@JustInn014 I had a Chinese mantel clock with a 24 hour (actually a double twelve showing I-XII twice) readout and hour striking. The striking was twelve-hour. Apparently in the first days of mechanical tower clocks (which had no dials), the striking was from 1-24. Nobody could keep track of the striking, and with no visual readout there was no way to verify them. This was probably the reason why the hours are now usually measured from 1-12.
Interesting clock.
Wonder if anyone ever tried making a striking 24 hour clock.
