I'm always so impressed when people like your good self come up with such professional solutions. You may think it's cheating but I would recommend the Hobie outriggers that I use on my Hobie Sport. They're expensive but light and flexible and do a good job.
Awesome Rig! I've been thinking of modifying something similar for years on my yak. Do you think that if you add surface area to your rudder it will give you more stability like a keel does on a sailboat?
Very enjoyable and informative. I'd be scared to have such a high mast sticking up above my little 8 foot sit on top kayak. I did make an economy version sail using a clear plastic umbrella, a piece of PVC, and a vise grip. Works pretty good, but it doesn't look nearly as cool as either of your versions.
I got to this video searching for some DIY stuff for my boat. Your sail looks great, I'm gonna try to build one. Thanks
By the way, has anybody ever told you that you look exactly like Gustavo Cordera? he is the lead singer for Bersuit Bergarabat, an argentinian rock band.
@ruta9 Let me know when you get your sail done. I had never heard of Gustavo Cordera. I do look like him! That's the third famous person I've been told that I look like, Chris Elliott and Anthony Edwards too. Depends on how I trim my beard I guess.

@thewetturd I think a centerboard is needed to add more stability, but I have zero sailing experience, so I could be wrong!

Were you ever able to tack against the wind or was this kayak sail strictly for when the wind was more toward your back.
