Thanks for posting this. Dad bought his new in 74 and we used the heck out of it. I have it now (life happens I guess) but working overseas in Iraq and I'm trying to come up with a game plan to restore his. The frame is cracked though but I'll fishplate it and repaint...the original color of course. Not a very stylish color I guess but it's what they decided on color wise.
Thanks again, was awesome to listen to one of these run again.
Yeah, I'm trying to check them all out, just takes along time to load here. A 1 minute video takes like 10 minutes to load. I see that you're on MTF as well which is why I came looking. Good looking tractor and glad you and your Dad have a common interest in these. Have fun!
i beleive it is a tecumseh the guy told me briggs but i looked it over today and i came to the consumption it is a tucumseh i started it today and found out the governor is messed up so i have to take it apart and fix it but it is in good shape it needs painted but it aint beat up it came with the deck that seemed to work good i like the high/low range trans it has
My bad , I misread another comment. Anyway, I just got one like it, but haven't messed with it any. search sears suburban 1966 nc and you can see my 66' I restored. Any onan troubles ?
Its alright. Well I had one major problem. When I went to the guys place, As soon as he would let out the clutch it would sortof bog down, watch "Sears Tractor Running Improperly" The boggy like wasnt nearly as bad. But I cleaned the carb (before the video) and it seemed to go away. I had it in my heated garage all winter and never really touched it after that.
Sorry I hit enter to early, In spring I fired it up and it was doing it again. This time we added a primer just to see if it was starving for gas, and its good now in the long run since i use it when it hasnt run in a while, but anyways, we took the float apart and my dad actually broke it. (super brittle foam) Thank god there was a re placement brass float. While we had it apart we made some new intake gaskets and its been puring like a kitten ever since. I can get it down 1100 rpms maybe?
your dad was right about it being a suburban, but it is also a ss16, it is a sears suburban ss16. like mine is a sears suburban ss12, the ss was just sears trying to appeal to the youth market as well as the "old farts". lol
I love the twin engines. Nothing like an old tractor. I like the sears but I am more into the IH Cub Cadets, I was able to find an original that I am currently restoring.
nice tractor, I have one just like that, mine is from either 1976 or 1977 not sure but my model number is 917.25180...I have a plow, disk harrow, scrape blade, front snow/dozer blade and a cultivator for it all given to me, it was in rough shape but I've been fixing it up with Ebay parts.
oh, I know, I did realize how valuable & popular they were until I started looking around, I would like to get a front end loader also but haven't found one for the right price yet.
Thanks, and yeah I was sorta thinking about that seat but I was also thinking I think they make some Black duct tape with i have on my other tractor ill get a video of very soon maybe tmrw. And my camera sucks so I cant get any good deatail

Onans are really good engines. I love the sound of the 18hp in a John Deere 318 and the 20hp in the John Deere 420.

I used to have one of these these are great tractors. Its been sitting in my grandpas garage for a couple years waiting to fix it.
