  • @Composer1992 this is the regular tempo isn't it? You're a great pianist :D

  • WOW!!! Amazing!

  • Pure brilliance.

  • OMG that speedy guy... i'm impressed. =)

  • it sounds different and is a little bit shorter than usual. Why's that? Also I never heard that part starting on 0:25. Very good playing though

  • @doomownage94 There's two version of the cadenza; I think the other one is more popular.

  • @doomownage94 This is the normal cadenza (non-ossia) which is in the Horowitz and Argerich recordings. Rachmaninoff himself preferred this cadenza and performed this version in his recordings. However other pianists prefer the Ossia version during recordings and performances which was also written by Rachmaninoff himself.

  • look¡¡¡ 1:30 his right hand, is strange how fast he move his hand.

  • Well done! :) Hope to hear you one day at Carneige Hall

  • And I felt proud when I learned toccata and fugue :(

    Great Job

  • Rach 3? More like MACH 5!

  • What page is it on?

  • @Vesivian It should be on page 34 if you are using the version from IMSLP.

  • Awesome work. No, it's not sped up. So many idiots leaving comments. You play very well. Congrats.

  • Good! Unfortunately, the piano is not suitable for this Cadenza! try again with a Steinway concert grand piano....... ;-))

  • For anyone who thinks it's been sped up - you're on crack. An obvious sign that it hasn't been is that the pads move normally. Had it been sped up, he would have been pedalling very slowly in order to achieve a "normal speed" look. And if he would have taken the time to do two video recordings (one for the pads and another for the playing), he would have put in so much effort that it'd been more than actually playing the piece at this speed.

Anyway - very nicely played - kudos & cheers!

  • @james4piano And also the only video editing software I have is Windows Movie Maker. :P

  • @james4piano

I totally agree. Except maybe for anyone who thinks it's sped up is actually on weed - that would everything seem like it's going all slow, which would make this guy's playing seem fast. Crack would make you think it's been slowed down - cuz that drug speeds everything up.

  • Can you play the original ossia version from shine? how long did it take you to learn it?

  • @MrSamc94 I've tried the ossia version but I didn't practise it enough to play it smoothly, but I suppose I could learn it. And I'm honestly not so sure how long it took to learn- perhaps a number of months, but it's a little hazy.

  • I like it! even if i prefer the cadenza ossia. Good job man!

  • Audio engineer or not, as a pianist and composer I can tell you that this recording is exactly at concert pitch and in the correct register. Congrats to the pianist, excellent work playing this!

  • Quite obvious mistakes at 0:52, but still good.

  • great performance. this was not sped up idiot commentators. all notes are correct. get a machine to measure the pitch of each note you useless audio engineer.

  • Who gives a fuck to speed up his playing and post on youtube

    its meaningless

  • Impressive technique but man, you gotta work on your sound. Your staccati are horrible.

  • Being an audio engineer, I KNOW this has been sped up. Horribly as well... obviously those aren't the notes being played in the right key

  • @musicfreak42 Being an audio engineer you should be able to tell that this was recorded with my crappy camera- check my other piano videos and you will find that they sound the same. And as to the notes being 'not played in the right key'- check the other YouTube videos and you will hear that these are indeed the same notes.

  • @musicfreak42 It's easy to make that mistake because of the quality of the camera, but alas I have seen him play this to me live at the same speed and accuracy so I have to disagree with you for now.

  • I hate those who say that some videos (Richter, Lisitsa etc) are accelerated; but this one seems like it is, because of the way the sound of the piano disappears much faster than normal ( this explains thef very low quality of the piano sound) and also because some movements of the head seem unnatural. We all know there are simple softwares able to accelerate music, without changing the tonality.

In any case it's well played and congrats to the pianist!

  • @voolare The low quality of the audio is due to the video being recorded through my digital camera- check my other piano videos (Aion theme, maybe?) and you will see that the quality of sound and the decay of the piano remains the same.

  • @voolare i think your right acts

  • wow.

  • lol sometimes I really do think that God wrote the rach3.

  • @LoftyProduction Exactly. Music like this makes me think the composers were channeling God somehow. It's just too beautiful.

  • FUCKING HELL

  • nice piano haha

  • i realy love it! especiallly when you play in flip flops. one of the hardest pieces to play and you did great! thanx!

  • The Hendrix of Piano, thats Rachmaninoff

  • it almost reminds me of the flight of the bumble bee song

    very interesting interpretation.

  • Hi, is that rachmaninov's original version or is this your own. I really like it. I'm used to hearing the other shine version which is why I am asking. And I can't locate my copy of the sheet music. Thanks. - Eddie

  • This is indeed Rachmaninoff's version. The version in Shine is the 'ossia' version, which was written before this version. If you look on IMSLP, you should be able to find the two-piano version with this version of the cadenza.

  • thank you for that! good job. go on practicing so you can play the whole movement for us!

    regards from germany

  • Amazing and inspiring.

  • Sounds like a chimpmunk playing lol. nice.

  • Alven and the chimpmunks do Rachmaninoff.

  • OMG WOW

  • Oh wow, you're really good :]

  • I'm glad you like it! ^^

  • Fast forwarded? you must be jocking this is real guys, just try to make a fast forwarded video and see the mess its going to happen, man you are really good check out my videos, some have been described as fake also, RACHMANINOFF rules!!! keep it alive, cheers

  • I'll take a look. Thanks. :)

  • fast forwarded easy

  • Hahaha, it wasn't fast forwarded. :P

  • Some Parts Look Fast-Forwarded

    o_0

    Good Job Though.

  • Fast-forwarded? Where? Haha. I assure you that it has not been tampered with. :)

  • I really like your way of playing this, <-very impressed.

I also play Rach 3 Cadenza. I like the way your notes are more clearer than mine.

  • awesome job, you totally rocked it. love the rubato used...its ideal.

  • great. well played.

but that piano has guitar voice, knocks in my head. damn what a terrible instrument.

  • Really good. I don't play piano (strictly guitar:P) but this is such an amazing piece and you play it beautifully.

  • Thank you!

  • Sick. I'm trying to learn the ossia and this makes me wanna change back to this one.
