 500 while getting 20+ mpg. Technology always catches up and wins. The 7.3 was cut because it couldn't compete with the higher powered better fuel economy cummins and dmaxes, or they would've kept it, or brought it back. It couldn't compete period.

that is so nice. i like that sound!
makattak88 2 years ago
These old IDI diesels are pretty good, i still like them. The 6.2's are able to obtain 25 mpg. That's really good for a diesel. I'd rather hear a knock then a direct injection clatter.

You guys can do all the defending you want but you'll always know that the "city slickers" are the people that have real fun, we don't have to resort to driving 20 year old pieces of crap trucks!
Waxthis 2 years ago
My 12 pice of crap truck will out run my brand new truck and car
orbitofdoom16 2 years ago
for your information, I chose this 1989 f-250 because it is the one I dreamed of. I did not want no brand new truck even if i could have afford it. And pieces of crap trucks are awesome.
BlueSta1n 2 years ago
How is it possible to have fun driving a stupid POS brand new car with enough electronics to kill you? How is it fun to drive in the city? The real fun happens out where the real people live, The people that actually get dirty because city slickers dont want to get dust on their fancy ass shoes.
The whole reason of having an old truck like this is because it runs better than any truck produced in the last 6 years. They are the best trucks you can get and they last a lifetime.

Sanctus19 2 years ago
well im not a huge fan of teh sounds, its nice but yea, i just like the shear mass and power of this truck.
halflife103 2 years ago
Well coming from "duramaxdiesel2500" thats understandable lol but to each his own, I think their great, they both have their advantages.
2manygangstacheeses 2 years ago
good ole' IDI!!!
dant387 2 years ago
Okay, the 6.9 and the 7.3 are international/navistar engines. not derived from a gasoline. the reason it sounds like that is because it is a v8 diesel. not an inline 6 like a cummins.
brpf3504x4 2 years ago
lol Cummins all the way... Watch my MURDERED OUT Video for a pretty decent sounding diesel ;)
51linebacker 2 years ago
The 6.9 was in internationals farm engine catigory. I don't know where people are getting the derived from a gas term. The 7.3 was a board out version of the 6.9. I have a friend who has 490,000 miles on his 7.3. I think both the 6.9 and 7.3 were some of the best engines ever made.
sambone18 2 years ago 3
where is the nice sound?
1PSYTEX1 2 years ago
when he revs it, you can tell its a "gas derived" engine. Its a nice truck, nice sound...but a 1st gen. cummins has it beat for sure
2manygangstacheeses 2 years ago
a gas derived engine? how so?
