I am a Canadian & our health care system is one of the reason's why I am proud to be a Canadian. If I go to my Doctor's office, I don't have to pay at the door to see him. If I need surgery, I don't have to pay anyone when I leave. If our children breaks a bone & needs a cast, we may have to pay for crutches. In December I'm going back to Europe (civilized world) so I can enjoy decent care again :)
What I'm trying to say is that, some "universal health care" systems are better than others. It takes time and a sh*t load of funding, but at least YOU KNOW your money is going back to the tax payer for a 'good cause'.
I keep hearing that health insurance in the UK is the best there is. I hope that Obama will seek help on how that was done. I want the world to know that all Americans dearly love our great President Obama!!!! He is doing so much to help us, in this terrible economy!!
You don't need to look so far as the UK to find a better health care solution then the US one, just north of your border where most people in the US believe to find only the Ocean, there are people who live such as in Quebec who benefit from the world's best health care programs. Canada has year after year been recognized by the World Health care Organization as the best place to live from a quality of life standard.
I have news for you, dental is extra in most insurance programs
eye care and what glasses/contacts are covered is limited when its covered
Some prescriptions are covered, some are not, but you usually pay copay, which is out of pocket pay over insurance monthly cost, to get checkups and some other things
And often insurance finds a way not to cover things
Dont think yours so bad til you see our stats. We dont have to do everything like yall do. There are better systems that are socialised, but its a fact that our private system is one of the worst

The current healthcare reforms are taking the path of the single-payer system. That means that doctors won't be employed by the government. So you're whole argument on doctors getting screwed over fails right there. If you look at the WHO healthcare rankings, Canada is ahead of the U.S. and France is first.
Think about it, when you call 911, a squad car, a firetruck, and an ambulance comes to your house- why is it that one of those cars is owned by a profit organization?

I am a Canadian & our health care system is one of the reason's why I am proud to be a Canadian. If I go to my Doctor's office, I don't have to pay at the door to see him. If I need surgery, I don't have to pay anyone when I leave. If our children breaks a bone & needs a cast, we may have to pay for crutches. 1. Where are these funds going to come from? The government's already $1T in the hole, can't we do what the military and Canada has, a small fee that pays for everything for everyone?

They destroy manufacturers in this country as well by purchasing everything overseas. Those companies that wish to sell to Walmart can't unless they pay homage to them. u should be more specific. Walmart is an ex. amongst what are many examples in many different markets & sectors. Its negative effects r a symptom of a broader econ. fallacy. It does not neccesarily taint capitalism, just a certain conservative run amuck corrupt form of viewing how our economy works. Call it supply side econ., trickle down economics, fringe libertarian dillusion of economic/ideological misconceptions etc. Capitalism is not just about some invisible hand bs & should b regulated.

Walmart is the big gorilla. The go to a small town put everyone out of business and then hire their workers to work for them for less than they did when Walmart wasn't there. Thank goodness for people who understand how Walmart operates. Walmart sucks...a town dry. Some small towns wont have a Walmart invade their town for that reason.

The working poor don't have healthcare. These are the people who work 80 hours a week working at Walmart and some neighborhood liquor store to help feed their families where they can't get health insurance. If they make over ten thousand a year they can't get Medicaid. One broken wrist will wipe them out.

Don't forget people that the F-35's are going to replace our aging F-16, F-15, and later F-18 Hornets so I believe its the right idea to increase funding for it. Also, the F-22 is going to be like the B-2 bomber. Its only going to be used sparingly during combat and only used if there's a full out war. And it is still used sparingly by the military. Still the Senate ended it at 187 planes, we have 141 out there now which means 46 still needs to be made.

The fact of the matter is that you already have F-15/other aircraft in large numbers which are good enough to support current and future wars.
It is simply a waste of tax payers money to spend on something, you do not actually NEED. When money can be better spent on other things. What good is this aircraft if it is being used for the same purpose of cheaper and older aircraft? - Already paid by the tax payer.

"Jimmy Carter v2.0's" gutting of the F-22 program will severely weaken the US's Air Superiority. And a country with a weakened air force is a vulnerable country.
You Americans had better pray that there won't be a USSR v2.0 10-20 years down the line, or a fortified North Korea, or a hostile China, etc.

As a Canadian, I can tell you "Yanks" that a socialized health care system is NOT the answer.
How many Americans know that in Canada, our health care system does *NOT* cover the following:
-Dental (ALL)
-Eye exams, eye prescriptions (glasses/contacts)
-ALL prescription medications
If you're Canadian and don't have insurance (e.g Blue Cross), all prescriptions and dental work costs come out of your pocket.
I would also encourage an American to "try out" a Canadian ER just for fun.

Works fine in Europe. For the most part it's not socialized anymore but it's government controlled and people still need a private insurance. And because it's controlled, the system works efficiently keeping costs low.
In my home country the average insurance policy runs from 80 to 120 euros/m. 120/m also includes all dental care and unlimited doctor visits. No cherry picking, co-payments and other crap.
In December I'm going back to Europe (civilized world) so I can enjoy decent care again :)

In the UK we get cover for:
- Dental (If you are on benefits or under a certain age dental care is free, if not, the government pay half the costs)

You don't need to look so far as the UK to find a better health care solution then the US one, just north of your border where most people in the US believe to find only the Ocean, there are people who live such as in Quebec who benefit from the world's best health care programs. Canada has year after year been recognized by the World Health care Organization as the best place to live from a quality of life standard.

I have news for you, dental is extra in most insurance programs
eye care and what glasses/contacts are covered is limited when its covered
Some prescriptions are covered, some are not, but you usually pay copay, which is out of pocket pay over insurance monthly cost, to get checkups and some other things
And often insurance finds a way not to cover things
