  • paul's lines are basically like classical music

  • A great display of just how beautifully melodic McCartneys style was (is)!

  • los angelos county jail LOL nice shirt and nice playing brother

  • hey im learning bass guitar, and i would really like the tab for this song if you have one. none on the internet compare to yours. :(

  • @dudechupachabra Sorry I can't help you I play all those tunes by ear. I'm a play-by-ear guitar guy.

  • @dudechupachabra well a good friend of mine (a guitar player) suggested Ultimate guitar. although it's intention was for gutiar tabs, there is quite a good amount of bass tabs, I find it useful as I myself, am a rookie bass player.

  • Is that an old Peterson 150W ?

  • @1951abcd Yes it is !!! I like the sound very much. :-)

  • And Paul played and sung this live...incredible!

  • you,my friend are amazing

  • perfect timing :)

  • Hey man, you should show your face; you need to get recognised! ;)

  • Nice!!! Hey what type of bass is that? What brand? :-)

  • @billmac2265 Thanks !! I use a Lakland 44-02 bass.

  • unusual finger style on your left hand when you move your fingers well played nice sound ...the only difference is paul used a pick to play it on flatwounds ....great stuff

  • this is just amazing :)! i love it out of you 44,000 views, like 22,00 are mine ha

  • You are hands down the best bassist on YouTube.

  • Who could have possibly disliked this?

  • great cover

where can I find the Tabs?

  • Wondeful. Well done!!

  • A fine rendition - you've captured McCartney's understated yet majestic ability on the bass guitar. In the 60's, he elevated that instrument's melodic role to that of the guitars and the singers voices. Nicely (and seemingly effortlessly) done!

  • This is really helpful. Great bass! Is there a written tab for this anywhere? x

  • Is there a written tab for this anywhere?

  • HOW IS YOUR RECORDING SET UP?

  • Brilliant spot on cover im from Liverpool to you want to be in my band

  • Great to see a McCartney bass appreciator. His bass work is never considered. He was a big influence on me when I worked up a few parts for some track years ago, my only bass guitar adventure. Keith McVeigh (check out his unique jazz on MySpace) encouraged me. He was a McCartney bass fan too. There's a very small group of McCartney bass lovers here in Belfast. Thanks for your wonderful homage and playing. - David

  • dang!

  • What a class bass player! The very best I've heard on YouTube!! The good news for me is that I have quite a way to go yet to work my way through all the rest of your covers. Quite simply wonderful!!!

  • Paul's bass line has been always amazing but if you highlight it like this, it amazes me again. Excellent cover !

  • a Mc Cartney masterpiece...great sound...Bravo!

  • Great sound! And great playing! 5/5!

  • the lackland sounds much better than your yamaha. and i must say that the beatles had very nice (and sometimes tricky) basslines. never noticed that although i heard them my whole life. thank you for your bass covers!

  • Good job !!!

  • Nice job man! This has always been one of my fave McCartney bass lines. Even more tasty than normal for him IMO.

  • i never payed attention to THE BEATLES' bass, i thouth it was very easy and simple..

  • @juloel10 LOL!

  • Paul McCartney...is that you? Man..nice cover...love it

  • @momoy22melvin Yes I am !! LOL

  • @infusion26 Holy SHIT Paul McCaurtney found the fountain of youth!

  • Perfectly executed. This is a hard bass line to play & memorize. Lots of cool walking lines.

  • very very nice. i cant say anymore. its amazing

  • @redspade200 Thank you !!

  • THE most superior cover on youtube!!! Hope you don't mind that I use it as my inspiration? Still having problems with the second chorus at 1:35 "full of fish and finger pies..." I didn't see that part on the official score, but I may have overlooked it?? Amazing job! If you could post a bass cover of "Savoy Truffle" I'd be so grateful.

  • McCartney knows how to write a bass line! Good stuff.

  • tell me ,does that tool of yours hang left or right?

  • Are you in jail ? your shirt !

  • LMAO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • I normaly only take pauls later stuff done on a ricky seriously. But fair play, good stuff.

  • Very nice, smooth, great tone. This is a very hard bassline and you make it sound great.

  • Excellent job! Paul McCartney is often overlooked. His bass lines were always so melodic. Check out the bass line from Lovely Rita as well.

  • @mapquest68 No doubt about it, Paul McCartney is definitely underrated as a bass player.

  • Fantastic job buddy, very nice

  • Thanks !

  • where can i find this exact bass line?

  • this song is epic and the bass line is impressive.

