@Yamahaphone probably. i played FSX on decently good settings with a crappy ge-force 8400 GS (upgraded to radeon HD 4650 512mb now), plus the core i7 is far superior to Q6600.
OF COURSE you can, fsx actually doesnt have that high requirements. That computer is way better than so many others. But, DX10 mode (gained by SP2 of fsx i think it is) is heavier. So, but still no problems. Yamaha, you can play all the lastest games on maximum settings, derekli04 has no real experience of what i read.
make a hard turn when Manhattan is in front of you and you'll see a beautiful slide show... FSX sux! I have an Nvidia 8800 GTS 523 mb, 2 gb ddr2 RAM and a Phenom II X4 940 (3ghz) CPU and can play Flaming Cliffs and Black Shark on full settings... as soon as tried on FSX (full settings) when Manhattan in front and a high G turn... there goes the slide show... it is a real crap
enter to custom configuration... scenery ... and put all to the very right extreme... your settings are not at very right, and even so, i can see the lag
they're not at the highest settings, but i think they're good enough to enjoy the game. it's running at 15fps, which is good enough for this sort of game.
ok ok. I'll try to add more ram to see what happens, on my last fly i noticed memory at 1.7 GB busy and i have only 2 GB.. maybe an extra giga will work

ok then I should be able to run at ultra high then? Also do you think with my processor could I run FRAPs with the highest graphics too?
Yamahaphone 2 years ago
@Yamahaphone maybe. why not try it at a lower level and increase little by little?

@Yamahaphone Nope. I have a a Six-Core AMD Phenom II X6 1100T @ 4.0GHz with 4gb 1333 DDR3 and a 6870. Can't run it on highest settings in New York.

it works very well for me. you'll definitely need a dual core (i have a Q6600, 2.75GB DDR2 RAM, and an 8400GS).

you got a point there but it makes me wonder... why don't go back to fs9 with the highest settings? isn't as good as fsx with your settings?
pae39 2 years ago
i've never owned or played FS9 so i can't say. but this is a very good sim, so i'll stay with it.
derekli04 2 years ago

i think what you need is at least a dual-core CPU. P4's are just too outdated now.
derekli04 2 years ago
oh, and most of the lag is caused by fraps, i don't think it was synchronized very well, since i made it record at 10fps and it became choppy.
