This weapon is a pain in the neck. It's easy to get but you have to either kill the Dark Brotherhood with it plus a few housecarls/followers or a just a bunch of followers to get it to drain much health. UESP Wiki says the number is 12, I think. Also it uses 1-Handed not 2-Handed to bonus but no shield/spell when you equip. Probably the coolest looking sword but useless IMO unless you center your whole game around powering it up.

Well dude i gotta say that the best weopon ive aquired on hereis my ebony sword. this sword is awesome i got it just yesterday and its cool but i made a one handed ebony sword and enchanted it with flame damage and its badass..... and im also wearing THE MIGHTY HANDS OF MASTURBATION!!!!!!! well actually just hand of masturbation just cuz theyre enchanted with one handed skill but there still FUCKING MIGHTY!!!!!

Is you one-handed skill high? The sword is sorta glitched as far as skills are concerned. It only benefits from one-handed perks but raises two-handed skill.

Note to anyone joining the Stormcloaks: Vignar is the new Jarl in Whiterun, Balgruuf was moved to the "Blue Palace" basement in Solitude. You can find him there. Any other, Steward, Jarl, or Housecarl you need to see after siding with the Stormcloaks (I think it has something to do with the Main Story too) should be there also.

This is probably intentional. Mephala is the daedric prince of CONFUSION, so it only makes sense that the 2hand counts as a 1hand. Clever bethesda.

@Porklordsthebest Not really clever, as further research into it reveals that the Ebony Blade, since it was forged about 220 years before the events of Skyrim, was meant to confuse and deteriorate the minds of whoever used it, breaching the line of 2-handed and 1-handed and remaining weak after filling with victims, eventually almost every owner of it went insane and Mephala told them to impale themselves on the blade, which they did.

According to what I've read, The Ebony Blade uses the One handed Skill tree instead of the 2 handed, Despite being a 2 handed weapon

And if you kill people you have done quests for with the blade, or Followers, it will gain more attack

For some reason the Ebony Blade gets boosted from your One-Handed Perks and not your two handed. Glitch probably. Also the effects are Health Drain for the first part and killing friends and followers will power up the weapon's effect for the second description. You only need to kill ten of them. There's a work around if you know how to reraise your followers and kill them multiple times or "accidently" killing random allies like in the civil war storyline.