  • what can say? the best bass playing on any beatle song, awesome

    (from a scouser)

  • I'd previously paid little attention to the complexity of the bass line in this song but you've made me realise how awesome the song is, and you play it superbly too. Very nicely done :-)

  • Wonderfully done, as usual--such excellent tone.

  • hey

  • great job. not only is Paul a great singer song writer, but he's an awesome bassist. so melodic! Of course, I'm no expert on the bass, but I love his stuff.

  • Infusion26, sólo te faltó tocar en un Rickenbacker para sonar idéntico.

Muy impresionado por tu versión, me gustó mucho. Congratulations!!!!

  • This is EXCELLENT. Thanks. Great playing, great sound, and good visual angle and video quality for learning. Your finger work is clear too.

  • Thanks for the compliments, I really appreciate them.

    Greetings

  • nice job, im trying to learn this...your vid really helped thx a bunch

  • dude, it's like you're inside McCartney's head. Very well done.

  • That amp looks like it's been around since the Polk administration. What is that thing? Sounds awesome!

  • A Peterson amplifier (Combo)

  • wat voor een bass is dat?

    echt mooi & geluid

  • Dit is een Lakland 44-02 basgitaar.

  • A 5 star performance of this great song, your video was quite helpful in helping us cover this song.

  • Thanks a lot for your comments, I'm glad you like my work.

  • no tabs :(, its hard trying to figure out the chorus

  • It's a good thing I can't play bass...else I would play this song non-stop for the rest of my life...and I would wish I could play it this well. Great job.

  • great job.. great song

  • hi, hey guys can you tell me if i can now play baass guitar if i didnt play tipical guitar

  • Sure you can! Just take it slow and learn the proper ways to play. Practice, practice and more practice.

If I can tell you one but of advice (of course my opinion) learn to use your fingers! Not a pick. Finger picking sounds way better than a pick to me. More rounded, deeper, just like a bass should sound. Picks tend to be too "twangy" and sometimes even the clacking of the pick comes through the pickups and well that sounds like crap to me.

  • I like to use fingers as well, but I think that just depends on what kind of music you play. I prefer bit "heavier" music, but im still using fingers :)

  • Hey, ive been playing bass for about 1 week now (guitar for 1 1/2 years) and i cant get over the fact that im playing bass the same as a guitar. My Right hand positioning(im right handing) is always as if im using a pick(which i sometimes am). Do you have any hints about finger technique or anything like that. You bass playing is amazing. Keep up the good work and get back to me if you can.

  • I think you can find good instructions on the Web.

  • You're an awesome bass player, and you play on some of the greatest tunes ever, including this one! You are an inspiration for people that want to learn how to play guitar, especially me!

  • Thanks ! You're welcome.

  • I like the fact that you concentrate on good, solid, fundamental bass playing instead of showing off flashy technique that has limited musical value. Keep up the good work. You're a bass players bass player. You and Jason Long are my You Tube favorites.

  • Thank you for your kind compliments !

  • Excellent interpretation! I love your beatles renditions - you seem to always be true to the spirit of McCartney's style, if not to the notes, and that's what makes it interesting, to me anyway.

Your videos are superb - can you give us some information on the hardware/software you use to produce them?

  • hey, this is great, where do you get all of your bass tabs because i have had a hard time getting accurate tabs

  • Sorry no tabs !!! I'm a play-by-ear guitar guy.

  • Your bass's tone is uh-mazing

  • As a Beatles fan I learned a lot from you. Your interpretations are excellent and your videos have quite a good quality : we can really see what your fingers are doing. In one word : thanks.

  • Your welcome ! :-)

  • very good!

  • Nice interpretation. Paul is bending and playing a few notes that you are not, but still very cool.

  • another great video!

  • Penny Lane, double 'a' side single with Strawberry Fields Forever (ask your parents/grandparents if you don't understand!!) released in 1967. It doesn't get much better than this, I thought, but it did. Mr 26, you have again done a superb job. Best I've seen, except Paul of course. 5 Star

PS. Penny lane and Strawberry should have made it onto Sgt Pepper, but record company pressure for a single meant it didn't....Imagine Sgt Pepper with these two great songs !!

  • Thanks pugwashie for your kind comment.

  • I think it's kind of a wash. The counter argument is "Try and imagine Magical Mystery Tour without Penny Lane and Strawberry."

  • nice job. paul's been f'in this up at the last 3 shows he's done

  • Great song

I've always thought that this song was nice and pretty but I never payed attention to the bass-line

Paul made an excellent job there

And you made justice to the song

    Nice weekend

  • Paul Mccartney's bass lines were pure genius. I love Paul's bass it really carries the song along.

  • Beutifull!!! 5 Stars

  • Thanks ! :-)
