Hi. I wrote to the BBC back in the 80s when this show was aired originally. They replied with a recording number and I was able to order and buy it as a 7" single from my local record shop. I have long since lost the single but remember the composer was Rob Waugh. Although it sounds familiar, I don’t believe it was ever used before or since and was commissioned only for the TV show.
For years I've hummed this theme tune so as not to forget it. Thank you so much for putting this on here. It would be great if someone had the opening titles. I'm sure it had a clip from a Dirk Bogarde film in it?
Dear god, I must agree, I loved the theme to this show when I was a kid too. I'm grinning like an idiot now (plus I have too much Red Bull in me, yikes)!

I remember watching this back in the eighties. It would be great if anyone had the title sequence, I'd love to see it again.

By the way, I emailed the Royal Phil Orchestra and asked them what the tune was called and if it was available to buy, but no-one got back to me.
